Archer…who told you that you can not ask God for forgiveness? I had an abortion and I asked…repented and change my life. God forgives but you must have a repentant heart. It is NOT WRONG TO ASK….THAT IS WHAT THE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IS ALL ABOUT. If God could forgive Moses…and Paul…and DAvid..and ABraham…then He can forgive us. God is all about forgiveness and Grace.

Nobody told me that and perhaps I should have said nothing.

    To be clear
So you see it is a feeling and it has to do with my personality. It is based on me and not the Bible. I feel unworthy to ask God.

I have explained it and I am done with it.

There are some who male claims like gifted, but, as we clearly see, when science and scripture agree - its tough to say you have it right in response.

Hubris exists. That doesn't mean its right.

Making abortions illegal will just make the problem worse:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsafe_abortion

Desperate women will do whatever it takes to end a pregnancy, no matter whether that puts their own lifes at risk as well as the childs.

Give women alternatives to abortion, make them see a future with the child or at least make them see options to carry out the pregnancy without ruining their lifes, give them any help they need.

God created us as sexual beings and unfortunately not all of us use the gift of sexuality wisely.
If you want 'internet porn' to be your kids sole source of information on safe and wholesome sex, don't be surprised if it's not very well informed and may make wrong choices. Seeing that kids will find internet porn and other unreliable sources of information whatever you do, it's probably better you see to it that they get proper sexual education as well to get the picture straight. And "abstinence only" will not suffice.

Did I ? I highly doubt it. This of course even complicates the translation issue even further which makes your case even weaker.

so first century Jews did not respect the Laws of Moses ?

LOL certainly not all sex outside of Marriage .. only when a Israelite rapes a virgin Israelite girl.

What is your point .. what is the difference between the two that you seem to feel is relevent.

So, the one claiming Greek is the one that claims Jesus's original langague actually makes his arguement, based on Greek, stronger? And Paul, who made the decision to go Greek, is irrelevant, the King James Bible, written by scholars to accurately convey the message, is, of course also not relevant.

What is apparently relevant is utter intransigence.

First off . the words given were not even the same as the ones being discussed.

Second - how the KJV uses the word "fornication" has little do do with the words Porneia or Aselgeia.

And you are the spokesperson for all Christians ? Humor.

Whole segments of Christianity do not follow the teachings of Jesus, why would I be concerned about what they think ?

Where do I council rejection of Jesus?

You should not tell fibs but I understand. When you have nothing better to argue with .. what else is a girl to do ?

Do not be so hard on yourself. After all you were born into sin so it is not completely your fault.

I for one would hope that my lady would choose to be monogamous to me not because she was influenced in any way in thought through commandment or a declared moral 'crime', but because she knew with every fiber of her being that she wanted to nurture a lasting relationship with me.....
If the expression of love between two individuals becomes a truth beyond the sexual desire for anyone else, it becomes a realization that commands itself....
The "thou shalt not" counterpart merely becomes an absurdity to this sort of mind.

If I were God, I wouldn't want someone to maintain a relationship with someone because it was commanded of them, but because the love they have discovered within themselves was so fulfilling and profoundly beautiful that nothing else could ever compare to it..... This is a love that I would designate for every life, so what would I have to command within such a magnificent discovery?

The God of the bible sounds like an insecure old man that has bartered with another man so that he could marry his young daughter.....
    Did the daughter love him?
No matter..... "Thou shalt not commit adultery" as commanded by God!
Women were once considered property, how about writing a commandment that is punishable by hell to keep them from wandering?
    HMMMMMMMMMM!

I don't want a woman that doesn't want me through her own will, but that's just me I suppose!

It is true that the Adultery Law only applied to the woman in the marriage. The man was free to have sex with women other than his wife so long as those women were not married or betrothed to someone else.

We might consider that in the times that the bible was written... eh hem.... Women were bought, sold and traded into marriage..... There was always a possibility that they might come to love another, but this was forbidden in such a transaction......

If a woman loved another or had even the slightest thought of loving another, I would encourage and push them to pursue it......

My woman is a great queen in this established kingdom of ours called love, and I am her king only because I pay homage to her in that kingdom.

Imagine the world we would live in where we are all kings and queens.

This makes so much sense (IMO) in relation to how relationships "should be".

It is not because "God commands" X Y Z that two people should continue to cohabitate .. but because they both have a genuine desire to continue.

    Anything else is a lie.

I guess that this rule is convenient for marriages by force .. as was the case much of the time back in the day , or if the husband turns into a jerk or likes to beat "his woman".

It was also a good solution to survival problems of the day which is how many laws and social taboos came about. If folks running around stealing each others property is one thing and this will lead to social chaos. If that property happens to be someones wife the chaos is double trouble.

Sounds more like your argument was crushed and now you are, as usual, lashing out with ridicule.

First off I do not do "sex parties". I have a great woman.

I do not need a "command from God" or the threat of eternal hell to keep me from going to "sex parties".

The fact that Jesus did not preach against "all sex outside of marriage" does not in any way detract from the message of Jesus in my mind.

If this idea is so disturbing to you that your feel the foundation of your Christianity can not withstand this idea being true then perhaps you should take the advice of Jesus and build your foundation on something more solid.

Who are you to say I am not a Christian because my search for the truth has convinced me that Jesus did not preach against "all sex outside of marriage".

Who are you to Judge me ? "Judge not lest you be judged" " Take the log out of your own eye .. and so on

It is not just on the basis of blatantly incorrect translation that leads me to this conclusion.

The core of Jesus message " from the Golden rule" is that you should not do things to hurt others.

If some jerk is going around misleading women .. or vice versa .. I do not think Jesus is ok with this and I can give you 10 passages to back up what I say that are not "ambiguous".

I do not spew venom at you because your beliefs differ from mine.. if you want to maintain your beliefs .. keep them...

but do not demonize me just because my beliefs are different.

You give a passage from Mark. I say ok .. lets go see what this really means.

I Christian website that gives translation of that passage from 17 different Bibles. http://bible.cc/mark/7-22.htm

The first thing we notice is that the word in question is translated numerous different ways ..

lasciviousness, harlotry, lewdness, arrogance are just a few.

How confusing ? Which one to pick? One has nothing to do with sex.

Fortunately, underneath the translation is a description of word in question according to "Vincent word studies".

    MARVIN R. VINCENT, D.D.
Baldwin Professor of Sacred Literature in
    Union Theological Seminary, New York

Perhaps this guy is a quack but if he was then why would this Bible site reference him so extensively ?

After reading Vincent's commentary we find although the would "could mean" Lasciviousness .. the exact meaning is not implied in the text and that it is better interpreted as meaning "lawlessness, insolence, wanton caprice"

Seems like the translation from Young's Bible got it close (arrogance), at least according to Vincent's word studies.

But lets not stop here .. lets go see how the word was used by Jews and Romans at that time.

We find this word "aselgeia" can indeed be used in a sexual sence.

    .

If Jesus meant "Impure" why did he not use the word "akathartos" or other Greek words that are more specific? It is not like Greeks did not have words that describe "sexual impurity"

This synopsis is similar to the Vincent word study meaning and what JB lightfoot surmises as the "most shameless violations of sexuality taught in the Torah"

JB lightfoot was an ordained priest and Professor of Divinity at Cambridge.
This fellow does not agree with you either so is he not a Christian ?

What did you come up with ?

An unreferenced and non linked definition of Fornication, a word that is not the word being discussed was not even in use until the 13th century, is not a Greek word and is not a word used by Jesus.

And then you have the nerve to say that I did not do any searching for the truth and then demonize me and say I am not a Christian.
