    He's not talking about Obamacare here. Obamacare wasn't even invented yet. In fact at this time he was making statements strongly against an Obamacare type of system.

    Then why is he speaking against an individual mandate here? He didn't want that kind of system in 2008. He was proposing a single payer system.

    No he wasn't. Don't you know a single payer system has a mandate too? DUH! When taxes are taken out of your pay to cover HC it is a MANDATE! He was talking about his ill conceived ACA. Stop the spin already.

    I didn't say republicans. I said conservatives. Most republicans were against anything Obama came up with. But Obama needed to win a few conservative democrats and more moderate republicans before it could pass. Single payer didn't make it through the conservative democrats.

    Oklahoma is one of the most conservative states. I know in '08 they were the only state to have McCain win every district, so I'm not too sure they're getting what they deserve.

    Of course there wasn't. This was the best Obama was going to get with the Republican Naysayers. Single payer was out of the question. Fixes could have been made, but the chronic attempts at repeal diverted that.
