It is an undeniable fact that many republicans supported virtually all of the law's provisions prior to Barack Obama being involved though.

If John McCain had won in 2008, and had proposed the EXACT SAME PPACA?

Rightwing Media would have called it a "common sense, conservative, free market solution."

    :)

Repeal bills they KNEW would fail.

Where is the "Replace" bill they've promised for FIVE YEARS???

It's true - ObamaCare's approval numbers remain under water, and while there are a few things that most Americans consider worth keeping or tweaking, the only people who are going to cry over the gutting of that law are the minority of Americans who support it. Republicans can and will live with that math.

And I would argue that even more people consider the ACA a step in the wrong direction. 85% of Americans were fine with their HC before ObamaCare came along - that's an approval rating that ObamaCare has never come remotely close to obtaining. Furthermore, people aren't voting for ObamaCare with their feet - if you think that no one has noticed that tens of millions of Americans aren't dumping their existing HC plans and clamoring for ObamaCare, guess again. Not only has enrollment been anemic and largely confined to people getting a handout or dumped into the program against their will, it's coming up seriously short in forcing young people to bend over and pay for it.

None....because it was Obama doing it.

Again, if McCain had won?....they would have JUMPED on passing the SAME EXACT bill if "President Maverick" had proposed it.

Agreed! Whether they realize it or not, Republicans are in the catbird seat if the SC kills Obamacare. That's because at that point, the Republican Congress can pass any real bill they want, including tort reform, portable health insurance, no coverage mandates, and allow interstate competition for insurance sales. Sure, Obama will veto it, and then HE ALONE will clearly be the one holding up the reform that every American wants, after HE wasted years and hundreds of billions of dollars to give us an unconstitutional plan! THAT is how Republicans need to express it!

Here's a better question: Why aren't the Democrats fixing their piece of (*)(*)(*)(*) "health care" program?

Why aren't they making good on their phony promise to enable people to keep their doctors and HC plans PERMANENTLY, if they like them - period?

Why aren't they getting rid of the highly unpopular crown authoritarian gem in ObamaCare - the individual mandate?

Why not get rid of the business mandate that Obama arbitrarily shelved, since implementing it is obviously such a bad idea all the way around?

It's not like the Republicans wouldn't go along with those corrections, but you and I know full well that the Democrats, and most particularly Obama, aren't going to fix the law's major defects. It's the same old song and dance - party before country. At least Democrats are consistent, but thankfully the voters have remedied their arrogance by stripping them of control of the House and most recently the Senate.

And if you're already seriously compromised presidential candidate goes down with it in 2016, kiss ObamaCare goodbye. :)

Oh he's good at winning his little petty political fights, the problem is it gets nothing done and hurts the economy.

Where is HIS fix to HIS problem or is he so incompetent at actually managing something he can come up with one?

Why would they be forced to do anything like that?

If they did, we all know obama would never sign it.

    Here's a better question....answer my question.

What is this "temporary parachute" plan you spoke of? Give me some details ....the HR # , Senate #.....what's in it?

    Or does it not exist?

    - - - Updated - - -

To show they HAVE a plan...as they've claimed for FIVE YEARS?

A plan "ready to go in 2017 once a Republican is President"?

Or...another more likely theory? They have no plan and they've been bulls****ing about having one for 5 years?

I'm going to paraphrase John McCain: I'm not a Neo-con, if you have issues with the Neo-Cons you should take up the debate with them. But just because I happen to disagree with the ACA, does not make me a hypocrite. I was against this law back in 2009, when it was being debated initially and I was a Libertarian.

You know what I wanted? Nothing at all, but if we were going to have something I said we needed a Public Option, instead of what was being festered onto us. And I have proposed a Mixed Health Care solution, that would eliminate the mandates while allowing for those who need to be covered, to get covered. We don't compel other Americans by diktat, by force for the benefit of others. That's not how it works.

And on taxation for general goods? A: Health Care's not a good. No matter how the Court twisted it, Health Care is NOT a good. It's a utility or a service. A service to be provided, or purchased relative to market value and desirability. B: General goods are provided to the public, universally and taxes are paid back during tax returns.

I'm not sure, but is the ACA funds being reimbursed to those Americans currently putting their money in the subsides pool for lower Americans? Somehow, I'm guessing not as according to major Leftists, we should be happy we're getting health care!(That's literally what they said).

This is an Anti-American law, it spits at the face of everything we're ingrained to believe in: Democracy, rule of law, fairness, etc. It's another crony deal between Big Government and the Insurance companies, as they get a MASS market pool, guaranteed and locked in. While government can say 'Your insured".(And the subsidies which are funneled to the government will most surely NOT be used for such. I'm pretty positive Big Gov will find a way to waste spending here too).

Instead, I want to see health reform where we can customize our own HC plans, so that we can get what we need, not necessarily what Big Gov or what Insurance Companies . I would allow doctors to be able to coorelate with patients for the best, most effective treatments possible. I'd take defense medicine out of the industry. I'd make more drugs safe to be sold over the counter, instead of prescription.

If I got all this done, I'd have done more for Middle class access to insurance than the ACA has achieved thus far.

Since you never answer my own questions, I think I'll return the courtesy on principle. :)

Besides, we already know why the Democrats won't fix their POS program. As Harry Reid confessed, it's the half-measure that's intended to force us all into the same kind of government-run HC system that has so spectacularly and miserably failed our nation's veterans.

And do you know what will be truly insane about this situation once EpicFailCare arrives at its long-overdue final destination? Democrats will submit that all the problems created by more government authority and control over our health care will be "solved" by even more government authority and control over our health care. :psychoitc:

I expect that's exactly how this is going to play out. Democrats and their supporters are laboring under the delusion that Obama won't have to give up something significant like the individual mandate to get a temporary fix for the subsidy fail. I also agree with your prediction that Obama will veto any compromise plan, especially if it involves relinquishing any power and control over the hoi polloi. ObamaCare has never been about improving our HC system...

I asked mine first.....but we both know why you can't answer.

There IS NO "temporary parachute" plan....that's why McConnell is scared of what the SCOTUS will decide.

It doesn't matter. I'm returning the courtesy of your refusal to answer my own questions.

There are several proposals floating around, but as Tomray pointed out, there will be major strings attached.

I realize that the Left and particularly the #BOWDOWN MSM need to put on a happy face and fearmonger, but there's nothing for the GOP to worry about here. ObamaCare is ALL on its namesake and his party, and a ruling against the subsidies will provide Republicans with an opportunity to, for example, get rid of the individual mandate.

But we ALL know Obama and Democrats will never relinquish the crown authoritarian jewel in the program or permit people to keep their doctors and HC plans PERMANENTLY if they like them, period. And so, Obama will paint himself into the veto corner

But look on the delusional side, Cap'n - if the Supremes overturn Jonny Gruber & Co.'s subsidy scheme it will be a WIN for Democrats!

There are portions of the ACA that are not outright hideous and harmful. I think there are some parts of the ACA that everyone can agree are worth exploring as a benefit to America's health care system. However, and this is where your argument falls apart, the ACA is a grotesque monument to government overreach and the ineptocracy of the Democratic Party regime. It does not lower health care costs. It does not make health care better. It does not increase the lifespan of Americans. It does not ensure more Americans have insurance coverage. It is so poorly written and so poorly devised that it has become a train wreck. The train wreck analogy is in the words of Max Baucus, one of the primary authors of the bill.

This owned completely by Democrats, and the fact that you are trying to share some of the blame for this with Republicans is just an indication that you perceive the ACA as a failure. Okay, I agree. It has failed. Now what? Which party is propping up this monstrosity, even after they see it as a failure? That is the salient question and that is the question that will be in the minds of voters, not how the Republcans rescue the Democrats from the harmful bill they passed in the first place.

    Now that is spin.

first its a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing headline to an opinion piece, with speculation the support of the headline. In other words back fence gossip.

If the Republicans "lose" by obtaining the goal they set in the last election (and won, remember) then the sun is slowly freezing.

FFS, not long ago Amerikan "liberals" were claiming it would outright fail! Now you seem to want it to be struck down so Republicans can "lose".

I guess, the people who came up with this strategy didn't consider the ramifications if they did win their goal.....that's "liberal" strategy, shoot first and cover your ass with "you can keep your plan".

As Obamacare goes, so goes the Democratic party.

More people having health insurance including medicaid won't increase their lifespans? Please explain.
