During the Right Flight exodus, another GOP member has left the party citing Tea Part extremism. Former Nevada Lg. Governor Sue Wagner said this week that she has left the Republican party because "It's grown so conservative and tea-party oriented, and I just can't buy into that”

Former Nev. Lt. Gov. Says She's Leaving 'Tea-Party Orientated' GOP

Former Nevada Lt. Gov. Sue Wagner said Tuesday that she recently left the Republican party.

"It's grown so conservative and tea-party orientated and I just can't buy into that," Wagner told the Reno Gazette-Journal. "I've left the Republican Party and it's left me, at the same time."

Wagner reflected on a party that has changed over the past few years.

"I did it as a symbol, I guess, that I do not like the Republican Party and what they stand for today," Wagner said. "I've been a Republican all my life. My dad was active (in the GOP) in the state of Maine where I was born. It was more of a moderate, liberal Republican Party."

Wagner, who served from 1991 to 1995 as the first female lieutenant governor in Nevada, supports abortion rights. In 2010, she would not endorse Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle because of her "extreme" views on abortion.

House Speaker Boehner has historically accommodated uncompromising tea party positions. Lately, however, he has been less compromising, blasting Tea Party supporters in December for advising the shutdown strategy.

The only power the TP has is through the GOP, but the GOP is now refusing to let these extremists hijack their party. Is this the end of the Tea Party?

Are you okay with complete Democrat domination?

The GOP has it's lowest approval ratings ever. They are seen as scary and out of touch (based on their own RNC autopsy report). Don't you think it's time for the party to modernize and become a little more moderate?

Democrats need some healthy competition, not a monopoly of Capital Hill, which may happen sooner than you think. The House has shown to be inconsequential.

I hope its a more moderating of the TP. It has some good ideas. I myself have been turned off highly by the GOP as of late. I'm more of a libertarian as it is

    The TEA Party is "Extreme"?????

Extreme is spending $17 TRILLION DOLLARS with a plan to run that number up to $22 TRILLION DOLLARS with no plan on how to pay it back. It's generational thievery by Democrats and establishment Republicans... and it's EXTREME.

Is the Tea Party extreme? Why not ask Republicans who are leaving the GOP because of the Tea Party's extremism.

"I have not left the Republican party, the Republican party has left me" is becoming a mantra.

Another Republican who left the Tea Party for exactly the same reasons as Wagner:

He seems like a pretty cool guy.

Are these people not elected by the people? So they are doing what they were elected to do. If you call them extreme than the people of their area is extreme also. The left acts like these tea party politician just appeared from no where. There is a reason the win their seats. The people want them there. So deal with it.

The Tea Party is forcefully forcing their agenda onto the GOP, thus forcing them to represent Tea Party values and not the values of their constituents. The Tea Party is not a real party, so it acts through the Republican party. This will change.

The Tea Party will either be forced to become more moderate or form a real party. I can't see any other way for an extremist party (liberal or conservative) to survive.

I remember when the Leftists were howling about the end of the TEA Party.... in fact, fiscal responsibility that the TEA Party supports is exactly what leftists are against. They don't care that they are stealing from their children's future.

ROFL! How exactly are they "forcing"... you just made this crazy crap up.

Same as the progressive or liberals work through the dem party. Again they were elected by the people. The left wish to shut down the tea party's voice. By doing so you are shutting down the people's voice. But the left doesn't care about that cause if you don't like what the left has to offer than you are nothing in the progressive view.

It seems the GOP is being pulled in 3 directions.
    1) The last of the NeoCons or Bush lackies, including "regular Republicans" like Christie
    2) Tea Party
    3) Libertarians.

There is certainly overlap in areas of interest and candidates appeal.

The Democrats are likewise going to face a pull between
    1) Obama/Clinton, Pelosi, The Liberal machine
    2) Disaffected labor, working folks, etc. currently without a leader. Rand Paul terms them "Blue Republicans".

With any luck at all we will see a major Party reconstitution with lots and lots of cross over voting.
I see the Disaffected Democrats finding an appeal of the Libertarians and likewise the Tea Party to hopefully create a strong Paul Pole of smaller government separated from Big Business and a non intervention foreign policy.
    I hope, I hope, I hope.

Oh, you mean like running as VPs Palin and Ryan? Therein lies your problem. They're the ones who killed your chances.

    The GOP simply can't win.

They have to run the cream of the crazy far right crop to get them through their primaries and get the nomination.

Then they can't win a popular election because of the circus they ran in their primaries.

They simply can't get enough support to win a national election.

What would be a big help is if you can get McConnell, Boehner, Cantor, Graham...to do the same thing.

We need a new, conservative Republican party.
You keep asking if this is the end of the Tea Party. You should consider asking if this is the end of the Establishment Republican party.

Oh that is funny! McCain was put in for exactly that reason. Those who pull the strings wanted a republican candidate that could be easily beat...enter McCain. His own state even sanctioned him for his pandering to the liberal progressives. LMFAO!!!! Poor Sarah didn't know what she was getting in to.

I think the Constitutional Conservatives, the people most likely to be Tea Party members, need to take over the Republican party. We no need to eliminate the back-stabbers like McCain.

There is no reason to have two democratic parties, one just a little bit more stalinist than the other.

I'm OK with it. The sooner the demise the better. Then we can hopefully raise America again to what it once was.
BTY European countries are now dealing with DEFLATION. We will soon follow....enjoy!!!!
