Gun control laws generally do not keep guns out of the wrong hands.

Center mass helps to prevent stray rounds from hitting someone else.

I do not think I could kill someone for a TV, money, or other trivial things. Someone try to snatch my little 5 yr old baby girl humanity switch off, Captain Cave man on, I would attack like a wild animal. I would likely still be beating making chimpanzee like sounds when the cops showed up. Everyone has a breaking point mine is my family. If they try to hurt them nothing else matters IMO. People do not steal little kids to take them to the movies or other benign reasons. They deserve worse than they will get no matter what that is.

I know that was not possible in the situation you describe. That gets my blood boiling just thinking about it. I am proud she is safe.

Or a pump shotgun. The ka-shuck of the chambering of a round might be enough to scare them off.

If not you will have a heck of a mess to clean up.

We're not Canada, we're not going to endorse draconian gun laws. If we emulate any European country, we'd emulate the Swiss. Train our citizens to actually properly wield a gun. Bam, shooting deaths reduced overnight.

Gun owners are more likely to shoot you for going on their property. Hmm, what great insight. Tell me more. Like about how vehicle owners are more likely to drive vehicles. And then make some equally ignorant and baseless statement about vehicle owners, like that they all enjoy drinking and driving.

No self defense professional, law enforcement or military person would EVER recommend shooting to wound. It's a much smaller target, and even if you wound, it's much less likely to stop an actual threat. Also, good luck in court when you tell them you didn't fear for your life, so you just attempted to wound them.

Untrue, and a simpleton answer. I am a gun owner for one reason, which does not involve property.

I obviously do not own her.

This is an absolutely idiotic statement that is not based upon logic or statistics.

Considering the incredibly large number of STAB WOUNDS AND INJURIES AND DEATHS resulting from people using a KITCHEN STEAK KNIFE to stab another Human Being does this fact mean we should BAN STEAK KNIVES??? LOL!!!!

I have been unfortunate enough to have to KILL MEN when I was working doing JOBS in the field.

I never wanted to kill anyone and I still never again want to kill anyone....but when someone is trying to kill you a person does what is necessary.

Now....if I am home and some crazy person or criminal comes at me or members of my family with a knife and that person is IN MY HOME ILLEGALLY....I will point at center mass and pull the trigger.

What you don't seem to understand is that a person who attempts to kill you even if it is with a knife and you have a handgun and could have shot them in the leg there is a possibility you could miss and that crazy could reach his intended target...as well...he could go into the Psyche Ward for a few years or 10 months....be certified SANE...and you put a bullet in his LEG instead of his chest and the FIRST THING HE DOES WHEN HE GET'S OUT IS GOES BACK TO YOUR HOME BUT THIS TIME PLANS THINGS BETTER!!!

Someone is in your home and is threatening to harm you or your family with any weapon.....and you have a gun....YOU SHOOT THEM DEAD!!!!!!

oh quit. You measure everyone against yourself with a short stick. I have found that most anti-gunners lack familiarity because they have been programmed by the fear inducers. We get that you live in a closet with fear as your guide, but the rest of us don't.
Typical Lib mantra, straight out the Progressive Handbook. Spread fear, lie, and rely heavily on the "what if" game as if it were reality.
I would agree with you. You should never live next door to a gun or move to a town where the Progressive Libs control everything and you never have to make a choice based on your own thinking.
    Check list:
Everything is laid out nicely for you.
Donate your entire check for the Cause or Party line mantra
    Bars on the windows
    Interior bars on the doors
Hole in the floor for hiding
    No knives
No toxins in your house whatsoever
    No swimming pools
    No stairs
    No cars
Bicycles are to be licensed and insure
Bicycle rides are to carry the maximum insurance
Attend all public rah rah sessions and public executions for anyone violating these "laws"
    Kneel before your rulers
Be prepared for random searches for any of the aforementioned violations

That is a crude and absurd accusation, Cdnpoli.
To over-generalize like that is both inappropriate and vaguely ignorant.

Can you detail for us your experience with gun owners (verses your life experience with non-gun owners)?
How many gun owners do you know personally?
If you even know any gun owners, have you had long and detailed conversations with them regarding their feelings about shooting intruders?

Me personally, I own guns for self-protection.
To shoot another person is the very last thing I would ever want to do.
But I do value my life, and I wish to protect my loved ones.

If a burglar were to break into my house, I would use my weapon to convince the burglar to simply leave, and then I would call the police.
If the intruder were to advance toward me in a menacing fashion (as many meth-heads are known to do), I would fire a warning shot at the intruder's feet.
If that failed to stop him, I would, sadly, shoot the intruder in the knee-cap.

    This would serve more than one purpose;
    a. It would cause such excruciating pain for the intruder that (even if they were all amped-up on meth), they would lay down and wait for the police.
    b. It would not cost them their life.
    and
    c. It would hobble them for life, and slow down their future burglary activities. Perhaps it would convince them to change their life, and go back to school. Become a doctor or a teacher.

    It's a win-win for everybody.

The things I find absolutely ridiculous is how actual LAWS have been instituted that makes it a CRIME for a KID to ride his BIKE in some states if he or she is not wearing a HELMET!!!

    A FREAKIN' HELMET....just to ride a bike!!!

In Massachusetts my state a QUESTION was placed upon the ballot that asked the votes to vote yes or no for anyone driving a car to have to wear a SAFETY BELT.

Now it is not a question of whether or not wearing a safety belt saves lives....it is a question of whether or not the STATE COULD PASS A LAW FORCING ADULTS TO HAVE TO WEAR A SAFETY BELT as if a person who is not a baby or child is not capable of deciding on their own if they wish to protect their life or not!!!!

The question WAS VOTED DOWN!!! OVERWHELMINGLY.....as a high percentage of voters voted NO! A LAW should not be created forcing ADULTS TO WEAR A SAFETY BELT. Children and Baby's already were by law required to wear a safety belt and baby's had to be placed in a special Car Seat that connected to a sealt belt system facing backwards in the rear seat and that was overwhelmingly agreed upon by Mass. Voters as A GOOD LAW.....

.............But voters said NO to forcing Adults to wear a seat belt.

Problem is that the INSURANCE COMPANIES pay out 100's of Million's of Dollars to keep Politician's in their back pockets and after the defeat of that Question the Mass.Legislature went behind the peoples backs and created that law ANYWAYS!!!

    Dirt Bags!!!

there are many countries that disprove that...not having any controls prevents nothing...

If you had no restrictions on who could drive a car or an airplane what do imagine would happen to the death toll from accidents?..do the restrictions prevent many unqualified people from driving or piloting, absolutely...do they prevent all incompetent or disqualified from doing so, no...but they definitly have an effect...

.background checks do work, mental health restrictions work, proper storage requirements work, and there are more restrictions and requirements when all are combined have a significant effect....do they stop qualified owners from accessing guns?, No....do they always prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands? No...but they do prevent many guns from getting into the wrong hands and they do reduce gunshot deaths...

There's a thread on the forum thats been active for months titled "what type of gun do you keep beside your bed"...it just doesn't say "what if", "fear" and "paranoia" it positively screams it....I keep nothing beside my bed, I haven't owned a gun in 25 years because I don't live in a "what if" world like gun owners, I don't live in "fear" unlike gun owners...I feel perfectly safe and fear free without a gun...

What about the people he stabbed? what about the 12 people he put in the hospital by using his car?
I have used my firearm to defend before, but the perp lived. But it wasn't due to my not trying. His very words in court were "I didn't think he'd shoot."
So, it is the criminals that rely upon fear and terror to commit crimes. Ask the survivors if they were in fear of their lives

    Well....you know how it goes.

People who don't have a gun and have never had a reason to have ever had to use a gun....REALLY WISH THEY HAD A GUN...loaded and by the side of their bed....WHEN THEY NEED ONE!!!

the day I go to the store and I get into an auto accident I'll wish I hadn't gone after the fact...but I don't fear driving to the store, and I don't fear living without a gun...

Of all my friends and enormous family I only know two that own guns, a bro-in-law keeps them locked in a heavy steel storage cabinet bolted to the floor in a locked room and the other my brother hasn't had any ammo for his in decades...

If you are in my home in the middle of the night and the dogs have not already eaten you I will not think twice about shooting you, I do not know why you are there and will not take chances with the safety of my family. If you are caught in one of my barns I might take you under gunpoint and call the sheriffs office but once again, do not comply and you would be shot. I have no desire to shoot anyone, already been down that road in the Army, but the laws says I have the right to protect myself, family and property and that is as it should be.

A complete lie. Most gun owners will NOT shoot you for merely trespassing. They will much more likely tell you to leave or call the police.

Now there's evasion, I definitively demonstrate its gun owners who live in a permanent what if/fear world, not the non gun owners and you quickly drop the accusation....tell us fearful non gun owners what do you keep beside your bed, shotgun? Glock?...I'm so terrified I have a glass of water and a table lamp for protection....

I'm like that old woman :roflol:
unfortunately, your fears warms us. WE like it when you fear us, don't you get that? Makes you more respectful in public.

I don't care one wit about your fears. I don't care about your safety. I don't care about your projections. But your name calling and demeaning attitude reflects badly on you.
You have yet to supply anything but conjecture about this
