Lets be honest, all the evils committed by the American Government were done with the support from both parties and not just one party. So both parties are to blame and ultimately the voters aka the American public for repeatedly voting them in office, for supporting their evil acts and partisan politics.

    I'll start:

    - Hiroshima
    - Vietnam
    - Slavery
    - KKK
    - Afghan war
    - Iraq war
    - Drones
    - NSA
    - PAtriot Act
    - Waterboarding
    - Guantanamo

Taking things out of context makes it easy to label events that have historical and meaningful backgrounds as something they are not.

I will give a for instance.

Hiroshima: Hiroshima killed far fewer people than an invasion of the mainland was proposed to kill. The Japanese had shown time and again that they would fight to the last man and taught their women and children the same thing and Japanese propaganda horrors were seen in places like Okinawa where women jumped off of cliffs with babies in their arms to avoid being captured by the beast (Americans), to the horror of the on watching Americans.

So your start is a bit tepid and unrelated to reality to begin with. Now I will discuss other incursions including why we got into a war with Japan but Hiroshima is a non starter.

    Eugenics/Forced sterilization
    MKULTRA
    Gold confiscation
    Widespread police brutality
    Persecution of whistleblowers
    Proliferation of weapons to terrorists
Using veto power to allow any and all Israeli war crimes and land theft
    Brainwashing
    Chemical weapon attacks
    Rendition
    Coverups
    Arbitrary assassinations and summary executions
Indefinate detainment without due process and torture

With all due respect though, don't blame the people. They've been duped by those who have assumed power and their corporate sponsors.

I'm not a Christian but have some understanding about what it means.

Christian belief holds very strongly that salvation is directly related to the four Cs:
    Compassion
    Contrition
    Confession
    Compensation

    1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
    Romans 13:5-8
Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
    Leviticus 19:13
“You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.
There's a lot more but you get the picture.

If we as a nation can face our sins against our neighbors and do what we can to make it right again then are we a great nation still. If we mock the cries of the poor, the widow, the sick, and the orphan who has been harmed by our will, and deny the stain of blood on our hand, then our greatness is built on sand and great will be our fall.

Strike that reverse it. The for 'C's as you put it are a function of the fact that you have been saved. And two of those are debateable.

I was born in Pakistan but am now a US citizen. Planning to move again soon back to Pakistan or UK where also I have lived a year.

Ignorance is not an excuse. There are too many who spew hate against other countries and other races, religion etc. I could forgive the silent majority but not the minority who cheer on their government's evil actions.

As if that's a good excuse.
The so called world police is the only one to ever have used the nuclear bombs. In recent history has started more wars than any other nation.

Number 1 in what? Are you blind to all of the positive contributions America has made to the world? Name one country that has made more positive contributions than the United States.

Some of you people are so focused on the negative that you can't even see the full picture.

    Luke 18:9-14
    King James Version (KJV)
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Americans are not evil. Americans are like every other peoples on the planet, some good, some bad, some short, some fat.

American deeds through the decades are in many cases far less evil than the alternatives available at the time.

Take any list of a country's misdeeds out of context as somebody here said, and it can read like a litany of malfeasance, criminality and inhumanity. But it doesn't reflect many of the hard moral choices that realpolitik and its associated global power games necessitate.

Being the sole superpower left standing after two world wars, a 40 year cold war, two asian wars, three middle eastern wars, numerous military engagements elsewhere, leaves a whole bunch of scars.

Another way to look at Americans is their unquestioningly generous humanitarian aid whenever and wherever disaster strikes. Even if its an enemy. They have given Billions in foreign aid to developing countries, technical assistence, and training. They established the peace core. they are by far the most charitable donors on the planet. They have built thousands of schools, irrigated tens of thousands of acres of arable land. They have shared their expertise willingly.

Are they nasty basterds when crossed? you betcha. Are they good friends? you betcha.

For all that washington has turned into a gigantic political clustermuck, even when they shoot themselves repeatedly in the foot, America is still the richest country in the history of mankind. Staying number one is the challenge that hopefully the pols and the people will get their heads out of their asses and meet that challenge. If there is to be a sole superpower, then the world is a better place with America being it, comrade.
