Democrats Pound Republicans Over Their Push to Privatize and Cut Social Security
    http://www.politicususa.com/2014/10...h-privatize-cut-social-security-medicare.html

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As has been said so many times before, Republicans have a plan to leave the elderly, those retired, the poor, minorities, those who are ill and others to fend for themselves with their plan to CUT Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc. for those Americans who most need it.

In their penchant to give further tax cuts to the wealthy in this country, Republicans clearly do not see it as an obstacle to sacrifice the little that the elderly in this country have, as well as others, in order to achieve success in that effort. That is why voting for those who pledge to Retain Social Security and Protect it is so vitally important during this midterm election. People who are currently on those programs have to put themselves in that place of Social Security becoming privatized, as Republicans want to do, and then the stock market collapsing and there goes all of their savings. What do they do then? We need look no farther than to 2008 when the market crashed under Bush and obliterated people's retirement accounts.

Mitch McConnell has already pledged to privatize Social Security so have many other Republicans. If you think he and his Republican cohorts care about your future, Americans, think again. They may say they have your back but be very careful about what they can also stick into it.

2% return on investment doesn't even keep up with inflation, Democrats are always at a disadvantage when some simple math or other thinking is needed to understand an issue.

Market goes up - Market goes down, I would prefer not to see people lose their retirement simply because some amateur investors panic. Leave SS as is, stop stealing money from it to pay for other pet projects.

How do you know what party I align with? Mind-reader?
I simply asked for direct quotes to prove your assertions.

Ah yes....it must be election time....time for the progressives to drag out their "book of lies' and start trying to scare the elderly and food stampers. You folks are SOOOO predicable.

I agree with the stop stealing from it to pay pet projects part, but social security is being lost due to inflation because of the stupid way it is invested. I would prefer that citizens be allowed the option to invest a portion of it and reap a higher return, since we are all forced to pay into it. those who wish to leave it alone and watch it wither away would still be able to do so.

Authoritarian state collectivists (leftists) trot out this fear mongering deceit every election cycle. They'll be doing the same thing when their parasitical, gimmee gimmee constituency gets good and addicted to their newest vote harvesting institution - Obamacare.

I would not be against allowing people from taking a portion of their own SS to invest, but I also want to retain the current option for those that know that the gains made today can be the loses the next day and do not want to risk their future on betting on the stock market, and that by the way is what it is.

True, they do, just like the Cons trot out the Myth that the Dems are gonna take your guns away or that they actually want to make all illegals legal. Both sides use fear tactics, both Lie, a lot.

Hmmm, this is not even being pushed by anyone that I know other than democrats. The last 'privatization' push was only 2% of SS and the dems about pooped their pants. What everyone in Congress knows, including all democrats, is that something will have to be done but it is much easier to push this fiasco down the road and vilify anyone that approaches it rationally. At some point in time, either the retirement age will have to go up like it has in the past with democrat support or payments will have to be cut. These facts are ignored by the partisans only interested in votes.

Why do you equate "private" with the stock market?

There are other ways to invest with guaranteed better rates that less than 2%

The government doesn't want to let it go because its a cash cow for them...................

Look up Galveston County in Texas..................they went off SS 30+ years ago........

Their average retiree gets double what SS pays.............

As are the Cons, problem, for you, is that some see that both sides are without clean hands and some, you, believe the other guys hands are dirty and your sides hands are clean as a whistle. Selective vision only makes a person look like either a Partisan Hack or someone that is too uninformed to even vote without having the Party designation behind the candidates name.

Please name these mythical "investments" you speak of.

In truth, there are no investments. There are simply folk being forced into a ponzi pyramid that never invests anything.

I'm paying for the retirees that are alive now, and my kids will be paying for me.........simple really. But NO INVESTING HAPPENS.

True but that is always the main investment form touted by the Cons that suggest this reform.

And that is a good thing, but it would not be the story for all Americans that tried it.

Well then we seem to agree. BTW, check this out:

    http://bonds.about.com/od/Issues-in-the-News/a/Bond-Market-Returns.htm

Given inflation, over time stocks have proven to be less risky than bonds or other so called "safe" investments.

If you simply maintain what you have in your account, or make a very slight percentage gain, your are moving backwards in purchasing power.

If you say so, so far there is no actual evidence of such other than the opinion of someone that has their own agenda. By the way the first Amnesty and tighter gun controls were passed by the Demi-God of the right, Ronald Raygun.

Yes, I do when it applies, thanks. What you missed, Cons often miss many things, is that I did not call anyone anything I was speaking of those with selective outrage, you know, like YOU.

He's talking about an initiative NINE YEARS AGO, floated by "W" Bush, to invest SS money into stocks for those who WANTED to. The idea floated like the proverbial lead balloon... so be it.

This thread was created by "Chairman", who I have discovered likes to make unfounded statements and harsh criticisms, and then vanishes! His big "source" for this story was "PoliticusUSA", which prides itself right up-front as being, "REAL LIBERAL POLITICS". You might think of it as the "Breitbart" of the hyperliberal Left....

I asked "Chairman" in a different post exactly which Republican spokesman is calling for cuts in Social Security today, or for which Republican Party platform Social Security cuts are even mentioned -- and got NO reply. He's symptomatic of this bunch of hyperlib Socialist Democrats who're running scared now, one week before an election which could very well result in their "Messiah" being put on a short leash for the remainder of his time in office. They'll say anything, make anything up, and do anything to try to smear Republicans with **** that Democrats made up themselves....

The "war on women" lie is failing as women are falling out of favor with the left...
The "racism" lie is failing as the black community is feeling quite let down this past 6 years...
Time to bring the old people into the liberal mess.... maybe you can get their vote!
Soon all you'll have left are the illegals.... but unfortunately.... they can't vote :(

    yet...
