well , personally , i've gotten somewhat calloused in this matter of illegals crossing the border into the US , but I am not so calloused that I would want anyone to die of thirst...especially if they have their wife & kids with them.

If it's a drug smuggler carrying a back-pack of cocaine across the border , then I have no moral support for providing them a gps direction to a water supply...

Either way , I'm just not comfortable using US tax dollars for this...

Let the drug couriers find their own water...

and let the illegals apply for legal status , and just walk across the border checkpoints into the US with the proper credentials..

No, I'm sorry. I just dont understand, when you do something wrong you know there are consequences I am not there parents. Of course I feel bag they are that stupid, there are stupid people all over the world, am I supposed to be responsible for them, no I am not.

It is the GPS giving directions that I have a problem with. And don't they usually have their own water? But, that wasn't even my point.....Why and how are they getting access to this information???

What will they think of next...

First, I dont condone people dying of thirst, if the borders were adequately supervised, people attempting to illegally enter this country would not be faced with this predicament...

Second, the article did not mention whether or not the GPS had bilingual capabilities, so it may be useless by way of a language barrier, or the inability of a person understanding the technology...

Third, who is held responsible if the water is contaminated with foreign matter of some kind and and the person who consumes the water contracts an illness or meets their demise? How tragic that would be! and in case of such a tragedy, would California's tax payers be subject to liability?

I dont agree with the concept for the above reasons...

So now taxpayer dollars are being used to aid and abet the illegal crossing of the boarder. Which is a felony. If those faculty members feel a need to direct those illegals to a water supply so they can eventually cross this border illegally, they should commit the felony with their own money, not government money.

Shpraralain, I agree with your ideas, let's concentrate on the matters that will have long lived impacts. Honestly, where do these people come up with these so called solutions to spend are hard earned tax payer money... No wonder we are in dire straights...
