The fossil fuel industry has been known to buy out inventions or patents that that threaten their industry usually paying out big bickies to the inventors. So going on that theory, will they allow clean energy to be developed to apoint where fosil fuels becomes redundant. You know carbon tax, AGW and clean energy that kind of stuff. Will they allow their $2 trillion + /annum industry to go down the gurgler just like that? Especially to some form of energy where a meter just can't be attached to it? THOUGHTS? Car engines that run on water? http://www.spiritofmaat.com/archive/feb2/bird.htm
I am posting as a postulation for an idea for an engine. I make NO CLAIMS that it works. But in theory it looks like it could work. Here's an image of what the engine would look like: http://i6.photobucket.com/albu...linkzelda/Image2.jpg The premise behind the engine is that the green pieces in the picture are clamps that hold specific types of magnets with the poles being at the long end of the magnets. A movie of how the engine works based off an earlier version can be found here: [ame="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xkpyya_final-version-xvid_tech"]Final Version_xvid - Video Dailymotion[/ame] The magnetic pressure comparisons between
When we consider that the fossil fuel industry, as an institution, which it effectively is, has been the most powerfull entity in the history of mankind, we can expect no tolerance of competition from it. The fossil fuel industry, although segmented, can in this instance be viewed as a single entity. No carbon tax will ever effect the fossil fuel industry, it deals in real wealth, in exchange for it`s products, and has no qualms over who steals money from who. A carbon tax is nothing but a money transfer, allowed by hysteria, it has nothing to do with environmental issues.
agreed, i dont think the exxon'ss and the shell's will allow green energy to flourish it just aint gonna happen imo.
Oh right, so the mining companies have mounted this huge hundreds of millions of dollars media campaign against the ETS and the MRRT, and are mounting a hugely expensive high court challenge against the MRRT, because it will "have no effect on them". Where as... "Direct Action", PAYING these guys directly, is going to get them to lower emissions. Yup... that makes sense. Greens are the only party that want to shut down the coal industry, obviously you should be voting for them.
stop and think about it. if an automaker could get it's hands on something that would make their cars cheaper to run than their competition's cars, they'd kill for it, not buy it and shelf it.
Hey Ziggy You think oil/gas and mining are going to idly standby so green energy can bankrupt them. You silly boy! Unless ofcourse its business as usually and a new ponzy scheme on the market called carbon crdits.
Was it exxon that gave GMH billions of dollars to buy out the first manufactured elecric car company which had about 400 models ready to go on the US market. They bought them out took the patent and sent the 400 electric cars to scrap metal yards. Oh yeah guess what GMH no has its own electric cars.
You think taking the government to the high court (and in Clive Palmers case, accusing a political party of treason), and spending hundreds of millions of dollars convincing the public they're lovable, cuddly, job creating, generous mining companies is "standing idly by"? Funny that.
honestly I do not think people could keep that big a secret, someone would tell now could discoveries have been made if they were not interfered with... maybe we may have cures too if people did not interfer with them and change directions when they thought they were getting to close to a cure but the actual cure to our energy problems or cancer or what not imo has not happened yet
lol, well that was a bit sensationalist of me. They're certainly not going to do anything as drastic as dumber wants, renationalise it and close it. They're just not gonna subsidise it, not give it any special treatment, and invest in renewable energy. So they'll only indirectly kill it, or rather... let it die.
Stands for "gigantic manufacturer`s handout". This is an amazingly stupid lefty move, designed by their union bosses.
Just imagine, Exxon and Shell and others would invest heavily in renewables from their earnings, and create a grid of renewable energies. Of course they then would sell this energy to us. Because our governments are good for nothing, except looking after their own interests. Down the line our oil, or what is left of it, can be used for things like medicine, where the oil as an incredient cannot be replaced by any other source. The price for oil would also go up, but in the longterm. However, for Exxon and others the whole thing would be a win win situation. Just a thought, reg.
That's pretty much an old wives tales.. Most of the oil majors are researching other sources... as well as reduced emissions and higher efficency.
Oil will be highly profitable for a long time to come, the world is addicted to it. Ultimately, the cost of any impositions in the name of carbon pricing will be born by the end user, not the oil companies.
Margot, it is like 100 years back, when Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz came up with the latest invention, our car. Everyone thought, what a nonsense, a horse cannot be replaced. If we can get this conservative old fashion thinking out of our heads, and put regional interests aside, we do have a chance. Until then, good night dear planet earth....
Oh! Dear! What next "Prison Planet"? Plenty of conspiracy theory nutjob twonkerism over there without having to trawl the internet looking for more
