As an American, who respects military veterans, I am personally OFFENDED by Donald Trump's disgusting & pathetic attacks upon John McCain and his military record.

John McCain was a lieutenant commander and fighter pilot in the US Navy, and served his country for 8 years, including a year as a POW where he was tortured hourly.

Donald Trump got two education deferments from Vietnam, then a medical deferment, then ultimately declarewd unfit to serve even in times of national emergency.

Clearly, during the war, Trump was a coward and a liar. He let others fight the war for him.

While others did their duty, and others like my own father actuallyt volunteered to serve in the army, regardless of their draft number.

Trump is a piece of (*)(*)(*)(*), and doesn't deserve to be President, let alone the President's pissboy.

    Okay.

You have the right to be offended.

    Did you serve?

Is a person not entitled to an opinion unless they served in the military.

It's clear that Trump is a coward and doesn't respect the troops. But this is not at all surprising.

Trump's deferment papers should be released. I'd like to know what illness he had that prevented him from serving.

Trump's momentum worries the Libs as witnessed here. He's got spunk and tells it like it is and needs no teleprompter like ObaMao.

Of course they are. I didn't serve in the active military. (I came "close" - yuk - but that only counts in horseshoes). ;)

The real point is one that no one has discerned yet. I pointed it out in the other thread.

He's not being cowardly, he's saying something very specific. (I mean, "in addition to" his ongoing feud with McCain).

It is simply his opinion. We should encourage all to express their opinions and not criticize such free speech. But we should also be encouraged to say we simply disagree with any opinion when we do so. If Trump were to say he doesn't like hot dogs the people who don't like him would say he's un-American and doesn't deserve to be president. Much ado about nothing. What a circus !!!

Oh man a liberal is offended ...stop the presses.

But seriously, you're a liberal ...when you say you respect the military it's impossible to believe because ...you're a liberal.

And saying you're an American is also impossible to believe because you're a member of the party who's very existence is predicated on the notin that America is bad and should be destroyed so that it can be rebuilt minus all the factors that made America great.

McCain starts a fight with Trump, Trump responds, liberal media gets involved, and now a comment about McCain has become "the troops".

    Lulz.

He's got spunk but he's saying ridiculous things, is the most well known birther, rails against Mexico and China while giving jobs to Mexicans and Chinese people rather than Americans to make his clothing, and has a pomeranian on his head. It would be unimaginable for the republican base to nominate him. It won't happen. If it does, it will be a very lopsided election in 2016. It will be hilarious too.

You have to admit that Hillary is a ridiculous candidate too. When she talks, lies and deceptions come out. If it weren't so tragic that this is your best candidate, it would be hilarious. She talks about the 1 percenters, yet
she is one herself. She talks about Wall Street, but they are funding her campaign, having contributed over $2.6 million dollars so far. She will say anything or do anything to get elected. We do NOT want a continuation of Obama.

Its hilarious watching these liberals come to the defense of McCain when they couldn't hate him enough for picking Palin as a running mate.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend I guess.

    His hero comment?

    Absolutely.

I have long thought that simply calling anyone who puts on a uniform a "hero" is disingenuous.

There is nothing heroic about getting captured, we have prisons filled with thousands of "heroes" if that is the case.

is that all McCain did? put on a uniform???

he didn't serve his country for 8 years???

he wasn't a fighter pilot, attacking our enemies????????

your minimizing of his actions during wartime is sad

Of course he did all that but how does that make him a hero?

See, you guys use that word so much that it no longer carries any meaning.

Where exactly is the heroic action involved in flying a jet over something and dropping a bomb?

Heroic actions are things that go above and beyond normal service, not just doing your job.

This entire "controversy" is symbolic of the idiotic nature of modern-day 'journalism'.

Let me begin by saying I am no fan of Donald Trump but I can't help but shake my head and laugh at the way the other Republican candidates and the news media jumped all over Trump's remark about John McCain. This morning during one of the Sunday morning interviews, the woman interviewer tried to rehash Trump's remark and talk about McCain's service and Trump's college and medical deferments.

Attention, media: NOBODY GIVES A S**T!!! If there is ANY story here, it should be about how our government is supporting its veterans. Trump was right when he said for all of McCain's 'heroics,' he's done diddily squat for veterans. He's all talk and no action. But instead of talking about the God-awful support we provide our Vets, let's rehash (yet again) Vietnam War service. :wall:

Were you as offended when Democrats spent 2008 attacking McCain and his war record?

    If not, you're a hypocrite.

I can only pray millions of so-called conservatives share your thoughts, loudly and publicly.

Most of us on the Left DO NOT want to see him stop constructing minefields for the clowns to traverse - only smoothes Sander's or Clinton's road out at the end of the day.

I would rather have Obama going forward than Hillary. Obviously, that's not going to happen. Nor should it. There's only one candidate that rarely flip-flops and tells the truth whether it's a popular opinion or not. That would be Bernie Sanders. Like him or not, you won't see a pants on fire ruling from fact checkers on anything he says.

Sanders is definitely the most honest candidate out there. Could take him far in the next year+.
