Dani isn't important for herself but for what she is. She's the Unburnt, the Mother of Dragons, and the Dragons are the real gamechangers here. The present rulers of Westeros are rapidly evolving toward a society where slavery is approved of, whereas it wasn't under the Targaryens, at least not until the end, when the Dragons were all gone and the Targaryen dynasty, as represented best by Dany's golden crowned brother, had degenerated. Dany is a revival of the line that once ruled Westeros and Valyria well, of people who wielded the greatest power on the planet as their birthright AND took seriously their duty to serve the populace. All the others are just players at their "Game". I find their endless machinations of power and lust the boring part, how much can we take of Royals Behaving Badly?

Yes, Daenerys often lets men use her and can show shockingly bad judgement. She's what, 16 at the most?

Just wait until she gets Tyrion's wisdom. With him as her advisor (if she takes his advice), she will stop being such a (*)(*)(*)(*)-up and become an unstoppable force.

I'm surprised that no one posted anything on this, since last Sunday's episode was probably the best of the season. Daenerys finally met Tyrion, and hired him as an advisor. But the big news was the White Walker attack on the Wildling village. This is such a big reveal that it removes all doubt in the mind of the Wildlings that they have to get south of the wall and join up with the hated crows, and that the human foolishness over the iron throne is nothing compared to the threat to humanity that's coming from up north. And how many episodes left this season?

Whataya know, Dany once again completely reverses herself based on the advice of a man she barely knows. There's no way a character as weak and indecisive as her should inspire so many followers. Major weakness of the show.

Some people will think it strange, but Iv got to say this episode hunted me more then the red wedding and Ned Starks beheading combined. It was just... Horrifying to watch. And what's worse is that It was so stealing awesome at the same time. Easily in the top three best episodes. The massacre at hard home was beautifully done and it really upped the anti for the season and really finally set the stage for the main bad guys (the white walkers). They aren't just some unseen threat slowly lumbering towards us a season a year. They are right freaking here! And, as you've pointed out, the Nights King literally gave Jon the biggest "come at me bro" I have ever seen in my life.

But as I said, this episode really irked me. Great yes, but still terrible. 10s of thousands of free folk gone in seconds. If the white walkers had taken one more day then jon could have saved so freaking many. And great characters we only just met are slaughtered. (Rest in peace badass wildling chick and loboda the thenn). And you just knew the second it started all was lost. All you could do is just sit there and watch as these people fought so futilely knowing that they don't have a hope in hell. And then, poof, 10s if thousand more undead added to the WWs army just like that. I felt pretty crappy after it was over.

What chance in hell do the people of westros have?

I used to be all about Dany but, as you've pointed out, she's just been making bad decision after bad decision for the past season and a half or so. She's being very weak right now (why the hell is she opening the fighting pits instead of killing all the masters???). And she's just really starting to annoy me. I'm all aboard the Stannis train right now lol.

I don't think so. The books suggest that the leader of the WWs, the Nights King, was once human. In fact he was the 19th lord commander.

She's made so many bad decisions that she really needs advice. At least she's smart enough to recognize that.

(*)(*)(*)(*) I hate that Bolton (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) bag...................... cant wait for him to die already.

Jon Snow is going to sit on iron throne in the end, probably marry the blonde dragon lady or something.

Also what is up with all the cockless men on the show......;/

I don't know if I was as haunted by the episode as all that, nor as shocked as the red wedding, but I enjoyed it more than any other episode this season and I've thought about it and it's implications since then. It was by almost any standard, an outstanding episode of television. Even after meeting the badass wildling chick, I liked her, and during the episode I told my wife that I hoped she stuck around for a few episodes. Nope. Fate worst than death and all that. But that's remarkable that the episode managed to pull off being so powerful without killing off any main characters and making me like and miss a character I had just met that episode.

    Great television.

Yeah I agree that Stannis is the most qualified. He's not a nice guy, but he's all about the law and order and that's what the 7 Kingdoms need right now. He's like the Rudy Guliani of Westeros.

And from what I read, the Night King was a former 13th Lord Commander, which makes him thousands of years old. Also a Stark.

The pace of GoT seems to have slowed down to a daytime soap's pace.

There just isn't as much movement in a story in one episode or season as in the days of King Rob't Barathian.

Is it me or is anyone else feeling it too.
Yes the story is advancing, just too slowly is my complaint.

    1) Theon still has his huevos. Will he unleash rage on his tormenter, eventually?

    2) Ramsey is gonna make a ranger style attack on Stannis. Maybe we'll know what happens next season
Stannis is doomed, doomed, doomed. Marching his Army as Winter is Coming. Not Smart. Never heard of the Battle of Moscow. Either one.

    3) Arya's story line is getting as boring as her training is to her. Only the French would call that, art.

    4) The jailed Queen's Grand Meister assured her the work continues.
Will the Mountain Rise like a Golem and free the Queen while wrecking the religious order and it's "high guard".

I have NOT read the books and I am getting so bored with the plodding pace

Are you kidding? In two episodes, the (*)(*)(*)(*) has totally hit the fan. The two most liked characters, Dany and Tyrion, have joined forces, and together they have the power and the brains needed to win the "game". The biggest (*)(*)(*)(*) in the show, Cercei, has been jailed and had to suck water off the floor like a dog. And the army of the dead has been unleashed. Winter is no longer coming. It's here.

I doubt Stannis is going to last much longer. His position is more precarious than ever.

I completely agree. It's really amazing how we meet a character for like all of 30 minutes and yet get so invested in them. I was pissed when the badass thenn dude died and even more so when the wilding chick did. Didn't help that she had to die so horribly either. But it truly was one of the best episodes if the series.

Yeah, I think Ramsey's plan (whatever that is) is going to (*)(*)(*)(*) Stannis up. Like you said, the bad guys win (or at least get a hell of a run) in GoT. But I don't think Jon Snow will die. There is a very well-backed theory that he is half Stark, half Targareon, and I think there is a huge story for him yet to come. I mean, he just became Lord Commander and discovered that his sword can stand up to white walkers! Jon Snow is going to be a VERY big deal.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Although I'm still waiting to find out where Brienne is going to fit in in all this. What's she going to do when she figured out Stannis is right down the street? It's also interesting that she has been pretty much "led" up to the north, very close to the wall, and it just so happens she has a valerian steel sword and we just learned that valerian steel kills WWs. Coincidence???

Yeah, which in typical GoT fashion would mean he's going to die soon. Remember oberyn? Right when his story started getting good, right when he's finally about to start exacting his revenge after almost 20 years of waiting and... Well... We all saw it, though we can never unsee it... In the preview for the next episode there's a scene where jon is standing at the gate of the tunnel with the wildling refugees and sir alister is looking down at him from top the wall. Doesn't look good.

Well, we'll see. I think Jon is going to be a central character though, and is too important to die.

In my humble opinion, with Bolton gone Stark girl will take over winterfell with help of the bull lady and lil finger. Bucks are done for, he will be crushed by Boltons and the red head (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) will probably get hers. I think the cult leader will meet the mountain soon, and lions will get some breathing room.

I want Bolton dead. Dead as a doornail. He soo deserves it.

But that would be very Hollywood, and so far GoT has been very anti-Hollywood.
