    Newtown Mother Delivers Obama’s Weekly Address Instead: Don’t Let ‘Our Tragedy’ Become ‘Your Tragedy’

    The headlines above, in my opinion, note the despicable abuse and political misuse of a grieving mother. It is heartbreaking to listen too for anyone who has lost a loved one to death, especially children. She has been used as a prop by a "very caring" Presidential administration pursuing a very anti-American, anti-Constitutional-specifically Anti-Second Amendment agenda. The President has always been very shrewd in using emotion when logic dictates an untenable fate for his political goals.

    The issue that needs to be addressed, but would not end with confiscation or diminished rights, is WHAT is the root cause of these heinous acts. Instead, the Federal Senate bill will choose strategies to defend against these individual evil criminal acts of mass murder by using;

    The paperwork of a federal firearm license dealer...BECAUSE that would have prevented the murders?

    The phone call for an instant background check...BECAUSE that would have prevented the murders?

    The reduction in private property rights (private firearm sales)...BECAUSE that would have prevented the murders?

    The de facto requirement of additional magazine (reduced capacity mag) changes at the scene... BECAUSE that would have prevented the murders?

    Demonizing/banning/confiscating specific rifles and pistols...BECAUSE that would have prevented the murders?

    Mental health and security must not be considered because neither can support anti-Second Amendment goals.

    In every attack the government has initiated against the Second Amendment and those to whom it belongs, at least since 1934, IT has cited criminals and their crimes as the reason. Laws should never be used to club down the rights of citizens. Laws do not stop criminals intent on committing crimes. Laws do not heal or stop the (transient or chronically) mentally ill. If law, law enforcement or the justice system made society safe there would no longer be lawlessness (murder, theft, speeding etc.). There is no legislation that will stop these types of murders or provide a real-time life defense from the murderer.

    The point is everything (rights included) is up for debate and confiscation except the root cause of these events. Moreover, the solutions that would have an immediate beneficial (though not perfect) impact are not being embraced; instead, these are being ignored in pursuit of restricting the rights of the American citizen.

    Why are the President and Vice President interjecting themselves in and twisting state Democrat politician's arms on state firearms votes? Why is the head of the Federal Executive Branch threatening/intimidating State of (you pick) politicians with a "D" next to their name? Of course, some of these state politicians simply become sellouts to their own desire to be elected once again to 'Serve the People" up to their master.

    Any figurative casualties are acceptable from the political ranks if it denies them the opportunity to ignore the Constitution and usurp private rights. Yet I fear these elitists will be successful...what are we leaving for our children? Debt, creeping authoritarianism and diminished rights. These days it's hard for the American People to find a friend in Washington D.C.
