A Memphis professor who left her job under a cloud after a series of racist tweets and Facebook posts has resurfaced at a school across town, where some of her new faculty peers are not happy to have her as a colleague. Zandria Robinson, who taught sociology at University of Memphis until resigning on June 11, had previously posted on Facebook and Twitter that she did not want her daughter attending school with snotty privileged whites, apparently ramped up her social media rhetoric after leaving the job. In a series of tweets that began June 26, nine days after white racist Dylann Roof gunned down nine African Americans in a Charleston, S.C., church, Robinson wrote that whiteness is most certainly and inevitably terror and said she expected to see thinkpieces about how more mental health services could prevent white people from acting how they are conditioned to act. Officials at Rhodes College announced Robinson's hiring last week, and praised her for her "provocative" comments, some of which were first reported by the website SoCawlege. "As a leading scholar and author in the areas of race, class, gender, culture, and the South, Dr. Zandria Robinsons comments are sometimes provocative, controversial, and debatable," the school said in a statement. However, not all professors are in full support of the controversial hiring. Rhodes College Economics Professor John Murray told National Review that the school is trying to counter bad publicity from a year ago, when people posting from on or just off campus wrote racist comments on the anonymous social media app Yik Yak. But he said hiring someone who made racists statements from a different perspective made little sense. It does seem kind of crazy that were inviting a person to come teach on our faculty who seems to dislike a chunk of our students, Murray said. University of Memphis spokeswoman Gabrielle Maxey told FoxNews.com Robinson was not fired, despite earlier reports. "She resigned on June 11, Maxey said. Robinson has a climactic history of racially-provocative posts on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Robinson could not be reached for comment. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/07/0...racist-tweets-resurfaces-at-crosstown-school/ Where's Sharpton? Where's the ACLU? Why is this obvious racism tolerated at all? She needs to be canned, immediately. "Provocative"? How about blatantly racist.
Can't afford to let such a blatant racist get away. There's nothing that lends prestige to a college like snapping up an out and out bigot.
Just think how many young people were infected by this wretch before she was outed by social media. Is it a wonder our education system is in shambles...
They were not infected, she stated “snotty privileged whites,” that was a specific group within in a race. It is similar to when FOX refers to specific groups within a race to describe criminals.
Say what you want about elementary and secondary education, our colleges and universities are not "in shambles."
“thinkpieces about how more mental health services could prevent white people from acting how they are conditioned to act." Defend blatant racism, it just makes people look stupid.
I was thinking about the amount of scientific research coming out of our universities compared to other nations. I don't know where you're getting this idea that you can only major in English or Art.
Just so we're clear, you're sticking up for this racist bigot? I just want to know exactly where you stand before I debate your comment. Sure sounds like you are defending the bigot.
Robinson has belatedly made her Twitter feed private, but Thursday Campus Reform published screenshots of several older tweets on her account that show a persistent pattern of hating whites, Christians, and even other blacks. In one particularly strange pair of tweets made in March, Robinson admitted to having severe premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a condition characterized by emotional and mood problems. Due to her difficulty treating it, Robinson theorized her menstrual mood swings may simply have been caused by white people rather than any internal hormonal fluctuations:
You know, there are more arts degrees being accepted into medical schools than science degrees, right? And science degrees can't compete with arts degrees for law school spots. People have found that science/engineering students are barely literate.
Pffft...waste of time fluff study crap. Only way to make this even less valuable? Have it taught by an open racist who had to leave her last post.
When someone on the right is perceived to make racist comments (i.e. Trump, and his comments weren't racist) many on the right bash him and want him to back out of the race or at least want a petition to keep him out of the debates. When someone on the left makes PROVEN racist remarks and is FIRED for them, that's when another liberal university not only defends her racism but also gives her a job. Pardy, are you there?
The really good news is that the liberal arts fields that this professor inhabits are losing strength in colleges, as students are beginning to realize that majoring in these fields are not likely to land them a job after graduation. With any luck, in the upcoming decades, people like this professor will not be able to find a job at a university.
Amazing. This woman certainly needs to be fired, immediately. They shouldn't give her the opportunity to "resign", she should be fired. This woman is clearly and obviously a blatant racist, and her professional record should be ding'd by it (since she chose to bring that into her profession). It's no more than any "social justice" group would do to any other person who made racist remarks like that. Imagine that, blaming your biology on "white people". Jeez. (slaps forehead)
When you live in a world where you can "identify" as something you're not, when your President drops the N bomb on national TV, and police are the enemy... does this even surprise you?
