Don't most people have mixed race families, especially in the South?

So now if you are following me and chasing me and corner me then I have no right to defend myself. Would that be absurd also.

So if he grabbed Trayvon does that still qualify.

The Sanford Police Dept. has made sure we will never know everything.

This is what is scary about the Right Wing's versions of concealed carry and Stand your Ground laws.

They can create confrontations by being the aggressor against a private citizen in a public place (following someone, and/or accosting them is UNDOUBTEDLY aggression), and then when that reasonable citizen may react if fear, the armed aggressor claims "Self-defense" for KILLING the object of their agenda.

We musty consider that the Right Wing movements for "Stand Your Ground" laws and Unrestricted Concealed Carry" Laws are simply cover for a desire to have a "License to Kill" whoever the Right Wing decides to target.

Given the bigotry that is acceptable and and even supported by the Right Wing, this is a very bad thing for liberty in the USA.

I wonder if a guy in a Klan uniform could chase an unarmed black kid and if the kid fought back he could be killed in self defense

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush also said "stand your ground" doesn't apply to this case and he said, "Stand your ground means stand your ground. It doesn't mean chase after somebody who's turned their back." Governor Bush is considered the foremost authority on this issue as a man who signed the law and even Zimmerman's lawyer agreed with him.

If the guy turns around and starts beating you down because you've made him fear for his life/safety by obviously watching and following him without identifying yourself or any outward signs of who you are, and confronting him with questions about what he's doing there, and pushing/shoving you so that your phone is knocked off, I would think he has every right to do so. You don't stupidly provoke a violent situation and then claim self-defense or stand your ground - that goes to the person who is being followed and provoked.

Trayvon had no choice in whether or not Z was following him in a threatening manner. Zimmerman had EVERY choice NOT to follow him and confront him as he was told NOT to do by the police dispatcher. Why would anybody expect Trayvon NOT to fight back when HE was being followed by somebody he didn't know who looked suspicious to HIM and didn't identify himself as having any valid reason to confront him?

Apparently so since he stalked a teenager simply because he was black while calling him a "(*)(*)(*)(*)ing coon" and then shot and killed him.

Zimmerman had been going door to door among his neighbors for months asking them to be on the look out for "Black teens".....

    Zimmerman has a screw loose.

Shooter of Trayvon Martin a habitual caller to cops

At the focal point of a shooting scandal: a mild-mannered neighbor who fixated on crime and focused on young, black males.

Zimmerman called police 46 times since Jan. 1, 2011 to report disturbances, break-ins, windows left open and other incidents. Nine of those times, he saw someone or something suspicious.

“Hey, we’ve had some break-ins in my neighborhood, and there’s a real suspicious guy at Retreat View Circle. This guy looks like he’s up to no good,” Zimmerman told a dispatcher on Feb. 26, the night of Trayvon’s death.

Licensed to carry a firearm and a student of criminal justice, Zimmerman went door-to-door asking residents to be on the lookout, specifically referring to young black men who appeared to be outsiders, and warned that some were caught lurking, neighbors said. The self-appointed captain of the neighborhood watch program is credited with cracking some crimes, and thwarting others.

Zimmerman was also charged with domestic abuse (of his girl friend) and a restraining order was placed on him for a year.

interesting that future presidential hopefuls are commenting on this, calling for continued investigation, ect...

I would of preferred neither the president or the republican candidates commented on it

I don't think this was racism per say, maybe racism, but not racist if that makes sense, he had it stuck in his mind that a couple black kids were criminals in his area, but the could of just as easily of been a couple white kids... that said, the real question is why did he kill this young man and was it intentional or accidental, when did the gun come out, when did the kid fight back, ect.. I want real details.. I would like Zimmerman to go on tv and give those details, if he is innocent, why not tell his side of the story?

I am glad they all commented on it because it is a major event happening in our country today.

That is why slavery and Jim Crow segregation lasted so long, because the President sat idly by and watched these atrocities go on for years at a time.

I agree, but I would of gave it a couple weeks at least before commenting, just to have more details, let the police hopefully do their job

maybe it's just that now information gets distributed so fast, the issues set fire quicker and the people want responses quicker in return

Well, they already waited to comment for almost 4 weeks. . .

However, did you notice that President Obama and Romney did NOT take side, but only deplore the death of a young man and ask for a full scale investigation, while Santorum and Gingrich comments seemed to assign blame squarely on Zimmerman?

I am pretty sure just disagreeing with your call for a lynch mob is a reason to call people racist. I have yet to see a single person that doesn't think a full investigation is warranted, just that Zimmerman doesn't need to spend a week in jail until all the evidence is collected. It is that pesky "innocent until PROVEN guilty" rule that the FL cops are playing by that has you and many of the black community of race baiters so up in arms, willing to take matters into your own hands. There has been not enough evidence that says Zimmerman was in the wrong to prosecute him yet, so he doesn't need to be held in prison indefinitely like your fearless leader, Obama, would love to do to American citizens. Maybe you can call Obama and have him charge Zimmerman as a "terrorist", then he can be locked away with never having a trial for the rest of his life, would that calm the blacks out for blood lust in this country?

They aren't calling Zimmerman white, because he is Latino. So they are still good with your prejudice of them hating latinos. Glad your racism still is in tact.
