Yeah, if people didn't have access to food stamps they would starve to death and then they wouldn't become those evil dependents. That's typical Repub thinking.

That's very distressing hearing active duty military having to use food stamps to get by. Shame on the republicans.

Only a total moron would say the GOP is obstructing the economy.

Which party is the one always doing everything they can to tax and punish and tax and hurt and tax and regulate and tax and demonize and tax corporations, large investors and job creators?

Speaking of failing to comprehend the situation, apparently you don't realize that it is not just active members of the military who shop at commissaries.

The article says "Nearly $104M redeemed at military commissaries" but that doesn't mean it's all active servicemen and their families. It could be vets, retirees, disabled vets, as well as national guard and members of the reserve.

Every single base I ever served on had its own mess hall where I got 3 hots (for free) every single day. I'd wager that a low percentage of those food stamp redemptions are from active servicemen.

No. He did not sign any bill that cut food stamps.

    - - - Updated - - -

No he can't. Commander in chief means he can order troops. It does not mean he controls their pay, benefits, or welfare.

I have worked in the commissary. Most of them are young active duty or retirees who have not been able to find supplemental work until they draw Social Security.

Families don't generally eat at the DFAC.

Did your Fuhrer forget to mention that the farm bill he signed on Feb 7 included $8 billion in food stamp cuts?

Shame on obama for not keeping you informed.

it's not a lie, the quote from the republican about not hiring is factually correct

obama takes money so that he can get his policies passed, policies that help the poor

what a joke, you don't appear to have even informed yourself of what was written in this thread

    from page one:

the subject of how the gop doesn't care about the poor and needy is germane to the conversation

that's funny coming from the guy that linked to a source about dinosaurs on noah's ark

A blind man with a nail gun could do a better job hitting the target than some of the posts in this thread. Maybe they will rename Walmart Obamamart so both sides will agree on something to hate.

The article states and a few posters have reaffirmed that this is the result of lower grade enlisted having lots of kids. It would be unrealistic to expect the lower E's to not have children as that is the age group when a lot of people start their families. I am not too keen on the idea of raising all their pay to a level that would keep the lowest among them with the most kids out of food stamp range either. I also am not sure I would support any program to encourage people to have more kids to up their pay. ` So, in the end, this situation is just a reality of life that I don't get my feathers ruffled over one way or the other as it is the most acceptable balance I can think of.

GE helps the poor by not paying taxes. Lol
Warren Buffett helps the poor making millions on tar sands? Lol
The Monsanto Bill helps the poor how?
JayZ being allowed to go to Cuba is helping the Poor?
Obama's sequester helped the poor how? Lol
Obama's policies on Wall Street crooks helped the poor?
Obama and holder banks too big to fail helped the poor how?
Obama student loan policies being so high helps the poor how?
That's enough I don't want to hijack this thread. If you want to keep this up than open a thread labeled progressive hypocrites and we can continue there.

I don't recall ever having said that people on food stamps are lazy welfare bums. I have no problem with giving people food, I have a problem with where the state sources this food from: taxation.

You should take that up with your fellow lib TheTaoOfBill who denied that Obama signed any stinkin' bill cuttin' food stamps.

The cult of worship for Obama on the left is so strong that they even ignore patently obvious facts about him.

I would qualify that to say that NOT EVERYONE on food stamps is a lazy welfare bum.

But some of them certainly are.
