Then why are you demanding Obama do something if you want the people to decide ? The three state solution is the better way forward.

Other than carpet bombing, nothing. Obama has lost the war that Bush won.

British Colonialism and Repression in Iraq

Britain set up a colonial regime in Iraq after a long military campaign during World War I. In response to Iraqi resistance, including a country-wide uprising in 1920, British forces battled for over a decade to pacify the country, using airplanes, armored cars, firebombs and mustard gas.

Air attacks were used to shock and awe, to teach obedience and to force the collection of taxes. Winston Churchill, as responsible cabinet minister in the early years, saw Iraq as an experiment in high-technology colonial control. Though officials in London sometimes had qualms about the violence, colonial administrators on the ground like Gertrude Bell expressed enthusiasm for the power of the imperial military enterprise.

The Brits took Baghdad in 2 weeks .. and then the wheels came off.

YOU should go fight in Iraq.

Bush didn't "win" a thing.. Iraq was crippled by decades of war and sanctions... and they still drove us nuts for a decade. We also spent a trillion dollars and had 40,000 American soldiers killed or maimed.

I honestly do not know what can be done at this point. And just two days ago, Obama said the world is better place because of him, so this must be true.

Right wingers don't acknowledge the insurgencies, innocent casualties, or mismanaged war during the Bush years. It's bad for their psyche.

I was ok with removing Saddam but we overstayed. I too thought we could make the Middle East embrace western democracy, but Islam and cultural ties are too innate. Let them figure it out on their own.

I've seen reports of up to 600 Americans in country in danger of being captured by hostile forces.
My suggestion is get these people out first, then go golfing and let them kill each other. Or we could get our people out and turn the entire area to glass like we should have done so many years ago.

If the middle easterns are ok with killing themselves why should I step up to stop them?
I would denote they are not my fellow man nor yours. If this type of turmoil had been happening and continuing in the US my fellow men would have taken steps or arms to stop it.
These people are unwilling to fight for themselves and or willing to allow this crap to continually happen.
You can call me an idiot if with no compassion if you like, what does that make them?

    ah, back peddling,
we're calling you out for saying the US military should have "turned the place into glass" resulting in millions of deaths.
    AND YOU KNOW IT.
    you should just apologize.

And exactly how does our allowing terrorists to take over Iraq equate to the Middle East getting their s**t together?

At least O isn't getting us into other nation's war. Other's actually in that region may feel they have a fight and might want to do something about what is going on. In the meantime, there is a civilian invasion going on at our Southern border. Be nice to be working on that.

What a great place to put our returning military, on the border actually defending the country from a foreign invasion.

oh please - attacks against the West have been planned IN THE WEST. It really won't make us any more/less safer if AQ had their own nation.
But here's the truth - AQ will never have their own nation. Already the Kurds have taken back town near their border and the Iraqi military have won back a couple of cities. Iraq will faction into three states as it should. Your strawmen arguments are old hat.

damn right - we're wasting resources, time, and money in foreign nations.

I know! It's so counter intuitive! So, does TC favor military intervention? I wonder what O himself would want to do, polls be damned. I have to think our current non-intervention is poll driven as, big government types typically love getting us into other people's wars, especially if there's nothing in it for the USA.
