    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has resigned, a U.S. defense official said on Monday, adding that President Barack Obama had accepted his resignation.

    Hagel will remain in the Pentagon's top post until a successor is named, the official said.

    This is the third Secretary of Defense that Obama has appointed. Logic say's it's not the choices but the chooser that is at fault. More to come at 11:00 AM.

    Just in, Hagel did not resign, he was flat out fired.... Tremendous discontent coming from the Pentagon.

    Must have something to do with the way Obama pulled another
    Friday night.A Late Friday secret EO for expanding troop presence
    in Afghanistan. I bet Hagel wasn't even briefed.
    Maybe now Hagel could start spilling some beans.

    He was either briefed on what Obama decided to do { secret Friday
    Executive order } for more troops added and said No way.
    But Obama went ahead w/o Hagel's advice or Obama just acted
    entirely on his own w/o any consultation.

    Well it looks like Hagel was forced out.Fired.
    Obama again demonstrating he will not or ever
    tolerate any critics within his purview.
    Obama has done this repeatedly now.Especially in the
    Military. Having top brass and generals/admirals forced into early retirement of relieved of duty.
    Hagel is On Record stating he expected to serve the full 4
    years as Defense Secretary.
    There ya have it Folks.Another Obama cabinet casualty
    { thrown under the proverbial Obama bus }.
    Man,that bus has gotta be tired by now.
    Maybe it'll get a nice Christmas bonus.Bigger rims & tires.
    yeah ... that's the ticket.

    Obama's ISIS war strategy is failing. Maybe Hagel wanted to change it. Or maybe Obama didn't like the "crease in (Hagel's) pants." David Brooks.

    I just heard OWEblamer say in his Press Release about Hagel's resignation that he (OWEblamer) was once a "green behind the ears" junior Senator.... Dam if that isn't something the left would claim Sarah Palin would say. Idjut.

    That includes purging of the Pentagon's General Officer staff. I see Gen. Dempsey going in the same way soon. Obama reminds me of Hitler when it comes to the incompetent handling of the military amongst his other inept actions of state.

    From what I've read, Hagel wasn't happy with the White House, either.

    Obama has a phone and a pen. Having a defense secretary and pentagon wastes as much time as having congress. He is apparently micro-managing things anyway according to Hagel so why not cut out the middle men completely and save some money?
