The Book of Jasher is criticized as a late forgery.. and its not accept in rabbinical Judaism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sefer_haYashar_(midrash) http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/22.htm excerpt: 41 And when Isaac was thirty-seven years old, Ishmael his brother was going about with him in the tent. 42 And Ishmael boasted of himself to Isaac, saying, I was thirteen years old when the Lord spoke to my father to circumcise us, and I did according to the word of the Lord which he spoke to my father, and I gave my soul unto the Lord, and I did not transgress his word which he commanded my father. 43 And Isaac answered Ishmael, saying, Why dost thou boast to me about this, about a little bit of thy flesh which thou didst take from thy body, concerning which the Lord commanded thee? Whoever wrote that book was definitely a brilliant writer. Much or even all of it could be the Book of Jasher that is referred to twice in the canonized Jewish Bible. Joshua 10:13 "And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. " 2Samuel 1:18 "(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.) "
... but Jasher was not canon, and may have been more of a local text like other writers do today. We read books which discuss a rapture or some such thing as a popular dialogue in this Age. Jasher might have been similar in that way.
Yes..... and for all I know there could actually be something to the idea of some sort of rapture also???! http://www.christianforums.com/t7647325/ Yom Kippur/The Rapture connection?! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is just a theory and I may be wrong but after being highly skeptical of the idea of a rapture for most of my life I am now open to the idea that the Rapture could fit in extremely well with the ultimate fulfillment of the Fast of Yom Kippur. I could not get my head around this idea until reading the NDE account of Dr. Richard Eby: http://www.near-death.com/experiences/articles015.html
Why the Rapture will occur on Yom Kippur in 2015. http://www.lasttrumpet.org/raptureinfo.htm LOLOLOL............. Do you have any idea how ridiculous this is?
Well..... for one thing RevAnarchist presented a pretty good case that 2017 is a Jubilee year..... not 2015?! http://www.politicalforum.com/religion-philosophy/381229-jesus-returns-2017-a.html
My old church the Worldwide Church of God used to teach something somewhat close to this idea.......... this is like nailing Messiah Yeshua - Jesus down to a set of do's and don't's that He has to follow......... anybody who writes something like this doesn't really believe that the Father..... has committed all judgment to the Son! John 5:22 "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: " That statement would not permit Messiah Yeshua - Jesus to rapture some homeless guy who had almost no chance of learning about the Jewish Sabbaths and Holy Days.... and was doing well to have anything to eat at all....... least of all eat kosher?! http://www.politicalforum.com/religion-philosophy/365987-story-homeless-man-angelo-rick-joyner.html The Story of Homeless Man Angelo by Rick Joyner.
Worldwide Church of God???????? Rev A is not a scholar... I especially like the part in the first chapter of the Book of Jasher where Abel is slain with an iron plow.
http://www.ccel.org/a/anonymous/jasher/1.htm True..... that is a possibility that we can learn from....... but I somewhat prefer The Book of Adam and Eve where Cain slays Abel with a rock........ due to the fact that Abel is supposed to marry Cain's exceptionally beautiful twin sister Luluwa. Theoretical physicists are now talking about non- linear time. Braches of time implies duplicates of each and every one of us. It is theoretically possible that The Garden of Eden events have already occurred several times...… and the specifics could have been different each time around.
The Worldwide Church of God was began by Herbert W. Armstrong and I came into it in the '70's through the TV and radio programs of Garner Ted Armstrong.
That is a very good point! I don't know the answers to these questions but....... I do know that we humans are dealing with technology so far beyond our ability to comprehend....... that we can have better responses to this information than extreme skepticism. I am in no position to rule out the possibility of Cain and Abel having played our their role many times...… and differently each time. Whoever the author of The Book of Jasher was....... .they probably had reasonably good intentions and just as Christian Andreason may have some errors in his NDE book....... that does not mean that we can't learn a great deal from his writing. http://www.allaboutchristian.com/spirituality/ .... As you have probably noticed..... these days I invest far far far more time in attempting to get people to read modern NDE accounts than I put into attempting to explain the ancient writings.
Our culture and society is highly legalistic.............. we concentrate a great deal on testimony being completely accurate........ or cases are thrown out of court! On the following page I quote (D. S.) a near death experiencer who had visions of a future life that she reincarnated into. By remembering that future life....... she feels that she can assist us to transition over to a vastly better world more easily. It is interesting to note that she states that the arts......… are a huge part of life in the future. http://www.politicalforum.com/polit...rencies-finance-films-address-problems-6.html (post #57).....
The Hittites were using iron as early as 1500 BC.https://study.com/academy/lesson/the-hittites-civilization-history-definition.html
After the 42 minute mark in this lecture an important point in the Book of Jasher is verified........ that Esau / Esav killed Nimrod on the day that he sold his birthright. http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/apo/jasher/27.htm
