    Liberalsim is the social harm.

28 people dead is just one of the consequences of the brave new liberal society America has become.

28 people the other day had a huge "phobia", I'll wager you would too if you was 7 years old and had one in your face.

So you are saying that the average person, in any country anywhere on the planet, cannot be trusted to own a firearm and is a threat to society?

    Kiss my ass.

People frequently don't see themselves accurately... particularly belligerent people or paranoid people.

NO. Read my posts, there's something wrong in your society, at every level, in every deomographic, which leads people to resolve their issues by killing people.

    Guns simply enable this.

    We agree on one thing.

There is something wrong with society.

It's an insanity that comes from liberalism and there mass killings are just a symptom.

The ON!Y ones politicizing this are those who want more gun laws on top of the 1001 we already have. If the first thing you think of is, this wouldn't have happened if we only banned guns a long times ago, THAT is turning it political. Do you think every time someone dies in a car accident, wish we never had any cars and this wouldn't have happened?

The gun didn't shoot those people. The person did and he was a very sick individual. You can't get rid of all the sick individuals and you certainly are NOT going to get rid of all the guns in this country, unless Nazi Germany is your goal. Drugs have been banned for a long time and they're everywhere. Might as well ban beer while you're at it. See how that turns out. Banning guns here isn't like banning guns oin an island like Australia.

The gun laws are already very strict where this occurred. Sck people are going to do sick things. Look at why he did it to see how to fix it rather than the tool used. Snap judgements and emotional reaction is how people lose their rights.

I can most certainly agree with you on this. Instead of attacking the real issue, some are playing the "it's the other guys fault" game. If your kind of people, (anti-gunners) had not demanded making this area a gun-free zone (soft target), creating a soft target zone, this would have never happened, or a minmum loss, if brave armed people had been there. Blame yourselves as well. It has already started on TV news, caught in passing. "Blame all guns!" New legislation, based on an emotional reaction will be the apex of the next sessions throughout America about how they can figure a way to remove my Rights.
Instead of focusing on the reason, some will demand unreasonable changes.
It was a most loathful and despicable act done by a very sick mind who had been afforded an oppportunity to enact a most heinious crime. Since he is dead, the emotional ones are focusing their attention on ALL gun owners, pointing their fingers and saying.."See, this is what responsible gun ownership will get ya." , "all of the responsible gun owners are gonna pay for this"
The blame rest squarely on the shoulders of the people who created gun-free zones. These killers are targeting areas rich with unprotected families and children. They blame others for their failures, and gun-free zones are a failure. It is very sad. I do not down-play the seriousness of such events. They are horrendous in nature. But it is not the lawful gun owners fault, but even in here, there are those who would pass the blame onto people who aren't guilty or even liable. Even if these people were to achieve their goal of disarming lawful and legal owners, these gun-free zones will still be the target of mass shooters. Murderers will still keep targeting these areas. More police aren't the answer either. I must point ot that the police were of no use, again. Taking the guns away from the rest of us will be of no use either...look at Chicago, another gun-free zone. Failure!
The mind, sick, twisted, and bent on destruction, will always find a way.
We live in very violent times world wide. It is not just America, it is everywhere. I believe it has gone beyond government intervention, regardless of what many espouse. The government cannot fix everything.
In defense of the anti-gunners...yes, you should be able to travel without fear where ever you go. You have the Right to be safe. Families have the Right to be secure in their homes and in public. Ideally, you should not have to worry about your child coming home safe everyday. But we hardly live in a safe world. That is the reality.
I grieve for the survivors and their families, but I will not be held responsible for two reasons. 1> My firearms were not used or even considered in this event. 2> If well trained people had been there with their firearms it would have turned out differently, if it would have ever occurred in the first place.
Unarmed civilians equals soft easy targets for broken minds.

Reducing people to "animals" is NOT the answer.

To find any solution, if one exists, it takes politics.

Some say it is the guns, they point to 10,000 plus handgun deaths.

Some say guns are there to prevent loss of freedom, they point to the millions killed in regimes the world over where the people were unarmed and had or still have in numerous regimes no freedom of speech or vote.

    The "Liberals" say:

“Regimes should be overthrown from within” (Chomsky)
    http://www.chomsky.info/interviews/20020416.htm

But, with what, spit balls? Not getting a whole lot of response from the topic asking if we can trust other liberal nations with military arms to help us overthrow an oppressive dictator with military arms.

In the sixth grade the most moral instruction we received from a teacher was the posting on the blackboard of a proverb, some of which were not even biblical proverbs, maybe a quote of Plato or something, which the teacher (Mrs. Omerzoo) was forbidden to ever do it again: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." How now, that is forbidden! So from the sixth grade on there never was a daily dose of moral instruction; "if the student hasn't learned the instructor hasn't taught."

Granted the Old Testament does acknowledge that there is more than nurture and there is nature, and has a procedure to deal with psychopaths.

Can you tell us of so much as one daily class in public school where you received moral instructions to love your neighbor and to not think of them as evolved from monkeys?

So now we have people reducing others to "animals." Well, I wonder where that came from?

That's not true. The only consideration being offered is the removal of lawful gun-owner Rights. We have offered sensible solutions, but none will hear it. Gun-free zones do not work. IF a shooter realizes there are guns and they may possibly get shot, they may reconsider. Eliminate soft targets, allow carry conceal or even open carry. The programs in place now only feed the sick and broken minds. That program has failed. Not all gun owners are killers of innocents. Soft targets provide opportunities for the broken minds. Heavily defended areas are not.

For once I must agree. She was very irresponsible. She bears as much guilt as he. Both are dead. Both paid with their lives. Justice has been served.
However, mine were locked up in the safe at the time. How and why should I be punished for the act of another?

I certainly appreciate what you are saying and I think it a good idea for anyone to give some thought to it. I also feel as if the events of mass death bring out a feeling of helplessness and grief. It is a natural gut reaction to want to fix the problem so such horror will not happen again. Trying to imagine the sense of loss so many good families have suffered is an overwhelming thing and it doesn't sit easily in anyone's mind. Hence the lashing out using politics as the vent for all the mixed horrible feelings.

Some are responsible with their feelings, some are not. In grief things will be said and the timing of the saying isn't always the greatest. Here, behind an avatar, unidentified and not held to the same standard as real life, anyone can lash out in relative safety. This place can be an emotional pressure valve to let off steam and spill or vomit emotions when ever it suits us. Thank God we have that because it might be the only open and honest way to come to terms with the murder of so many innocent souls at a time of year when giving of each other is much more celebrated. Here we have a platform to discuss things we may never talk about with family and friends. Here we can air it out so that maybe we won't have to carry such a load in other areas of life.

Some of us, myself included, have been somewhat disgusting in trying to get our head around these recent events. People are shook up everywhere you go. The Psychic hotlines are jammed with people calling in for some comfort. Everyone wants this kind of horror to end right now. It is understandable people are doing and saying things they might not normally say.
