If you are infected you have a very high probability of mortality. Don't think for a moment that just because you live in an advanced society that it will save you. It spreads very quickly and not every hospital has sufficient containment facilities. Most have, at the most, a couple of isolation wards.

Actually the main reason is probably that Obama did not create the Ebola outbreak and so he figures there's no real political risk in combating it; whereas as I understand it his foreign policy of indiscriminately arming the Syrian rebel groups with state of the art U.S. made weapons and weapons systems DID directly lead to ISIL being able to take huge segments of Iraq. Were Obama a GOP president responsible for that happening due to his own cluelessness as a foreign policy wonk, the Mainstream Media would even now be roasting his carcass over a low flame just to hear that steady sizzle of slowly dripping political juices hit the coals beneath him.

 

In the la-la-land of Obama supporters . . . there are no problems if only one refuses to see any of them.

So as long as the number is below 34K per year you're ok with Ebola. About 400 criminals are killed by cops each year so let's hope for that number and I agree that the liberal horde is more likely to be killed by a cop than a conservative is.

The idea that Ebola was no threat at all and now that the threat is so grave that we have to send thousands of our troops into the hot zone came from 0bama. The Blaze may have picked up on the contradiction but Barry is the one making the liberals that claim that there is no danger wet their pants and they run in circles trying the reconcile what Barry is doing and why.

I can't think of any virus worse than Ebola and it eats Americans just as often as Po 3rd world people. I was hoping to travel abroad (North Africa and Israel are the only sure destinations) in a couple of months or early next year. Even with the best health care I am more worried about lead poisoning than Ebola because I am going as a guest preacher....maybe maybe not! In addition to fearing Ebola I have another horrible, awful phobia. That is called 'stage fright'.

Lastly, speaking of Obama, he lies more than any president in recent history! He is deceptive and leans so far left his name should be Karl Obama Marx(ist). I will be SO happy to see him go.

Well that example was as petty and politically motivated as your post though there was some validity regarding irrational hysteria and misinformation. That's not quite the same as chastising people just for being concerned as you suggested.

In general if we're just talking about the usual politico kooks bouncing off each other, it's less of a concern. The situation needs a rational and considered approach, which it largely seems to have received but it certainly doesn't need to be used as another weapon in US partisan politics.

The tea party is about as far right wing/ conservative and recognized groups. Am I rude to remember what we were discussing here?
Yesterday on NPR, I heard that the purpose of our 3,000 troops being sent to fight Ebola was to build hospitals and medical facilities, so the available medical staff has something to work with, and some chance of surviving the effort.
Why do I have to remind people here that this is one of the PRIMARY purposes of our military?
When that giant hurricane hit the Philippines, it was our Navy that arrived first, and did the most to provide succor to the victims.
When I was in the Navy, we were the first Americans (military) to visit Madagascar in over 20 years. One of our most important functions was to build hundreds of dwellings for the locals.
We can't save the world, but dammit, we can make an effort.

 

Yep, making the effort is a good thing.

 

It's perfect testimony to how totally WRONG we have steered the world, that any mention of our military involvement is expected to be about how we're decimating someone, somewhere. If it isn't us decimating them, it's about how our moron leadership is sending our people in to be decimated.
This world will remain a very nasty place only for as long as we demand that it be so. How has the popular expectation among humanity come to be so horrible? Why?
