NPR aired a sad piece on the Nunez family in Ohio who can no longer afford meat. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=92592545

It's a good thing they're a radio channel.

Gloria Nunez has never worked. She says that since her car broke down (imagine that?) her daughter can't look for a job either.
And, they're scrimping on food:

The rising cost of food means their money gets them about a third fewer bags of groceries — $100 used to buy about 12 bags of groceries, but now it's more like seven or eight.
They could probably do just fine with a few bags less of groceries, but that's just me.
A little walking probably wouldn't hurt either.

According to NPR they cant afford to eat. I guess its all how you look at it. Maybey they should eat what they can afford!

The older one has never had a job and the younger one has no job at all. As if looking for a temporary fast food job while you actually look for a real job was all that hard to do. But because of their own stupidity and incopentence we "the taxpayer" must pick up their slack to feed their fat faces! Thank you democrats!

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Are you saying that fat people should spend less on food? Actually if you go shopping, you recognize that the healthlier less fatty foods tend to cost more. Cheap fast food is a great way to save money too, but that stuff will kill you.

Selectively pulling certain details in your post in order to condemn these people is particuliarly cruel. Why didn't you include this?

Yeah, thats BIG bucks. They must be living the high life. I think what the article is saying that the price jumps on gas AND food is really tough on people who have been scraping by. We (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) a little but these people are finding they can't afford food. So would you be more understanding if they were more attractive?

Shame on you all for jumping on these people because they're overweight and depressed and don't underestimate the combination of one causing problems with the other. I wouldn't want it.

Is this post an example of compassionate conservatives?

Some obesity is genetic and hereditary. I don't like people living off the government any more than you. Someone genetically predisposed to be thin doesn't deserve food more than someone predisposed to being fat.

Never worked it is all bull(*)(*)(*)(*) period , I am compassionate when it is about people who are truly needy, not having a car is not an excuse to not work or seek work , I did when I was younger.
