Agreed. 100%. Left wing vs Right wing = Emotion v Logic and Reason

You can tell, because they never expect their to be consequences for their actions, and when there are, they emote about them. Never confront them. Ever hear a lefty say "Social Security is flawed because it is based on the false presumption that the American population will always grow at a rate capable of sustaining it"? Of course not! They want to emote about the size of the population. They don't feel graphs treat them fairly! lol...

I'm not even talking about a family, I'm talking about a single, childless person. Leave it to you social conservatives to make it about sex.

I am a childless owner of a small business, that currently employs one person. Me. I hope to become successful. I hope to make millions. But, if the day ever comes that I employ others, and I hope that it does, I am far too honorable of a person to take home millions while my employees, the people for whom I am responsible, don't have enough to feed themselves.

Why? I'm not responsible for them. If, and only if, they become my employees do I owe them anything. And if you are of the opinion that only your employees owe YOU, rather than you also owing them, then you are part of the problem.

A childless person could easily rent an apartment with 3-4 people - if they were all working full time, even for just min wage - they could have a net rent cost of $200 per month or less. If they lived bare bones they could live on as little as $600 per month.

I enjoy sex very much, thank you

Then you probably have no clue how the average 'poor person' in America actually lives

You're responsible to pay them for their services - not to "make sure" they're living the lifestyle they want.

Blaming "the CEO" is dumb, because he isn't a dictator who gets to run his business on a whim how he feels like it - he's accountable to the shareholders and the board of directors, and loses his job if he doesn't generate a profit

Real statistics are cold but tell a truth that only a living mind can recognize. Part of the problem is that modern "consumers" are encouraged to "Feel Much" but taught to "Think Little". If a population has more affinity for feeling and not so much for thinking then who is to fill the necessary "thinking" roles and who's fault is it?

That is the role of "experts" didnt you know? The "Experts" are invariably people rest their arguments on logical fallacies but since they at least make an attempt they are given top billing. Paul krugman is the poster child for this expert/intellectual cohort I am talking about. Naomi Klein is another.

Did they, or you actually post any real stats or are you just dodging the obvious? As it is I, nor anyone else, can ascertain your "Expert" marksmanship without an actual chart... or graph... or powerpoint...

I did the $6 per employee per year if they get him to give up his salary and not only equalize himself but go beneath them. Then asked is this what they are campaigning for?

Still a stable sound investment for many people saving and investing for their retirement so they won't be a burden to later generations. Why do you ask?

Do the employees have a stock option? If not, throw em' a bone. And maybe offer select MBA scholarship(college of your choice) for those actually interested in moving up then give them preferential placement in the corprate structure as their performance dictates...

For the peter principalities, well, they're just a happy meal now aren't they...

They want full time minimum wage to pay 32k a year. This way 2 people in the same house working minimum wage will be in the upper middle class if they werent unemployed or paying for the unemployment rate that would result.

In NYC or in South Dakota? I can live fine in SD on $10,000 a year. NYC... not so much. Are their demands "Local Cost of Living" specific?

Not to mention the fact that who in their right mind would expect to be anywhere near middleclass in an entry level job that requires ZERO skills?

    Lemme tell you a secret...

    I've been in kitchens around this country for the past 14 years. I'm a skilled chef because I learned a trade. It's commonly known as: C O O K I N G !

I learned by being interested in learning more and earning more money... I can Sauté, Soufflé, Casserole, and Bake.

Guess what my average starting wage as a skilled and experienced line cook in NYC was?

~$10-$11 an hour. That's not even a living wage in NYC. But people with brains still make it work somehow...

No stock option. No scholarships. 12hour shifts(try that McD's) and I still made too much for any "welfare" assistance but not enough for rent.

It comes down to your view of property rights. Should people be entitled to the voluntary fruits of their labor, or should the state hand out all wealth based on their conception of wealth? I opt for the latter, but to each their own.

Neither - McDonalds is the definition of state-corporate collusion. I try to grow my own food or buy from my local market. Why give my money to thieves when I can give it to other individuals?

McDonalds is welcome to pay its employees whatever it likes, but it should expect no limited liability, no barriers to market entry, no subsidies, no taxation going toward keeping their employees out of poverty, no monetary policy that benefits banks and multinationals, etc.

People need to proactively take their liberty for themselves. Grow your own food, it's significantly cheaper than McDonalds, and your money doesn't go to thieves. Everybody's a winner!

So be an ACTUAL individual and just don't eat there! Why do you have to have a pirate avatar to decide for yourself?

Not quite that simple when I'm constantly having my property seized without consent to pay for subsidies and benefits for McDonalds and other multinationals.

As for the pirate avatar, it's an Agorist symbol - means exactly that: taking the initiative and using non-violent means to avoid the state. Encryption, voluntary trade, black and grey markets, etc. I don't eat at McDonalds, nor do I buy from Coles or Woolworths (Australian grocery duopoly).

Personally I've never really liked Vegemite.

Popular beliefs about Aussies are usually just as true as popular beliefs about Americans or anyone else. Most Americans don't own M4s, most Australians don't throw shimp on the barbie ;)

Nope. Otherwise they would let the states do it. Florida 62k for a 2 earner family is upper middle class. 32k by itself is higher then the personal median income, so that minimum wage worker would be upper middle class against the national average too.

Exactly, this will cause unemployment for everyone without the job skills to demand $15 an hour.

$15 an hour IS too high, just as $7.25 IS too low.

Once again the extremies on both sides outnumber the normal people who actually could get something done in this country.

Also, I'd like to add, that I don't agree that these CEOs are scumbags, or (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s, or anything else for doing exactly what they are hired to do. Maximize profits within the law. I just believe the law should be adjusted.

How much per hour is a jewelers apprentice worth? Someone who can't produce anything yet , will take a trained person's time and is likely to botch a few cuts?

There are consequences to a higher minimum wage and they are borne by the poor and low skilled looking to learn. What arbitrary number do you think is best?

I've already detailed all of this in the other threads. Frankly I'm not posting all the data in yet a third, fourth, or fifth, whatever thread. But I have proven CONCLUSIVELY that a reasonable min wage increase to say $9.25 an hour would lead to maybe a 2% higher unemployment rate, and about a 1% rise in prices across the board. Those numbers are confirmed by historical data.

Oh and by the way the minimum wage is ALWAYS arbitrary and has nothing to do with what any job is worth, so changing from $7.25 an hour to $9.25 an hour doesn't change from actual value to an arbitrary value.
