Not even hard line Right wingers would refuse to feed the kids. This isn't a Lib/Con issue. This is a common sense issue. I am beginning to think more and more people don't have a bit of it.

Almost weekly we hear about some incredably stupid action like this from our "educators". Who ever is responsible for stupid things should be fired immediately and bared from the field of education!!!!!

Sounds nice. Then go ask every city to raise taxes to compensate for the extra funds/resources needed and see what happens. No big deal right? Certainly can't ask schools to just find a way, unless we yank some of the bloated admin salaries(still won't be enough), especially when their districts don't perform well...blame unions for that &$*#*#.

It wasn't teachers... it was management.

The question is... was it the result of outsourced management, i.e., was it because the caffeteria function was outsourced to a private contractor, or was the caffeteria being managed in-house?

Horrible situation, absolutely ghastly! And it happens at a school somewhere at least once a day. Sheniqua spends all her subsistance money on bling, designer clothing, Twinkies, booze, drugs and big Lincoln (Fiat) cars and has no money left in her EBT card account to transfer to her seven children's school lunch account.

Does it matter where it is? Do you have an opinion on the practice? Everyone should find the story disgusting.

You do not know whether they were conservatives, liberals or in the center. Why make everything a political issue? What happen was wrong.

The other thread was about a private school and I talked about the humiliation to kids and not about a conservative/liberal issue.

They didn't deny them lunch. They had alternate lunches for those without money.

There was logic in what was said. It has nothing to do with the school system. It is about a private contractor and cafeteria personnel. Believe it or not, MA liberal status is only for the state. Many individual towns are conservative on local issues.

Everyone should stop making it about politics and just discuss the issue. Was it right to throw away lunches and not feed the kids? We all should agree that it was wrong.

Horrendous behavior on the part of the school (complete idiots), and EVEN WORSE BEHAVIOR on the part of the PARENTS , (total jackasses) , not keeping track of ther own childrens' daily lives.

employees of the school lunch vendor, Whitsons School Nutrition, denied lunches to students with outstanding balances or forced them to throw their lunches away over the last two weeks.

This whole incident was done by the company. The people telling kids to throw away their lunches worked for Whitsons. Nobody should be blamed except for the company.

And in both cases, a for profit private company contracting with the school was responsible.

What does this situation have to do with public education? Private contractor screwed up, period.

Everything is not a political issue.

So let me see if I have this right- the company that runs the school's food service did this and the OP is trying to blame the left? Haha! Wow- massive fail.

cant agree with all of that Bomac.

Never got the statement, and obviously didn't follow up on it, and it then came to a head in the story we are reading now.

Cafeteria Workers...it might be as you state above, but it could also include those employed by the school. With the above in mind, Boles dropping the ball, i'm not inclined to let anyone off the hook so easily.

Interesting, not only is this is a RED state but a state dominated by the Mormon Church and you'd think they would have shown some compassion and Christian charity towards the children.

I agree... but the op is trying to blame the education system, not the company that did it. Nowhere did it say tecaher or admin condoned what happened.

    OP agenda was exposed....

Looks like someone in the Education system dropped the ball too....

He should have followed up on this before it came to this.

What do you not agree with?

In a statement to FOX 25, Whitsons said that they regret how their employees handled the situation.

"We regret that these students were denied meals and agree that this situation should have been handled differently," said Whitsons. "We apologize to the students and the community for this incident and are conducting a full investigation."
