At the very least, the people you see making videos of beheadings may be common foot soldiers bragging about their kills and flaming whomever or whatever. What they did is certainly barbarous. This is kind of similar to Guantanamo Bay, is it not? Only at Guantanamo, they obviously want the prisoners alive, so instead of killing them, they torture them. However, this is the only site to be caught doing this because the idiots took pictures of themselves when they weren't supposed to. There are other sites like Guantanamo around the world where they do not care whether the person lives or dies.

I suppose you can also take classic Vietnam for another example. The ability to selfie yourself was not around at the time, but they had a policy called "Ears for Beers" where soldiers would hold grim competitions in which they would go out and mutilate the ears (or other body parts) of their enemies in exchange for bears. Guess what they did to the women...whether little or old. Or the children- whether boy or girl. All this before we started dropping napalm and Agent Orange indiscriminately over the entire area...and Cambodia for good measure.

The same for WW2. The US and the Allied powers also commited a number of war crimes, but the US declared and it is a standing law to this day that it cannot be held accountable by international law. Thus...only the defeated where charged and convcited. That's pretty much how these things go... That Sniper guy whom they recently made a movie out of is another example. The real man was a monster with a gun...
