Possibly the Leading Actor of Our Time Dies At 46

Oh barf! He was a good character actor who might or might not have begun breaking into meatier roles as a permanent career change. He was also a drug addict who messed up. Sure it's a tragedy, but as such things go it's a small tragedy. End of story.

I think you have a f***ed up view of adult love and compassion for our fellow man. To trash on a dead man who obviously felt overwhelmed by his life and possibly took it, I find to be totally gruesome, selfish, jealousy prone,
and is precisely what separates us from animals in the forests.

Hoffman was a selfish, self-centered, SOB, who didn't deserve the children he had.

While I despise what he did to his family, if one seperates the man from the actor, the actor was one of an almost chameleon ability to sink into his roles. His MI3 villain was one for the ages, capote (while a dull film in general) rightfully got him an Oscar, but my favorite turn from him was in Charlie Wilsons War.
