When are Gingrich and Paul going to stop wasting time, admit they're defeated and get out of what is clearly a two candidate race for the Republican nomination? The two dimwits need to come to terms with the clear fact that neither has a shot at the nomination.

Ron Paul has nothing better to do so he won't drop out. Paul has had a very disappointing run thus far in this primary process considering how much hype he gets from his followers.

I guess Paul's popularity on the internet doesn't match up with his popularity with everyone else.

Paul's staying in so that he can scam his supporters for every nickel that they've got. That's what he did in 2008 and he's doing it again. He's a liar and a hypocrite.

Ron Paul's campaign is about spreading his message of liberty. Everyone including Paul knows he's not gonna get the nomination.

Gingrich needs to drop out though but he won't as long as he has finds left. The publicity being a nominee gives is kinda hard to resist for most people and gingrich is nothing if not a publiity hogger.

He can spread whatever he wants outside the campaign.

    So is Paul.

They both need to stay in the race so Romney can't get to the magic number. If they both drop out the race will be Romney's hands down. He must be defeated.

Then practice saying "President Obama" for the next four years because Romney is the only Republican that has a chance of beating him. Santorum and Gingrich can't.

Felt like you were threatening I vote Romney or else, indirectly.... Well regardless, you don't know the future. Santorum could steal the election and get away with it.

I'll agree that's possible, but highly unlikely. Regardless, Gingrich and Paul need to face facts. They haven't the money or support to make it worthwhile to continue. They should get out and support the party nominee.

No, this is going all the way to the brokered convention.

    It's anyone's game.

I'd say that overall, Paul has been a net positive for the GOP. He's simultaneously the most conservative amongst them, while having the broadest base of support... people who otherwise wouldn't look twice at the GOP.

I think that as the election draws nearer, many Paul supporters are going with whoever has the best shot at beating Obama. Who really thinks Ron Paul would have his supporters vote Obama over Romney, if and when it comes to that?

It's pretty clear that this is how it's going down. Obama or Romney... that will be the choice. The answer is very clear for me... Romney... especially in the highly unlikely, rumored scenario, that Rand would be the V.P. selection. Rand as V.P. though... that's simply too good to be true...

I too would hold my nose and vote for the Romnotron. But hands down Marco Rubio will be the VP. Sorry LLM, gotta get that Hispanic vote.

I'm fine with Rubio, though there is the contention of his legal status. Lefties will be all over that like flies on stink.

It will just make them look stupid and desperate. He's legal.

He's a more honest individual than Obama is so he won't be shifty about showing his papers either.

Which ever direction Romney goes with his V.P., I hope it's someone with solid conservative credentials. He needs to give the skeptical some reassurance. In my mind it's anyone but Obama, but I really dislike the thought of electing someone who will simply expand government, abuse executive orders, abuse precedents, etc. No real change in other words.

We're pretty much going to be a full on ("friendly") dictatorship in 15-50 years, it's all a matter on how we get there.

Sadly, with the general exception of Ron Paul, the Republican presidential nomination process was dominstated by the "Social Conservative" movement of the "Christian Right" that endorses a larger authoritatian government forcing Christianity down the throats of America and disregarding the US Constitution whenever it fits their agenda. Traditional "conservative" values have long since been lost by most Republicans which has been highlighted by candidates like Romney, Santorum, Gingrich and previously Bachmann and Perry.

IMO it would be good if Santorum and Gingrich dropped out so that Paul and Romney could go head to head in any possible remaining debates because they actually have different perspectives on government in America.

Paul predominately supports the Constitution and Romney does not. Paul is for a less intrusive US government in both domestic and foreign affairs and Romney wants authoritation US government in both domestic and foreign affairs. Paul wants to balance the US budget immediately and Romney supports continued deficit spending.

Sadly that won't happen and Romney is unquestionably going to win the Republican nomination.... and then he'll lose to Obama in November. The wrting is already on the wall.

But the campaign is the best platform to do so.

If the Republicans win the elections in November, Ron Paul could actually be the deciding factor in that. If he bats for the eventual nominee, it could convince a lot of Democrats to cross party lines plus many independents favour Ron Paul.

Romney, Santorum and Gingrich have done a helluva job driving away everyone but the most conservative base away (newly graduates, women, minorites to name a few demographics) and among those demographics its only Paul who maintains a positive image. So you may criticise him all you want, the fact remains that come November, Ron Paul might just be the key to deciding who wins the election.

Ron Paul will not win the nomination of course but he could be influential if Romney selected him to be the VP candidate. I don't think that would overcome Obama in the election but it might tip the scales. Currently I don't see Romney of having any chance of defeating Obama and the polls tend to indicate that.

I agree completely except that Romney and Paul differ on too many issues for Paul to get the ticket. The only possible scenario for a GOP win could be Romney with Paul Ryan as VP (or if a better candidate emerges) and they must find a way to constructively use Ron Paul other than as VP candidate muh like Obama used Hillary in 08.

Another choice I'd be okay with, but his economic ideas are evil to some. I'd worry that the propaganda machine has done a good enough job, or would continue to do so, of making him a marked man.
