Bush to re-paint The White House

I heard a rumor the other day that President Bush plans to have The White House painted red white and blue to show his patriotism for our country. Regardless of the fact that our nation has kept the white house the same color throughout history, President Bush feels it is a real good way to show that patriotism is alive in The White House. It will forever be known as The Red, White and Blue House.

Of course, everyone that supports Bush, supports this idea, because it came out of the mind and mouth of George W. Bush, just as Bush supporters backed him on going into Iraq in response to 9/11, knowing that Iraq posed no immediate threat to our nation. People don't seem to mind that decades of tradition and procedure are being cast aside to fulfill Bush's wants and needs in The White House...in other words to do whatever the hell he wants with our nation, in the name of patriotism.

...meanwhile jobs hit rock-bottom, health care is in shambles, kids receive sub-par education, our economy is worse off than its ever been, and the elderly can't afford to get the pills needed to make the last few years of life bearable. Bush is one patriotic sonofa-B isn't he?

Too bad what he sees as patriotism comes off as self interested arrogance at the expense of others. You can't win elections based on this attitude.

Look, I'm a Bush supporter but I don't support that idea. Painting it red, white, and blue will not make anyone more or less Patriotic. Patriotism is a behavior, not an appearance. I haven't heard of this change being suggested until I read it in your post. Got a link?

In the meantime, you may not know this (I know... how dare I suggest such a thing) this isn't the first time changes have been made to the White House. Every Presidency changes it somewhat in some physical way.

When the Kennedy's took up residence, Jackie redecorated it completely. She took a lot a criticism for even suggesting that it be changed. Traditionalists were alarmed that she was tearing down our nation's living history. The outcome was that she had great taste and the public loved the changes she made. I believe Truman had to have the foundation redone because it was rotten. Eisenhower damaged the floor in the oval office with his golf spikes.

George H.W. Bush had a tennis court built, and there are changes made to the property with each new resident. Historical aspects of the White House are fascinating when you read accounts by the caretakers and staff who stay there as support no matter who is the President.

Is this the type of man you want running your government? Someone who does crazy crap all the time, so much in fact, that nothing surprises you?
