So far most have loudly demanded a host of things that have very little do do with law or justice...and as I posted on other threads, most of those same folk would have the exact opposite position if the same shooter shot a non PC fellow...then the story line would be about the poor oppressed Hispanic being lynched by the media and hysteric conservatives and racist cops who dared to detain him after his gallant self defense...

In short, I believe color is again driving a legal issue and that is never a good thing.

We do not have enough info to have a real position...we have folk pretending to have a direct in with the police and the investigation...that is, as I noted, pretense. I do not know if the shooter deserves arrest....neither does anyone else on this forum.

What I do know and will say with certainty, is that the folk hollering the loudest are also the folk who would have the exact opposite position if the victim was another color...then the shooters Hispanic background would trump the non PC victims death...

And before the usual folk appear and loudly proclaim otherwise...save your time...I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU....and I suspect most readers would not either.

let the situation play out over time. I suspect the shooter will, regardless of actual events, be jailed as I do not believe a real fair trial is possible any longer...too much pandering and faux outrage.

Not enough facts? We have a witness that proves Zimmerman confronted and physically assaulted Trayvon.

We have Trayvon's cell records that prove Zimmerman's statement about returning to his vehicle as completely false.

There is so much evidence against Zimmerman it is mind boggling anyone can claim not enough information.

 

There is only one witness to have claimed he saw Trayvon on top of Martin. We have a witness that confirms Zimmerman never stopped following Martin and proves Zimmerman assaulted Trayvon. There are also two witnesses that saw Zimmerman on top of Martin seconds after Martin was murdered.

 

My my how things quickly turn from bad to worse when some are found to be wrong one hundred percent (100%). Why has this person ( the unbubba) become hostile to the point of want physical confrontation? This is supposed to be a discussion about a current event not a boxing match.

The police believed Zimmerman before doing any investigating and backed the wrong horse from the beginning.

What independent investigators said Martin attacked Zimmerman?

How do you explain the witness who heard Zimmerman following, confronting, and attacking Martin?

 

Since we have a witness that Zimmerman assaulted Trayvon first it doesn't matter how Zimmerman got a bloody nose.

The author of the SYG law has already stated that as soon as Zimmerman admitted following Trayvon he lost his defense and does not qualify for immunity under SYG.

 

Then it must be obvious that Zimmerman is not a white descending from Spain but a descendent of the poor native latin americans who were indeginious to the land when those Spaniards came to conquer Mexico. Hispanic no longer means coming from Hispania but coming from the communities of hispanics in Latin America.

I work for a criminal firm. I take calls every single day coming from people who have gotten the crap kicked out of them by cops, I hear from black men being arrested by police on suspicion of...whatever. Just the other day we got this client who wants to sue the cops (and Lord Jesus I hope he does) because in spite of the fact that three non-partial eye-witnesses said he wasn't involved he got hauled into the station--a man with no criminal prior-- and made to strip and search his own cavities before they let him go. That was a case of being arrested for being black. Were it an old white lady they wouldn't have hauled him into the station.

Yes, people it does happen.

So why am I semi-siding with Zimmerman?

1) Presumption of innocence is the foundation of the American legal system. If you don't like it...move to Saudi Arabia.

The police are under no obligation to arrest anyone, and should only arrest with incontrovertible proof. It would be a lovely thing were this to actually happen in the realm of reality. Did someone you don't feel is innocent have a right to NOT be arrested and be treated as an innocent person until the investigation is completely concluded? YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

2) A HISPANIC rent-a-cop shot someone and they let him go. Cops LOVE LOVE LOVE to arrest people. They love to arrest people on sexy charges. They especially love to arrest minorities and sorry folks, this dude doesn't look like Malibu Ken. He looks like he stepped off the bus from Mexico which means that AS they are arresting him they probably called him a **** or wetback or made fun of the fact that in his report it says "wet back".

People act like the Klan love Latinos or something. Today's skinheads hate immigrants more than they hate black people. Immigrants, don't you know, are taking all the jobs.

If he's guilty then he will go to trial and be found guilty in a court of law. What people should remember about our legal system is that the burden of proof falls upon the prosecution to prove. The defendant has to do nothing. If the cops or ADA don't feel they have an open and shut case on a murder charge they won't waste tax dollars OR they wait until they do.

Were this case not high profile they might have come back for Zimmerman weeks later once all the evidence has been collected. But now we are, once more, applying unequal justice--only in reverse. A black teen was killed, so a "white" Hispanic must pay. How about...a teen was killed by a neighborhood watch adult and the police are still investigating? That's a less controversial, truly impartial approach.

But whatever...Thanks, American public. You win again. Let hysteria prevail.
