Mod Edit ~ Potentially inflammatory title edited Three Georgia militiamen were arrested by the FBI when they attempted to buy terrorist weapons. They planned to use the explosives to target infrastructure and federal offices. Like most right-wingers, these sick individuals are firm believers that the Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment to protect citizens’ right to insurrection. Cory Williamson, 28, Brian Cannon, 36, and Terry Peace, 45 proved their military cunning (or lack of) by using the Internet to chat about their plans to buy pipe bombs and thermite grenades. Obviously, these typical right wing geniuses haven’t been paying attention to the news reports regarding NSA domestic electronic spying. These militia fools made it easy for the FBI to discover their conspiracy, and were easily taken into custody. As we’ve seen in the past on these message boards, it will be tragically comical to see the many conservatives and neoconservatives defend the constitutional rights of these three “brave men”, to attempt to take their country back from the “tyrant” currently in the White House. http://www.inquisitr.com/1144025/fb...ng-to-buy-pipe-bombs-to-take-down-power-grid/
I have to stand up for the South- these kinds of dangerous loons are in many more places than the South.
Could you point where on this message board people have supported terrorism? As for me, I'm glad that this terrorist plot was broken up. But the typical non muslim terrorism in the US is by the left. So let's not forget who are the more numerous wacko-birds.
I'm actually rather thankful these terrorists were captured and are now in custody. Least of the many reasons, is that governmental workers and even our miserable politicians are human beings and American Citizens. They have a right to non-bodily harm, as does any other person as long as no one harms another. But from a political standpoint, it would have been suicide and counterproductive to the nation had their attack succeeded. If one complains about the government growing out of control, then imagine what would take place after an attack? Even Hitler was lucky enough to escape the death penalty. That won't happen again(if ever) and the world's militaries are vastly superior to the mid-19th century. Domestic violence can no longer be an effective political tool. That's both a good thing, and yet I will admit that it's a tragedy that a man can rule with a pen, and swords can no longer touch him. But that's our political reality, and if one wants to change things one must channel our inner political energy towards a peaceful and yet stout resolution for reform.
Proof please. I highly doubt that Timothy McVeigh, for example, is a lefty. The number of right-wing extremist groups in the USA has exploded since Obama took office. Arms sales have too.
Apparently, the only thing that saves us from those fanatic nuts is their stupidity! In times like this, I thank God for the American educational system which doesn't seem to teach much, but CERTAINLY NOT to THINK independently!
How really? Guess what, Right Wing extremists, and "White supremacists" have been almost EXCLUSIVELY the homegrown terrorists groups in the US, planning, and sometime succeeding (as in the Oklahoma bombing) terrorist attacks. If you have RELIABLE DATA that contradicts my statement. . .please provide it!
I'm not concerned about "extremist" groups. I'm concerned about terrorist groups. Have the number of right wing terrorist groups exploded? That would be the issue. As for lefty terrorism, I realize no proof would be acceptable for you, but here are a few: 2012: OWS Bridge Bombers 2011: Occupy protester arrested on bomb threat charges 2010: Discovery Channel Gunman 2010: IRS attack by anti-Bush communist supporter 2010: School Board Shooter 2008 Anarchist Foiled RNC Molotov Cocktail Bombing
You like to pick and choose? Well. . .look at this then: and: http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/publications/terror-from-the-right And:
When I read posts by people that want to end any surveillance of American citizens And then I read the Turner diaries I began to fear for my country If you read the Turner diaries you'll understand what these people are about It is very unfortunate that many conservatives are being manipulated by the extreme right wing Remember Timothy McVeigh distributed the Turner diaries wherever he went Everyone should read the the last half of the Book To understand what these people Want to accomplish and how far They would like to go
Don't forget the Chicago pipe bombers in response to the NATO meeting. http://www.thehindu.com/news/intern...ttack-ahead-of-nato-summit/article3439212.ece
Innocent until proven guilty. The feds have a lousy track record on these things. Anyone remember the Hutaree trial?
I took your links seriously, which perhaps was my mistake. To track down that 56% figure, I went first to your "freakoutnation" link. I should have known with a name like that it wasn't exactly a bastion of academic scholarship. It referenced a Salon article, which I assumed might be a more legitimate source. However Salon got it's number from Think Progress. Just as an aside on Think Progress; every time I've dealt with someone using that site as a reference, either the information was fraudulent, deceptive, or just not there. So I should have stopped there, but then I thought to myself, "No, Sadanie would never accept an answer of me dissing TP." I realize it's a font of inaccurate talking points for the left, and therefore considered holy. So I pushed on. Think Progress had a nice little graph and sourced their percentage to a DHS report from 2009. I remember the release of that report since it created quite a furor at the time of it's release. The report was later withdrawn, but I figured hey, it still might have some metrics. But no. It didn't have number. So I guess Think Progress made it up (shocker!) and then everyone else copied it from them. I have no doubt you were sincere in thinking that was correct, but just a hint for the future, if your sources lead back to Think Progress, I will know it's probably crap.
