http://washingtonweeklynews.com/tex...ntract-vowing-not-to-sue-for-wrongful-arrest/ Waco, Texas Earlier today, detainees in the Jack Harwell Detention Center in Waco were told that in exchange for bond reductions, they must sign a document stating the Waco police had the right to arrest the inmate and that he/she will not file a lawsuit against McLennan County and/or the City of Waco. The Waco Police wants absolution for murdering 9 people, and kidnapping and abusing 170 witnesses. But they want to circumvent the legal system. They dont want their crimes to be exposed to the public.
You're right. It's called attempted extortion. - - - Updated - - - Do you have a link for the video footage you claim shows the bikers, "asking to be murdered by their actions"?
They caused their own misfortune here. I don't know why you are defending these animals. - - - Updated - - - Google is your friend. You don't show up at a public place and start a melee with all sorts of weapons including guns and don't expect the police to shoot you when you won't comply.
You still haven't provided any proof they did anything wrong. No one has been charged with murder. I haven't seen any footage of any bikers doing anything wrong. They are American citizens that were wrongly arrested and are being illegally held.
If they were involved in a brawl which led to 9 deaths, then they need to be charged as such. Same as the laws in which 2 persons burgle a home and one is killed by the home owner, the other faces charges for the death. Agree?
The vast majority of those arrested were not involved in a brawl. They were arrested without probable cause and for all intents and purposes are being held without the possibility of bail. (Bail must come in cash or from a local bondsman and there are not enough local bonding agencies to meet that burden).
The personal cost is that many of them may be sitting in jail for many months if they cannot afford the high bail. Defendants sitting in jail for up to 14 months is not uncommon while preparations are being made for their trial. Even bail bond businesses charge a hefty percentage; 10% of 500,000 is still 50,000. Prosecutors often use their powers and influence against defendants to coerce them into signing plea agreements. The threat of multiple charges that can carry long prison sentences is enough to intimidate them. Part of the problem is all the laws on the books for the prosecutor to choose from, which gives them plenty of ammunition to do whatever they want to do. Most people have a mistaken conception that all the laws are fair; they are not, many are vaguely worded so the charges could be pressed against someone in all sorts of situations. It's basically a "Do as we say or we'll cost you lots of money in legal expenses and you will risk a long prison sentence" type situation in many cases.
