I saw this today, and it just blew me away. And I am sure almost anybody here who has been in uniform (regardless of your branch of service) can identify with. It is by an Artist named Danny Quirk and he named it "(De)Facing PTSD". This is an example of putting into an image something that most of us can never put into words. And please, no degrading comments from the peanut gallery.
My sister is an artist, she paints background sets for theater and occasionally movie productions...the medium for this particular painting is watercolor. meaning the paints are made of pigments suspended in a water-soluble vehicle. This sort of photo realism in watercolors is difficult to do...I've seen photo realism done in acrylics, but working with watercolors to attain this level of realism shows the artist's true talent.

As John Mayo says, from Facebook. I belong to several military groups, and this painting has been flying through all of them the last day or so.
The more I look at that painting, the more I appreciate it. The digital pattern on the camouflage transition from light to shadow...this guy is a technical painter, but the theme itself is powerful enough to carry it, even it were done more abstractly. Watercolors can often project an almost dream like quality to a theme, but his is much more sharp and defined. Kudos...thanks for sharing the image.

That's a very nice painting. I like how his name is "Ayudar" or to help in Spanish. The Mask doesn't include eyes, which means that even if he is wearing a mask, all you have to do is look inside him and see the pain.
