We are not only losing our First Amendment rights to freedom of religion and free speech, but also our Constitutional right to due process of law. When Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries Commissioner Brad Avakian colludes with the largest LGBT advocacy group in the state, Basic Rights Oregon, against Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, they have violated their right to a fair trial. Basic Rights Oregon donated almost $8,000 to Avakians bid for commissioner. In return, Avakian purchasing tickets costing hundreds of dollars to attend Basic Rights Oregons annual fundraising galas and gay pride parades, while his agencys case against the Kleins was underway.
` "The Daily Signal is supported by the resources and intellectual firepower of The Heritage Foundation" - Just because this site is being run my the super conservative Heritage Foundation and is bias, does not mean that the post is nonfactual. Quite to the contrary, having read the article, it does present a good prima facie case for possible collusion (or bias) between the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, and the LGBT organization, Basic Rights Oregon. They are looking a "Summary Judgment" to overturn the original determination made by Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries against Sweet Cakes by Melissa. Despite the hyperbolic statements made by the OP, there is nothing directly constitutional or ground breaking about this.
They should have created an LLC for their business then they could have closed the business and not have to worry about paying the fines. They could have turned around and opened a new bakery the very same day but they are cake people not business people. Now they'll end up being personally responsible for increase the wealth of those they do not wish to associate with. As for the collusion between the government and the gay group is anyone really surprised. Homosexuals are the latest pets of the left so of course they are going to do everything they can to punish those who don't support same sex marriage.
Liberals... Only cost $8,000 to put him in the gay community's pocket, the economy must be worse than even I thought...
Indeed. Whether or not there was collusion, these communications certainly create the appearance of such, and thus call into question the bureau's ruling. I'm not an "ends justify the means" kind of guy. If there was bias and the bureau acted on that bias in crafting its ruling, it should be thrown out.
I was thinking of judges, lawyers would not fall into that category, lawyers can have a bias, such as believing their client innocent, the judge can not
