Tell it to the Iranians who realized Obama would agree to anything to make this deal. Too bad the president didn't have the guts to bring up our hostages to counter Iran's demand but obviously he didn't give a damn about them.

    I don't see how.

Great for world trade. Not so good for
    world stability and peace.
This deal has made us all much more vulnerable by giving in to blackmail.

I really do not know what to believe anymore. I no longer trust the main media outlets to be correct with the facts or to be truthful when they do have the facts. Plus, every blogger in the world is spinning their version of the truth and trying to pass it off a journalism.

No, I'm not saying that we should take Iran at their word. After all, they have spouted enough rhetoric to cause concern about their motives. However, our own Government has proven time and again that their motives are often questionable as well.

I often ask myself if Iran having a nuclear bomb would necessarily be as bad as many seem intent on leading us to believe. I'm sure that Israel has a larger legitimate concern about this than anyone. I also ask myself if a country as archaic as Iran, as compared to the rest of the modern world, is really willing to waste resources to develop a nuclear bomb instead of using those resources to better the lives of their people. I guess fanatics have done worse throughout history, so it is not inconceivable.

Iran may be developing a nuclear bomb, but I am sure that they understand that if they use it, it would be the end of their own country. While some of their leaders may be fanatical, I doubt if they are stupid. It causes one to wonder if this is not more than just a threat in order to actually benefit from the controversy.....kind of like "The Mouse that Roared".

Sure, there is the possibility that they do desire to build a nuclear bomb and I am sure their intent would be to use one on Israel or a western country if they are working in that direction. However, a country that one is used on would gain worldwide sympathy and Iran would receive worldwide condemnation. To me it would defeat any purpose that they would seek to gain by it's use.

Jerusalem is only 43 square miles. One nuclear bomb would be the end of Israel, it would be sympathy for a dead nation. Iran has supported and used as agents terrorist organizations before, any one of which could smuggle a suitcase into Jerusalem.

Iran is a weird mix of a modern nation with modern goals combined with some scary archaic fanaticism and rhetoric that makes it horribly unpredictable. It's hard to know what to expect of a nation whose goals aren't always founded in the real world.

It's bad that Iran will get the bomb at this point. But I think it's also unavoidable. Best we can do is try to open up some dialog and trade so we at least have some influence to try and talk them out doing something very ... bad.

99% of the world doesn't mean (*)(*)(*)(*) when the nuclear bombs start flying out of Iran on top of their ballistic missiles. If 99% of the world prefers Obama I wish he would have left here years ago and gone to be their dictator instead of being one here.

How did dialogue with the Nazis work out for Neville Chamberlain?

The fascists in Tehran will do whatever they want, and they've already shown that they will exploit the weakness of the invertebrate in the White House to the hilt. He has never had any influence over their behavior and never will.

Yup. But maybe we can influence what they want. You think we'll get a better result by going to war with Iran? *shrug* You might be right. For the next couple years though, I think a carrot will get us farther than a stick. Especially since we'll need that stick shortly for Russia.

Jerusalem also has many Muslims and Muslim holy places within it. I doubt it would be a target. Even if it was, I doubt it would be the end of Israel. Maybe if that is a concern (which I agree it is), then maybe we should be concerned more with preventing a nuclear bomb from crossing the border. It is not a simple mater to transport a nuclear device without anybody knowing with today's technology.

Iran has often claimed that they do not want a nuclear bomb, but are only interested in supplying their country with nuclear power. Do I believe them? Not at all. If it is inevitably that they will get a bomb eventually, then how is our causing innocent people to suffer with sanction going to help in the long run? Yes, it might buy us time, but what is the chances that time will make a difference. In the interim, innocent people suffer because politicians (on both sides) are too interested in playing politics than they are of actually solving the problem.

If I thought continuing sanctions as we're doing would by us more time before Iran get's a nuclear bomb, the idea that some citizens of Iran would be inconvenienced wouldn't bother me in the least. So many more would suffer if Iran used a nuclear device.

I don't think it will. At this point, it seems inevitable Iran will get that device. Best scenario now is to be talking with them and have them want something from us, when they do.

I have never advocated war with Iran because the people, for the most part, aren't America-hating idiots like the Islamist butchers who rule them.

I reject Obama's dishonest false choice that the only options we have are war or full capitulation to the Iranian government, which is what we got with Obama's deal. We still have the option of keeping the bans and sanctions in place and the threat of military force on the table.

What needs to be understood here is that the Iranian government - just like the one in Russia - rightly perceives appeasement as weakness. I brought up Chamberlain's failed dialogue with Hitler, but a better and more recent example would be how Obama's concessions in his "Russian Re-Set" had the undesired effect of convincing the Kremlin that they could get away with invading Ukraine and seizing the Crimea. People predicted that this would happen, because thugs like Vladimir Putin and Ali Khamenei are simple, predictable creatures, as most thugs are.

So, endowed with an additional $100 billion, the thugs in Tehran will do the same. Now they will have the additional resources to further impose their will on people at home and abroad. Naturally, this will lead to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East and remove any incentive on the parts of the Sunni Arab governments in the region to do anything about militant/terrorist groups such as ISIS who are fighting Iran and its lackeys in Damascus, Baghdad and Lebanon.

And so, it's out of the frying pan and into the fire, and unfortunately, the good people of Iran are going to suffer for Obama's craven capitulation, as well.

You are just quoting Israeli dogma. If Israel is so concerned about others having nuclear weapons it should set an example and destroy all its nuclear weapons.

It's concerned specifically with Iran having nuclear weapons as it's Iran that has pledged to destroy Israel.

And so are all the other Persian gulf nations. The Saudis, Qatar, UAE, etc. The Saudis seem to think Iran cannot be trusted and we can hardly blame Israel for that.

So if someone is threatening to shoot me my best defense is to throw my gun on the ground and close my eyes? Where did you learn this crap?

More Israeli dogma from Yoshe Shmenge. Israel has nuclear weapons and has threatened to bomb Iran. Israel protests are hypocritical.

I repeat that if Israel is so concerned about this they should lead by example and hand over their nuclear weapons for destruction.

    - - - Updated - - -

Israel is the entity with nuclear weapons and which has threatened to bomb Iran. Israel should throw its nuclear weapons on the ground.

EVERYONE in the middle east is hypocritical. It goes with the territory.

"Hand over"? To whom? Us? I mean, we'd just give 'em right back...

Israel can do that. It hasn't signed the NPT.

Ha ha - is that kind of like "throwing down the gauntlet"? ;)

And then what? I mean.... Israel disarms.... what do you expect to happen next?

Israel has threatened to strategically bomb Irans nuclear facilities. Iraq has vowed to annihilate the entire country of Israel. Odd you can't see the difference.

Along with ballantine I'd be interested in what you perceive to be the repercussions of Israel disarming in the wake of a nuclear Iran? I'm not interested in your feelings of the issue in this moment in time. What do you perceive as the final outcome?

When has Israel simply said it will drop a thermo nuclear device on Iran? That's bull crap (though I'm hardly surprised).

That's pure foolishness and is like demanding a home owner turn over his shot gun when he demands disarming criminals.

It creates a false equivalency between Israel and the number one sponsor of global terrorism, Iran.
    And that's absurd.

Bibi has been quacking about Iran being an "existential threat" since 1995 and has continued to recruit settlers and build Jewish only homes in the West bank.. AND, Israel did pull sneak attacks on Iraq and Syria.

Iran has basically been pushed into getting a nuclear weapon...

Three days ago Bibi said that he still might attack Iran........

I am resigned to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait both getting nuclear weapons as a deterrent.

Israel recently indulged in some experiments with radioactive materials in explosives and there is some speculation that Israel used tactical nuclear devices in Yemen recently.

Of the 2 states, Israel has been the most active in nuclear weapons research and production.

Israel is using the Iran situation to deflect criticisms of its actions against Palestinians.

You are just ranting. Even Israel's Mossad don't believe Iran has nuclear weapons or is likely to in the wake of the recent deal removing sanctions and imposing surveillance.

If Israel gave up it's nuclear weapons the most likely outcome would be a boost for Middle East peace. No rational person believes that Iran wants or is capable of initiating a nuclear war in Middle East.

    - - - Updated - - -

    A ferocious outbreak of peace.
