The U. S. Congress is currently reviewing immigration reform. While the headline is "Pathway to citizenship," the first priority is "Secure the Borders." We want the foreign Muslims out. We know how to make that work, and with incidents like the Boston Marathon Bombing, you are playing right into the hands of tough new laws regarding immigrants. Let me extend this a step further. Egypt really did better than we did. They overthrew their government without any help. They are still fighting things out over there. Weather we like it or not, geopolitical boundaries are determined by who won the war. Doesn't matter the country or region of the world. The winner sets the rules. The United States was wrong during the 19th Century by forcing the Monroe Doctrine to make America from "Sea to Shining Sea." Unfortunately, we can not change the past. And the past for Native Americans is not much cleaner than the past of the United States. Everyone pulled some nasty, dirty tricks.

In the end the United States won all the wars. But, as we rolled into the 20th Century we gave Native Americans things we did not give our own citizens. Start with free medical care. Basically, free middle class housing, and on college admittance, Native Americans go before U. S. citizens. Does this even the score? I doubt it, but these were things the United States did to make things better for Native Americans. And, today these tribes own casinos and are awash with money to build their lives the way they want.

300 years is peanuts? I don't think so, because 300 years ago the Spanish had just come here, and were building their empire, which we took from them. In the 1840s after the Mexican American War the United States forgave Mexico its war debt, and paid them $18,000,000 for our southern border as it now stands. We did not have to do this we won the war. We do what we can for those we have hurt, but none the less, we won the war. It is our way or the highway. Am I getting through to any foreign Muslims out there? Frankly, it does not matter. Our country, our rules.

You do know that our nation's defenses are not omnipresent nor omniscient, right? Somewhere, someday, another attack is going to happen. It may not be by a Muslim. There are multiple terrorist attacks carried out by all sorts of people in this country. Is it more likely to be a Muslim? Yes, probably. Why? Is it because they are all evil and deserve to be kicked out of this country? No. Is it because we are at war in two Middle Eastern countries and are constantly bombing people to maintain our supremacy over the region? Yeah, that sounds more like it. Instead of kicking out people who have had NOTHING to do with these attacks and many whose families have been here for GENERATIONS, I have a better solution. One that isn't insane and immoral for a whole slew of reasons.

STOP goose stepping around the Middle East like it is our playground. We have been overthrowing governments covertly and overtly in the region for over 60 years, it's time we got the hell out of there. Oh, and spend the money from our misadventures on INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES.

FYI I am American born and bred with MY family being here as long as yours. And no, I am not of Arab or Muslim descent- pure WASP. My major was history so pleasedon't lecture me. And I am of the generation who was taught us history, civics and since I was brought up in CA (in fact my grandparents lived in pacific palisade and my father and cousin were raised there) I was taught calif history as well.
I, however, am not a racist.

 

I'm curious, McCorkindale. Do you have any figures about what percentage of Muslims in the US have committed acts of terrorism? Or have participated in marches like in the picture you showed? Here's a thought for you - maybe we shouldn't throw out over a million average, normal, hard-working Americans because their religion happens to share a name (and some basic tenets, but not the more important ones) with that of a handful of (*)(*)(*)(*)ing sociopaths.
