Yes, the president of the United States can absolutely influence the cost of gas at the pump. He can implement foreign policy that disrupts supplies or causes fear of disruption. He can start a war in Libya to help his buddies get an oil deal. He can sign gasoline taxes into law. That's just a few of who knows how many examples of ways presidents can and have influenced prices at the pump. While I can appreciate your attempt to move the bar, babbling about the cost of extraction, my assertion is true and remains intact- despite your desperate attempts to move the goal post.
