Look at the numbers of dead and injured. Look at the number of civilians. Iraq is still a mess. Was it all for nothing? U.N.: 979 people died in Iraq in October Published November 2nd, 2013 - 15:28 GMT via SyndiGate.info [1] According to a report by the United Nations, 979 people were killed in Iraq in October 2013. According to a report by the United Nations, 979 people were killed in Iraq in October 2013. Of the casualties, 852 were civilians and 127 belonged to the military and police force. AP reports that in addition to the casulaties, 1,902 Iraqis were injured in Iraq in October. Earlier today, four people were killed in attacks in Samarra and Mosul. According to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said that terrorists "got a second chance" to thrive in Iraq, largely as the result of the rise of al-Qaida fighters in neighboring Syria's civil war . He added the world needs to help Iraq deal with its deadly insurgency. Nearly half of the deaths occurred in Baghdad followed by Ninevah province . Bloodshed in Iraq accelerated sharply after April 23 . On that date, a crackdown by security forces on a Sunni protest camp in a northern Iraqi town set off a chain of near daily attacks. Today, Iraq is seeing its worst levels of violence since 2006, when over ten thousand people were killed in Sunni Shia sectarian conflicts. http://www.albawaba.com/news/iraq-october-casualties-530706
Probably...Ask Obama. He's the commander in chief... From Obamacare, summer of recovery, and cash for clunkers, etc.; if there's a president that you can almost bank on F'ing things up, that would be Obama...
Neither did Harry S. Truman, but after destroying Japan during WW2, he was able to pacify the Japanese.... Apparently for Obama, there's always someone else to blame.. Worse commander in chief, ever.... I feel sorry for the stupid liberals that support him...
It's kind of amusing to see liberals more concerned about Iraqi dead, than Chicago dead or New Orleans dead. Really, the only way the dead on American streets can get the Left's attention is to be killed by a white male that the media can somehow link to the Right politically. They could care less about all the black kids in bodybags across the fruited plains here. There is no political value in pointing out that Democrat governance and polices have failed America horribly, and keeping political power is everything to the Democrats.
No, let's talk to the idiotic George Bush whose inept, illegal and failed war was the catalyst for the endless litany of violence and death in Iraq. Or did you forget who started this deadly fiasco? http://www.iraqbodycount.org/
You mean the SAME Obama who needlessly kept us engaged in Iraq for 18 more months after becoming president and the same Obama who STILL has us engaged in Afghanistan? The same Obama who did his very best to get us committing an unprovoked first strike against Syria? That -- er -- peace president?
Hell, I think it's interesting that the instant Obama won the 2008 election our leftwingers ceased being vocal and active peaceniks (all the war protesters just vanished) and instead became war supporters, because "Ahem! It's NEVER wrong when Democrats do it!" Poor ol' Cindy Sheehan was left alone with a protest sign in her hand, looking around a deserted landscape while plaintively asking, "Where did everybody go?"
No, I clearly mean your stupid hero, Bush, whose mess Obama has had to clear up. Remember, it wasn't just the US who were involved in the illegal war and the situation of troop withdrawal demanded a hell of a lot more than a simple click of the fingers.
You do realize that Iraq was crippled by two decades of war and sanctions when we attacked them.. Remember that Chalabi convinced Bush that we would be welcomed as liberators.
What is sad is that Obama's PC policies and rules of engagement is what is getting our soldiers killed. He is fully responsible for this fiasco and the news agencies don't care because he's the first black democratic president. They are silent. Lets see the caskets coming home like we did under Bush.
I personally think that G.W. Bush was evil, but you know something really interesting? I see no reason why therefore I should auto issue Obama a free pass for the terrible things that he's done as president. I don't use a sliding scale wherein a slightly less bad president can get away with evil of his own sans strong criticism. Sigh! I just wish that the same could be said of the average Obama supporter.
This is absolute nonsense. The moment Bush's soldiers left the gates were open for the sectarian violence which has continued, unabated, ever since. To blame this on Obama is disingenuous to say the least, and reveals your partisan position. - - - Updated - - -
Truth to tell I still have not made up my mind if Bush and his inner circle were Evil or simply clueless idiots. I lean toward labeling them evil, but I'm not really sure. I can, however, call them bad, in all honesty. But what no Obama supporter has as of yet managed to adequately explain to me is why I should cut Obama and his inner circle slack when they also do evil or stupid things.
They were clueless IMO... and under the influence of Chalabi.. You can't listen to dissident ex-pats. Has Obama made mistakes? Yes... definitely, but he was never about regime change and he didn't instigate or control the Arab Spring.. My problem with this ongoing mess in Iraq.. is that we lost so many young men.... and many, many others were maimed... For what???
All presidents eventually do that at one point or the other -- or at least wish that they could. None of them -- with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter, who totally sucked as President -- are saints. They are all too selfish and arrogant for that. But our leftwingers who point the trembling finger of blame rightward and hysterically shriek, "Bush was worse than Obama!" are completely missing the point. Obama wasn't supposed to have been a marginally better human being than Bush. He wasn't supposed to have been a slightly more competent president than Bush. He wasn't supposed to be only slightly less of a stone cold warmonger than Bush. Obama was supposed to have been one hell of a lot better as a human being and far more competent and he was supposed to have been a peace president . . . and so to our leftwingers I'd like to pose the question; "Then what the hell happened with Obama? Don't tell us about Bush. We KNOW about Bush. Tell us about Obama instead and why his incompetence and his endless lies to the nation and -- yes -- his warmongering somehow make him . . . good much less great."
That doesn't excuse it in any way shape or form. I hated Bushy too!!!...but I do agree with this post. Yes, tell us about Obama.
Amazing. I've never seen such desperate deflection since I joined this site. Sorry, eleison, but this is one thing you can't pin on Obama. He didn't start the war... he ended it. Here is where you move on to gitmo...
They were lost and maimed so that Bush and company could become billionaires off the books -- as near as I ever figured out, and so that their war business cronies could become equally wealthy beyond their previous dreams of avariciousness. It appears that Obama's motivations along the same lines -- keeping the Iraq War Venture going an needless 18 extra months and having us still in Afghanistan-- mostly had to do with making it possible to get re-elected in 2012. Had he gotten us out of Iraq way early then when the nation began falling apart -- as has been inevitable -- he would get the blame during the re-election cycle. Ditto for getting us out of Afghanistan prior to 2012. So in Obama's case all the maiming and killing was done simply for cynical political reasons. So both Bush and Obama are evil . . . just for different reasons.
For those on the left, do you agree with Obama's foreign policies, his rules of engagement with the enemy, with the leaks from the White House divulging the names of the Seal Team 6? What is it that you like about his foreign policies?
Obama did his very best to get us engaged in war action against Syria several months ago and the only reasons he did not manage to do it is that -- surprisingly -- Great Britain told him to get stuffed, our own legislative branch held off on endorsing his war bid, and then finally Kerry's quip gave Russia's Putin to sweep the warmonger legs out from beneath both Obama and Kerry. You might have heard or read about some of this stuff because it was in the news.
