I dont know what 6% you're talking about, but yes, I absolutely blame illegal immigration for a lot of problems in the US. By the way, 15mln illegal immigrants in the US are not 6%, its much more. Now, imagine these people get a path to citizenship and call upon their kin to join them in the land of opportunity; all of a sudden, we do have a real overpopulation problem in the US, don't we?

Do you have any idea the amount of industrial pollution the construction of toys such as Yachts and Private jets create?

Fine. So we have 15mln criminal, not paying taxes, drawing upon overextended social benefits system illegals... but of course America is overpopulated...

The population of America is fine. We produce more than enough food for ourselves.

It is true, however, that if we quit exporting food and consumed it ourselves, there would be a "correction" in the populations of many countries that rely upon us to feed them.

We have contributed to the problem of overpopulated poor countries that lack self sustainability by sending food aid or selling our food to them.

If over population is the problem, Obama controls the solution. Just wave over the officer that follows him like a shadow. The one carrying "the football." Entering the right codes and the mushrooms grow brightly.

    Problem solved.

Everything else is just hot air.

It's nothing compared to the pollution put out by much larger scale production processes. Just the fact that a huge portion of the world's power is generated through coal burning makes yacht and jet production insignificant by comparison.

If you really want to clean up the world, you have to clean up power generation first.

Turn the lights off at night and treble the term for burglary.

It's sustainable to the extent that we have the ability to educate people about birth control. If certain religious groups didn't continually fight all efforts to educate the Third World about using birth control, half of the problem would be gone by now.

Beyond that, efficiency in living through better technology and cleaning up industrial processes should, together, make growth sustainable. The real problem is that no coherent and consistent effort is made to work together on these things, because of political infighting.

As far as overall consumption goes, the gap between the First World and Third World is closing in most cases. There are areas of the world (like much of sub-Saharan Africa) that are still slow to advance, but countries like China and India are moving forward. Their own rise will dictate less consumption on the part of the First World.

I can agree with cutting off more lights, but we've definitely got an excess of incarceration here.

From my perspective, it has more to with a dearth of better public policies on the part of our elected representatives to government. Supply side economics should be supplying us with better governance at lower prices.

Children born/woman. Catholic Italy has one of the lowest birth rates in the world at 1.40 child/woman. The west in general has below replacement birth rates. Replacement rate is 2.00 child/woman.

In my opinion, promoting the general welfare could include discovering more perfect knowledge of structures, such that we may create a habitable zone anywhere on Earth regardless of climate change.

Firstly, continued economic growth is not sustainable in the long term because resources are finite. Second, you are over-emphasising population growth in mainly poor third world countries which is a marginal, not, the fundamental problem. I repeat, consumption, which occurs at disproportionately higher rates in the rich first world where rates of human reproduction are proportionately lower, is the primary problem. Yes, China and India are closing the consumption gap but are still relatively small fry compared to the US which has just 4 per cent of the world's population but consumes a quarter of its resources. The emphasis on population growth in the third world is therefore essentially a red-herring for political ideologues to kick around in order to score cheap political points.

No it's not, it merely takes political will.

the USSR had plenty of will. as a result they had plenty of potatoes and cooking oil. the 2 hardest things to do in Soviet Russia was to find food and lose weight.

Well, it's good to know that the world will be okay when the US stops exporting rice, corn and soybeans.

Yes and they should start not with Catholic birth control, but also fundie female control. All that nuclear family and women staying in the home nonsense is just adding to the number of overeating offspring.

Honestly if populations keep growing , then goverments will keep doing what they always have been doing. A new virus or sickness occurs and wipes out a good chunk of the population. In real life most people only care about themselves and will not conform to any rules that will say have less children unless they are forced to. Human's are like animal's , only when it becomes a crisis to thier own survival will they become disipline. Otherwise unless people encounter the problem themselves , they could care less about whats happening to someone else.
