Silly analogy. Since when is a motor vehicle a tool?

Agreed. And a good call on "What has been reported thus far"
We cant forget that a young woman was just gunned down in DC for driving erratic. Call a car a weapon that's fine, it can be. But just think of the headlines if that same woman had been gunned down for driving erratic by a private citizen (a Zimmerman maybe?) A whole different story. But then we must ask why a different story? Same threat, same ending, entirely different story. Strange days indeed.

    - - - Updated - - -

Id flinch if I saw an 85 year old woman driving half a Cadillac too. That can never end well.

well the police are there to protect and serve... the Zimmerman's types are just there to report... huge difference in the two cases

one was national security, evading police, ect.., the other was a kid walking home at nite after purchasing some skiddles doing nothing wrong

In case you haven't noticed the protect and serve motto is pretty much outdated and disbanded.
I had a feeling throwing the name Zimmerman into the mix would cause confusion and prejudicial judgments on my theoretical. My bad, sorry you missed it.

i missed the part where you needed tools to break into a home. secondly are we supposed to be able to read minds before having the right to defend yourself or your property?

Your correct on both counts but his defense of accidental discharge would negate both. The old saying "Cant have your cake and eat it too" applies. So far as has been reported.

This type of violence (self defense paranoia) will become even more common in our country as our Gun Culture continues. Though I do not particularly like guns...I do own one, and the reason for it is to protect my family from intruders.

As I am unaware of the thoughts in the shooters mind, I am unqualified to make a critical analysis....but I will state that if I feared someone was violating my home and thus my family....they would have been shot as well.

I would say a guy sneaking along behind you following you in the dark who refuses to identify himself or his purpose when confronted is far more "threatening" than someone knocking or banging outside on your door.

So if you go crazy and dismember someone with a chainsaw I have to turn in my saw to the nearest police station?

Acting on the fear that someone is violating your home could land you in prison in many states. Be careful out there.

How you arrived at that conclusion from a screwdriver in a socket is also mildly shocking:eyepopping:

Here is a link that shows what is permitted for use of deadly force in self-defense, state-by-state. It is not very detailed, but shows the basics: http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2012/04/us/table.selfdefense.laws/

I bitterly regret what this country is turning into, and I've done all I could to stand against the debilitating "hope and change" fraud that has badly harmed what was once a far better country. It wasn't "Utopia", but it sure as hell wasn't the current "Dystopia". And, unless I miss my guess, it will get even worse....

The screwdriver in a socket quote was just a gun grabbing lib insulting a gun owner who failed to agree to the anti gun agenda.

There are several key facts left out of the article. Such as, why was McBride in a neighborhood, where she obviously did not live, at that hour? Why did she hit a parked car? Why did she leave the scene of the accident when the neighbor went in to call 911? What was she afraid of? Was she intoxicated? Or on drugs? How was she acting when she knocked on homeowners door? What made the homeowner think that she was attempting to break in?

While I do not condone the homeowner's actions, I see too many unanswered questions to draw any real conclusions.

One of us is confused. As a competitive rifle shooter that has poured most of his income into the hobby over the years I can assure you I own quite a few firearms. All bought and paid for and many built/modified right in my basement, didn't grab them from anybody. Never had the desire to grab anyones firearms and would likely die defending that right.
Never voted for a democrat in my life because by the age of 18 I already realized enough of the game being played and realized the importance of the 2nd.
You sure your reading me right?

I think he’ll get off scott free with no jail time and the woman and her family will get no justice what-so-ever.

I think that (even though she’s the one that’s dead) “she’ll” be put on trial instead of the killer and everything she ever did her entire life from spitting out chewing gum on the sidewalk to j-walking will be brought up in court while the defense attorney/s do a brilliant job of painting her as an evil wretch that deserved to die.

I have absolutely lost all faith in our judicial system as the crazies are now running the asylum (so to say).

After all………that’s the new norm in our country.

    God Bless America………
