Interpol and the NRA agree. President Obama looks to Europe for direction...think he'll take ISG Noble's advice?

What never ceases to amaze me is how anti-gun bigots can ignore the evidence and logic of responsible self defense while pursuing failed philosophies that so cavalierly risk the lives of others. When a New York paper printed the names and addresses of conceal carry citizens they shortly thereafter became concerned for their own well being and safety...did they post gun free zone signs or rush to the legislators and ask for more laws to be passed? No, they hired people with guns to protect them. I see and support their conclusion if they feel threatened, be it real or anticipatory, but must ask...can you say hypocritical?

Don't you just love the testimony going on about the stand your ground law today on capital hill? Talk about ignoring the logic of responsible self defense.

Do you need to bring your toy to Starbucks? What never ceases to amaze me is how gun nuts always portray themselves as being in imminent danger all the time. I like the term "anti-gun bigots" because, after all, guns have feelings too. :frown:

They hired trained professions who don't conceal their guns. No hypocrisy.

So I should bring my guns to Starbucks because somebody once got shot in a McDonald's? Sorry, but I'm not an obsessive coward, and I'm not going to let society turn me into one.

What??? you mean we are all mind readers and know when and where we will be put in imminent danger from unpredictable criminal elements.....SHEESH I'm sorry I missed that anti-gun lesson. Where can I sign up for the next one?:roll:

I guess you missed the anti-gun lesson on undercover cops or the lesson on plain clothes detectives who do conceal their guns, Hypocrisy be thy middle name :roflol::salute:

Naw leave yer guns at home...you will never ever need one, trust me. However you are an obsessive coward for wanting to force others who do need to protect themselves with guns by trying to make them think the gubberment will be there when they need them, which is already a demonstrably false fact. Really you make me LOL with your ill informed comments.

You are not in imminent danger while drinking coffee in Starbucks. If you believe you are, then that's an issue you have to deal with.

I guess you missed my post about how it's not hypocrisy for trained state officials to keep the peace while armed.

Be there for what? All of the Starbucks murders? Watch out... they're gonna gitcha!

Wal-Mart, McDonalds, The Mall, Schools, Colleges, parking lots, streets, home, how am I to know....the deal with it issue you so perversely ignore is no one knows...thus the real misrepresentation of your comment. Deal with it is actually up to you because there is no basis in fact in your comments, just tripe!

Guess you missed my inference that it is your hypocrisy to believe that trained state officials will not be there to protect a citizens life, armed or not while they are being beat/stabbed/shot to death by bad people. Most of the time they are attempting to solve a crime, not prevent it. Again, hypocrisy be thy middle name eh?

Pretty narrow minded response here eh? Substitute company "XYZ" for starbucks and we can see your model falls apart. Really, who cares what company....that was never the point and I'm quite certain you knew that, what is more important....and you alluded to it. One never knows where one might be put in imminent threat of death or great bodily harm, we just aren't capable of the mind reading ability you like to imply. I did get a good laugh here though.....Thanks

Not tripe... just truth. I'm sick of these anti-American claims that the USA is a war zone and all citizens need to be armed because they're in imminent danger.

Again, protection from what? Why am I not nearly as afraid as you? Am I a fool to not carry my guns around town because I'm at great risk of being shot?

What are a person's chances of being shot in McDonald's? Again, you're ignoring reality. The chances are so low that your "defensive" gun becomes a mere toy.

No it's tripe, and it's actually anti-American to claim that self defense isn't our right...whether we are at Starbucks or Wal-Mart. Oh and as an FYI because I know you kinda don't understand this point......people don't carry arms because they are in imminent danger, like cops they carry because they never know when or where they MIGHT be in imminent danger. The hole you are digging is getting deeper

I don't know...do you? I can't tell you who is good or bad and what some ones intentions are....obviously you can so you feel quite confident in not carrying a weapon, too bad the rest of the world doesn't have your psychic ability eh?. Just a little hint, those armed gubberment officials carry guns because they can't tell either. The fallacy of your post is that you believe people carry because of the GREAT risk of being shot. This is the crock of you anti-gunners. People carry because of the possibility or because there are influencing factors that increase risk such as age disparity, gender difference, numbers disparity, size disparity etc. Your ideology would make whole classes of people suffer because you don't think YOU are at risk. That seems very selfish to me.

Who cares what the chances are, YOUR beliefs put those who actually do face the risks from being able to defend their lives just because YOU don't like it. You will probably never know how many people peacefully carry concealed carry weapons around you, you defend yourself your way...or don't, they will defend theirs the way they see fit. Maybe you can explain the toy factor to those who have decided not to wait for those gubberment officials and defended their own lives with their toys. At your behest...they would be dead, that makes your an executioner, I think you are willing to let Americans die for your silly belief, you must be proud

Starbucks is known to serve coffee, yes?

No one, not even trained professionals always know when their lives will be placed in jeopardy. I suspect that that if someone was expecting trouble and could not avoid it, they would be carrying a long gun not a pistol.

Something a little "off" about this story

And for a start half the news on the internet thinks his name is Ronald Noble not Robert Noble

Secondly it is something purported to have been said by a person and is NOT the general policy of Interpol itself

Thirdly - he is American

There it is! Doth xenophobia rears its ugly head? :) However I suspect in your case a pretty one. The accursed "is American" brand :)

I certainly hope it is not because of the color of his skin (not directed at you BB, but rather at the bigots, in general, who use race, creed, national origin, or skin color as part of their strategy to attack or question a person's contribution/relevance because of their idea(s), belief(s) or position(s). These cretins are left with attacking the person rather than his/her idea(s) because all to often that is all they really have. Kinda juvenile, don't cha think?

Mr Ronald Noble is, I'm sure, as a highly placed leader of Interpol not free of controversy, but what is wrong with his opinion regarding a tactic (common sense for some) to deter terrorism and mass murder? Even if it is happening "over there" for now it may one day find its way to a land that enjoys some natural geographical protection from externally generated politically oriented violent aggression and then what? What of those already dead? What if firearms were deployed to save their lives? In America we have/had members of "Jamaican Posses" (violent criminal immigrants) who achieved status by being able to coldly murder innocents. The status was that not even ending the lives of innocents could deter or affect you. Terrorist profile, really.

Mr. Noble is spot on.

As for the half that is incorrect about his name...though he is an American, for at least half the internet he must also be an "International Man of Mystery," kinda brings... ...to mind :)

I do not know if the Press has ever been objective or without an agenda, It certainly has erred, as all things run by humans are susceptible to, nonetheless here is the article in question, with selected quotes (I agree with).

BB, I imagine that you are planning for retirement by making individual investment choices and having annual check-ups to monitor your biological systems and, of course, looking both ways before crossing the street. If you are being personally responsible by preparing for the rest of your life, why then, would you trust a government, not up to the task nor legally responsible for your individual safety/life, of saving it when it is in imminent danger as were those civilians killed by terrorists who honor no laws or society's norms?

The danger is greatest in GUN FREE ZONES=CURRENT PREDATOR ZONE. If the belief that the answer to free speech (if you are for that) is more free speech, perhaps when faced with armed aggressive criminals or tyrant, the answer is in the content of the Second Amendment. The Right of being able to exercise (but you do not have to) your right to keep and bear arms.

Do you practice and plan to practice fire safety? How about firearm safety? Why? You're not about to start a fire or use a firearm in an unsafe manner are you? What is your problem with others being prepared for circumstances they wish to have more control over? Ask a crime victim if they would like to extricate themselves from a life changing/threatening criminal circumstance if they could? Why would a drowning man grasp at straw in his effort to stay alive? Perhaps, because that is all that was available to him? Why is it that the police and others are training students, facing an armed aggressor/aggressors, to throw erasers, pencils, books etc. in self defense and not willingly allow themselves to be killed without a response, even if it proves futile? Would common sense suggest (the citizen) good guys/ladies with guns are the answer to (evil intentioned) bad guys with guns, an armed citizenry as a self defense answer to invasion or tyranny?

What control does the unarmed have when proximal to the armed? Well if the armed is a criminal then what ever the armed criminal allows. However the armed citizen is encountered and passed in peace.

I get it, you choose to disarm yourself, but why is it your desire to stand between the citizens of the United States of America (and your hometown) and their Second Amendment Right (inclusive of the opportunity to plan for and exercise the right to self defense)?

I get a kick out of people screaming "tyranny"... the same kind of people who sit in their LazEboys, sipping a beer, watching cable, kicking back, their biggest problem is whether to get the remote or just watch whatever comes on next. Yeah, that's tyranny.

As for me being unarmed... why would i need to be armed? I've never needed my guns and I never will. I just have them for sport. They certainly aren't for protecting myself in McDonald's. I'm not going to selfishly put people around me at risk because of my personal fears.

Are you that unsafe with a firearm? If you are, best turn it in to your local dismantling station and just give them up.
So, you're promoting a new wild west by owning a gun in Australia....'sup with that?
Don't you know, by your own arguments, that you are more likely to be shot by your own gun? At least that's part of the anti-gun crowd's argument.
pssssssssst, I don't believe you own even a slingshot

I am proficient and I've used my firearms often.

I'm talking about math. When there is no gun around people, their chances of being shot are zero. When there is a gun around them, for whatever reason, those chances are no longer zero.

I was more thinking of the fact his thinking has been flavoured by his cultural background. America has a VERY different gun culture to the rest of the world
