I am beginning to see your point. I am not sure that GPS data is encoded in EXIF data. It could be but usually things like f setting and shutter speed, in other words, the photo data are. The ABC story does not mention GPS.

It could still be used during the trial if the EMS people or police did not take photos. All that has to happen is for the EMS to verify it was a picture of what they saw and it could be entered as evidence.

The picture was taken with a cell phone, so yes, it is stamped with the GPS coordinates/date/time.

It is irrelevant if it was taken by the police or not. Geez......I think you have watch to many police shows on TV, because you really do not know what you are talking about.

You are correct. I just looked at one taken from my Blackberry and it gives the GPS coordinates. I am sure an iPhone would too.

The photo was taken with an iPhone 4S and according to wiki GPS data IS embedded in photos:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchangeable_image_file_format
The second generation of iPhone (known as the iPhone 3G) by Apple Inc. is also equipped with a GPS receiver, and uses the receiver to geotag photographs taken with the device. Subsequent generations (the iPhone 3GS, 4 & 4S) also support this feature.

Give it up, drpepper. I'm beginning to get embarrassed FOR YOU.

I have one question though. . .Wouldn't you think that this ambitious photographer might have also taken a picture of the body laying in the grass? Why hasn't such a picture surfaced?

I don't know if he did or didn't. How is that relevant to my post?

We are discussing photos taken by a neighbor, aren't we? We are discussing that the neighbor who took that picture also stated that the gun powder burn was clearly seen on the hoodie. . .which is kind of strange that is would be seen on a dark grey hoodie, with the body face down in the grass, in the dark night. . .unless the entry of the bullet was in the back?

I was interested in finding out WHY this man who clearly took a very close look at the body (to notice that gun powder mark on the dark grey hoodie, in the dark) didn't also volunteer a picture of the body. . .which would have shown the position in relation to the concrete sidewalk (for one!).

Why do you seem to take affront at my question?

My comment was about whether or not GPS data was embedded in photographs taken by an iPhone 4S. Why you chose to ask me to speculate as to why there hasn't been a picture of a dead teenager's body released is beyond me. I suppose you have some conspiracy theory that you'd like to propose?

yup, the far righters keep on saying ABC said there was GPS data but ALL ABC said was there were "properties" and they show a graphic of date and time only. Date and time can be changed and you can go back to ANY site and take a photo and make it look like you took in on that day.

But, the fact is, they have LIED about what ABC said and they LIED when they first came out that it was a "crime scene" photo.

yup, you have already been quoted on another thread as stating this was a "crime scene photo." so, nice try.

THE COPS DID NOT TAKE THE PHOTO nor have I ever asserted that they did nor even implied such. Wiki just showed that iPhones do embed GPS data in photos. It was in response to your assertions to the contrary.

You even went so far as to call it "folklore". LMAO!

Do you now concede that the phone that took the picture does in fact embed GPS data in photos and that ABC says that such data is present in the photo?

Watch the video starting at 1 minute 30 seconds:
    http://gma.yahoo.com/warning-graphic-photo-possible-evidence-shows-george-zimmermans-050145810--abc-news-topstories.html
"ABC News has also confirmed that GPS and other data embedded in the digital photograph shows that it was taken at the scene of the shooting with an iPhone just three minutes after this fatal gunshot was heard on 911 calls."

Actually, you are the one lying. The date/time/GPS stamp can not be changed as these are not functions of the cell phone, they are a function of the provider. Have you ever noticed that the user never has to change the time on a cell phone? The time is automatically set based on the location you are receiving the signal from. Even if you cross time zones, your cell phone will update the time.

    You are really embarrassing yourself.
