Tragic. These students had their entire lives ahead of them and looked to have a promising future. This bigot needs to be thrown into prison and rot.

 

Would he still be a bigot if the victims were Christian instead?

 

So any time a white person attacks a non-white person, they suspect a hate crime?
Does it work like that in reverse?

Interesting. I don't think we'll be seeing much coverage on this story. Just doesn't quite fit the template.

 

Please tell me...why did this man kill these Muslims? And how's that not the definition of a hate crime again?

 

The guy was an avowed atheist. He hated ALL religions.

I noticed that you described this person as a "nutcase" and a "bigot". No mention of him being an atheist or a progressive. If this had been a conservative Christian committing these crimes, would you have left out those details, as well?

 

This one is too juicy to let go, like so many other 'close call' stories. They'll use it for all it's worth, even if they're only convincing like minded people.

 

You may find atheists to be far less likely to hate than religious people.

One thing that atheists certainly don't do is use religion to start wars, Jihads, crusades or persecutions.

 

Why does it even matter? It seems like there was a dispute over parking. People get killed all the time. There seems to be a killing in chicago every weekend, but yet we don't expect it to make national headline news. Black guy kills another black guy. No news. Black guy kills a white guy... No News... White guy defends himself by shooting a black guy - HEADLINE news. White guy kills muslims - HEADLINE news.. geeze.. this is so racist.

They are still investigating. Supposedly it was an argument between neighbors over parking. For the life of me, I can't see pulling a gun over a parking space. Not to mention also shooting and killing two young women to boot. Why couldn't they just get into a fistfight and roll around on the ground till exhausted. Or call the cops or the Property Manager of the Apt. complex? sheesh! It's senseless and tragic that three young lives are lost forever and the man will be imprisoned for the rest of his life. Odd though that an Athiest would do such a thing.

One conservative gets mocked on the Daily Show, and you took the opportunity to apply that to all conservatives, which completely contradicts your claim "I try not to make generalizations of an entire group based off the actions of one person."

Nope. It is considered just everyday violence. When those Muslims beheaded people here in the US it wasn't considered a hate crime.

 

Not really an odd thought that an atheist would do something like that. For him, there is no heavenly reward, but there is a parking space in the here and now. That's real, not some pie in the sky post death reward. He admirably lived by his beliefs.

 

I wouldn't imagine a non-atheist would join a group like "Atheists for Equality", so it's a pretty safe assumption, don't you think?

So the tens of millions that those atheists killed during the 20th century don't count?

 

I don't think "progressives" will incessantly bash secular humanists and atheists over this, either.
