Criteria for losing post points-very curious

What is the criteria for admin or another authoritative entity to deduct post points? Why can't there be an explanation given the individual for what must be unacceptable behavior? If one were notified that a court have found one guilty of an infraction but would not explain the charge, would only execute the sentence...how does that work for the common good? Thank you in advance for any guidance in the matter.

 

As far as I know, points are built in to the software. We have no control over them. If you received an infraction, you would be notified.

 

I have no idea what this means. The only points I'm aware of that anyone has any reason to care about is infraction points, which the more you have the closer you are to getting permabanned.

 

Thanks for your reply. I received a -16 points for post points. All other post point reports have neither a + or -. Find it odd. Are points deducted for infractions? Another forum enigma!

 

It is an enigma and really starting to annoy me. I don't care about points, credits or w/e you want to call them, but along with other little issues it tipped me over the edge a few days ago, so I'm going to post on it. Several times now I have come in and received the notification of several people "Liking" a post, with no dislikes and there don't seem to be any thread deletions and no infractions either. Strangely then, I wonder why I've lost 5000 points for no apparent reason.

You could lose your post points when your post is deleted by mods and likes and dislikes do not affect your post points. I lost around 100 points when I deleted a social group I had created and sometimes thread deletions may affect your points as it happened to me on a couple of occasions.

 

Did you miss the bit where I said I don't think any posts or threads were deleted?

I can see that happening if it's a couple of hundred points, but it's thousands. And I'm fed up with it, it's annoying.
