Well Al Queda terrorists did over run our embassy in Benghazi, and killed our Ambassador, and other Americans on the anniversary of sept 11th.

Its what this thread is about.

Do you know when the Navy is going to release a map showing Obama's whereabouts during the attack?

I see. So the rebel forces being armed in their struggle against Gadaffi are all Al Qaeda affiliates? I also note that the words 'Al Qaeda' and any reference to Al Qaeda are conspicuous by their absence in the report.

No, most of the rebels were al queda, hired by qatar to invade libya, and backed by Arms supplied by obama. Then obama helped them militarily with 212 cruise missiles, and constant NATO air attack.

Kaddafi got stabbed in the anus, by al queda.

See this? Its the court house in Benghazi, see that black al queda flag on top? Theyre in charge of the government.

I'll let you in on a couple secrets you may never have known before:

THE UNITED STATES NAVY IS A PART OF THE DEFENSE DEPARTMENT, NOT THE STATE DEPARTMENT

TERRORISTS DON'T ADVERTISE THEIR FUTURE ATTACKS.

UNITED STATES NAVY DESTROYERS DON'T ROUTINELY CARRY ANTI-TERROR SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES

    and lastly

YOU CANNOT SIT AN AMERICAN DESTROYER OFF THE COAST OF A COUNTRY 24/7/365 WITHOUT THAT COUNTRY TAKING NOTICE AND ISSUE WITH SAID DEPLOYMENT.

Caps for ease of reading and, since I'm running off too little sleep and somewhat anti-social this morning, most people are generally seeming stupid, must be another one of those Idiot Days of the Internet.

Yes, they do, especially in this case.

Al Queda posted on a web page, that they intended to attack the british embassy in benghazi, and they did, the british pulled out. Al Queda posted on the same web page that they were going to attack the Red Cross, and they did, the Red Cross pulled out. They even posted on the very same web page that they were going to attack the American embassy, and they did.

60 Minutes: Al-Qaeda Announced Benghazi as Target on Website

CBS: Andy Wood: "We had one option: Leave Benghazi or you will be killed." Green Beret Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Andy Wood, was one of the top American security officials in Libya. Based in Tripoli, he met with Amb. Stevens every day. The last time he went to Benghazi was in June, just three months before the attack. While he was there, al Qaeda tried to assassinate the British ambassador. Wood says, to him, it came as no surprise because al Qaeda -- using a familiar tactic -- had stated their intent in an online posting, saying they would attack the Red Cross, the British and then the Americans in Benghazi.

Islamic militancy in the Libyan Civil War

Many Islamists played major roles in the Libyan civil war that led to the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. Militants like Abdul Hakeem Belhaj, who fought alongside Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan,[15] other former members of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group or other radical movements, as well as jihadists who had fought in Iraq and Afghanistan were essential in the effort to overthrow Gadhafi.[16] In March 2011, rebel leaders spoke of their need for anti-aircraft missiles in the ongoing war.[17] That spring, weapons began being shipped to rebels through Qatar with American approval.[18] In July 2011, it was reported that anti-aircraft missiles were being raided from bunkers of the Gaddafi regime by Libyan rebels.[19] By September 2011, Western counterterrorism officials had become increasingly concerned with the role Islamic radicals were playing in the revolt in Libya, and worried the weapons acquired by them during the war would be used in future terrorist attacks.[15]
American presence in Libya and Benghazi

Within months of the start of the Libyan revolution in February 2011, the CIA began building a meaningful but covert presence in Benghazi.[20] During the war, elite counter-terrorist operators from America's Delta Force were deployed to Libya as analysts, instructing the rebels on specifics about weapons and tactics.[21]:16 Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was named the first liaison with the Libyan opposition in March 2011.[22] After the end of the war, both the CIA and the US State department were tasked with continuing to identify and collect arms that had flooded the country during the war, particularly shoulder-fired missiles taken from the former arsenal of the fallen regime of Gaddafi,[23][24] as well as securing Libyan chemical weapon stockpiles, and helping to train Libya's new intelligence service.[20] According to some of his colleagues, Ambassador Stevens was in Libya to purchase stinger missiles from Al-Qaeda groups that had been provided by the State Department during the civil war.[25] It has since been speculated[according to whom?] that arms shipped through Turkey to Syrian rebels fighting the regime of Bashar Al-Assad[26] were related to the American presence in Libya.[21]:56[27][28][29]

Further, eastern Libya and Benghazi were key intelligence-gathering hubs for intelligence operatives. Before the attack, the CIA was monitoring Ansar al-Sharia and suspected members of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, as well as attempting to define the leadership and loyalty of the various militias present and their interaction with the Salafi elements of Libyan society.[20] By the time of the attack, dozens of CIA operatives were on the ground in Benghazi.[28] In addition, it has been reported that in the summer of 2012, American Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) missions had begun to target Libyan militias linked to the Al-Qaeda network of Yasin al-Suri.[21]:58 By the time of the attack, a composite US Special Operations team with two JSOC members was already in Libya working on their mission profile independently of the CIA and State department operations.[21]:58[30]

    Instability in Benghazi

In the months leading up to the attack, instability and violence in Libya in general and toward American assets more specifically was significant. In the aftermath of the 2012 Benghazi attack, investigators identified more than a dozen violent events in Benghazi during the previous six months. On October 2, 2012, three weeks after the attacks, Darrell Issa (R-CA, chairman of the Committee) and Jason Chaffetz (R-UT, chairman of the subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense, and Foreign Operations) sent a letter to Secretary of State Clinton which listed a number of these events—including car jackings, kidnappings, assassination attempts, and gun battles. The letter stated, "Put together, these events indicated a clear pattern of security threats that could only be reasonably interpreted to justify increased security for U.S. personnel and facilities in Benghazi."[31] According to Jack Murphy and Brandon Webb in "Benghazi: The Definitive Report," the Regional Security Office in Tripoli "compiled a list of 234 security incidents in Libya between June 2011 and July 2012, 50 of which took place in Benghazi."[21]:30

In April 2012, two former security guards for the consulate threw a homemade "fish bomb" IED over the consulate fence; the incident did not cause any casualties.[32] Just 4 days later, a similar bomb was thrown at a four vehicle convoy carrying the United Nations Special Envoy to Libya, exploding just 12 feet from the UN envoy’s vehicle without injuring anyone.[33]
In May 2012 an Al-Qaida affiliate calling itself the Imprisoned Omar Abdul Rahman Brigades claimed responsibility for an attack on the International Red Cross (ICRC) office in Benghazi. On August 6 the ICRC suspended operations in Benghazi. The head of the ICRC's delegation in Libya said the aid group was "appalled" by the attack and "extremely concerned" about escalating violence in Libya.[34]
The Imprisoned Omar Abdul Rahman Brigades released a video of what it said was its detonation of an explosive device outside the gates of the U.S. consulate on June 5, which caused no casualties but damaged the consulate's perimeter wall,[35][36] described by one individual as "big enough for forty men to go through."[31] The Brigades claimed that the attack was in response to the killing of Abu Yahya al Libi, a Libyan al-Qaeda leader who had just died in an American drone attack, and was also timed to coincide with the imminent arrival of a U.S. diplomat.[37][38] There were no injuries, but the group left behind leaflets promising more attacks against the U.S.[39]
British ambassador to Libya Dominic Asquith survived an assassination attempt in Benghazi on June 10. Two British protection officers were injured in the attack when their convoy was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade 300 yards from their consulate office.[40] The British Foreign Office withdrew all consular staff from Benghazi in late June.[41][42][43]
On June 18, 2012, the Tunisian consulate in Benghazi was stormed by individuals affiliated with Ansar Al-Sharia Libya, allegedly because of "attacks by Tunisian artists against Islam."[21]:31
On the day of the attack:
Al Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri declared that al Libi's death still needed to be avenged.[44]
In Egypt, 2000 Salafist activists protested against the film Innocence of Muslims at 5pm EET (11am EDT) at the US embassy in Cairo.[45]
President Obama was attending a 9/11 ceremony in the morning, and in the afternoon he visited with wounded veterans at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for two-and-a-half hours about the time the Benghazi attack began.[46]
Two consulate security guards spotted a man in a Libyan police uniform taking pictures of the consulate with his cell phone from a nearby building that was under construction. The security guards briefly detained the man before releasing him. He drove away in a police car and a complaint was made to the Libyan police station. Sean Smith noticed this surveillance, posting on the internet "assuming we don't die tonight. We saw one of our 'police' that guard the compound taking pictures."[21]:34

After the attack, CNN reported that a Benghazi security official and a battalion commander had met with U.S. diplomats three days before the attack and had warned the Americans about deteriorating security in the area. The official told CNN that the diplomats had been advised, "The situation is frightening, it scares us."[47]

On September 14, CNN correspondent Arwa Damon found Ambassador Stevens' diary at the unsecured site of the attack. In it, Stevens expressed his concern about the growing al-Qaeda presence in the area and his worry about being on an al-Qaeda hit list. The U.S. State Department later accused CNN of violating privacy and breaking its promise to Stevens' family that it would not report on the diary.[48]

After a meeting to discuss the deteriorating security situation at the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, embassy officials in Tripoli drafted a cable on August 16 outlining the circumstances and specifying that security needs would be made known in a subsequent message. This cable, excerpts from which have been reported by Fox News, still remains classified. But after reading it, Army General Carter Ham, then the head of the U.S. Africa Command and thus the senior U.S. military official in the region, phoned Stevens and asked if the compound needed a special security team from the U.S. military. Stevens told Ham it did not, according to two government officials interviewed by McClatchy News Service. Weeks later, Stevens traveled to Germany for an already scheduled meeting with Ham at AFRICOM headquarters. During that meeting, Ham again offered additional military assets, and Stevens again said no, the two officials said.[49]

Do you have any idea how many times the United States is threatened probably on a daily basis? If we pulled out of every place where we were threatened, every enemy of the United States would just have to threaten us to get us out of the way. But then again, you Conservatives who take any opportunity to bash the president would have criticized him for that. Don't even freaking TRY to claim you wouldn't have done EXACTLY THAT!

Every single one of the people in Benghazi knew they were in an unstable location. Obama tried to get more funding for security, but the REPUBLICAN-controlled Congress said NO. So don't blame Obama for your own party's ineptitude.

Proof of what? How would people with no knowledge or experience even know what that looks like? So called conservatives should be embarrassed by what they've posted here.....but they don't even know enough to realize that. It must be very frustrating for them to be nearly smart enough to almost realize how ignorant they are.

State Department Had No $$$ for Benghazi Security, Did Have $16 Mil for Kindles and $4.5 for Art

According to Hillary Clinton’s long-delayed Benghazigate testimony, the State Department just did not have enough money to provide security for a mission in one of the most dangerous places in the world.

It did however have 16 million dollars to spend on 2,500 kindle book readers at the drastically inflated price of $6,600 per device.

How much security could that 16 million buy?

It had $79,000 to spend on Obama’s books and $20,000 on a portrait of Obama. The US Embassy had $150,000 to spend on a book about the ambassador’s residence. The US Embassy in Austria had $150,000+ for a Chevy Volt and its charging station.

And here is what else Hillary’s State Department did have money for…

7.9 billion dollars for Obama’s Global Health Initiative.

1 billion for global climate change.

2.2 billion to strengthen democratic institutions in Pakistan.

    And of course… Mosque renovations.

In 2011 the State Department provided funds to restore the 15th century Gobarau Minaret in Katsina State in Nigeria’s predominantly Muslim north, an area which has become a virtual killing field for Christians at the hands of Muslim militants, led by the al-Qaeda-linked terror group Boko Haram.

And $4.5 million for Art in Embassies

The New York Times reported in 2009 that Art in Embassies spends about $4.5 million a year for permanent art acquisitions; chief curator Virginia Shore said at the time that artists and dealers support the program via favorable pricing; for the embassy in Beijing, an outlay of $800,000 yielded works with an appraised value of $30 million.

How much Benghazi security would 800,000 dollars have bought? If Hillary Clinton had stopped buying paintings, maybe four Americans would still be alive today.

The State Department also has a Chief Diversity Officer, whose job it is to warn that “holding the fort” is a racist phrase.

As far as security goes, 200 million dollars were wasted on Iraqi police training that never went anywhere.

And nothing says State Department waste, like waste management.

The U.S. Department of State and partners from the LAUNCH: Beyond Waste Forum announce a challenge to identify ten game-changing innovations with the potential to transform current waste management systems and practices. LAUNCH: Beyond Waste seeks transformational solutions to the problem of waste through disruptive innovation, behavioral change, systems design, as well as improved policy and stewardship.

The challenge, which will be open from April 1 to May 15, 2012, asks creative minds to formulate innovative ideas for minimizing waste or transforming it into new products.

Nope, no waste to see here.

The State Department just had no money in its 50 billion dollar budget to pay for Benghazi security. None at all.

    - - - Updated - - -

so, again, you got nothing but bs and rhetoric....

    Thanks for nothing....

Yeah, and next you're going to tell us that no Republican administered State Department ever spent money like that. You're full of crap.

Now explain where all the money went during the Bush years when there several more attacks on our diplomatic missions that killed several more Americans?

Honestly, all the attention on Benghazi is way overblown. I bet the families of the 241 Beirut victims would love the attention these four are getting. Libya in September 2011 was still unstable as hell. Every single one of those that died knew that. The mission that was attacked wasn't even an embassy, it was at best a consulate. Consulates aren't given as much protection as embassies just because there are more of them.

There was nothing short of having a counter-terror team on the site of the embassy prior to the attack that would have prevented the deaths. You people need to learn the term "acceptable loss". We're not invincible. There are Americans in hostile countries every day, our military cannot effectively protect every single American.

Just like the Captain in Cool Hand Luke: some places you just can't reach, so you end up seeing things like what happened in Benghazi. I don't like it any more than you, but at least I'm realistic enough to realize that "hey, it could have been worse."

Face it, you don't know the first thing about what you are speaking and are just whining because your masters in the Conservative media demand it of you.

you're projecting your own situation, you've got no evidence any crime was committed by the president

but, the gop, scandal manufacturing cartel sure is in high production mode, too bad it's all malarkey
