    Trump is not a problem for the Republicans because of his excessive, made-for-headlines, provocative (or racist) pronouncements. (He's gone from birther to Mexican-basher.)

    He's a problem because one out of six or so Republicans are exclaiming, "Yeah, what he said!" If Trump were polling at the same level of, say, Ohio Gov. John Kasich (2 percent), he certainly would deserve minimal notice. But his muscular showing in Republican voter surveys—which will land this media-savvy say-anything egomaniac on the GOP debate stage—is a sign that tea party extremism (which often comes with a racial component) still grips the Republican party. He's not a carnival barker outside the tent. He holds sway over one of the rings of the GOP circus.

    The center ring? Maybe not.

    But for years, the Republicans have exploited and banked on paranoid, angry, and resentful tea party-ish voters. They played footsie with the irrational Obama-haters who believed in death panels and all the secret-Muslim-socialist-born-in-Kenyan-dictator-take-away-your-guns-let-illegals-in-and-destroy-America crap. This is how they gained control of the House and then the Senate.

    Well, this crowd wants more red meat. And Mr. You're Fired has identified this market and seeks to satisfy the demand.

    Motherjones News: Hahahahaha. Just another far-left Socialist International mouthpiece. For you to blaspheme as racists people who are anti-illegal-immigration is an outrage. I abhor illegal immigration for so many reasons: because American children have a right to a fair and equal education; and that doesn't happen when the teacher spends half her day translating lessons into Spanish; because I have children who work hard, and should not have money coercively taken from them and given to illegal immigrants; and for so many other reasons. 75% of illegal Mexican, and Guatemalan immigrants are on some kind of welfare, and 82% of Dominican Republic illegals are on some kind of welfare. The US spends $446 billion dollars/year on Medicaid, one-fifth of which goes to illegals. They are an expensive drag on the US education system, costing US taxpayers an extra $11.3 billion dollars/year, and they are a drag on US infrastructure; Their deficit per household is $15,000 per year, which means taxpayers make up $15,000/year deficit per illegal immigrant household. The hidden costs for illegal immigration are probably staggering, but trying to find information on the financial burden of illegal immigration isn't easy.
    My family has fought and died for this country, and paid taxes to the US government for many generations. Now I find my sons enslaved to Mexican, Honduran, Ecuadorian, Salvadorian, Dominican Republic, et al illegal immigrants. It is bad enough my generation was forced to pay taxes to support the reproduction of welfare queens, now my children are slaves to the same people, but now they are also slaves to illegals and even to geriatric legals.

    Mother Jones is not worth commenting on.

    However this is not 1980, and we're not going to have another Reagan amnesty. (Obama tried, and got shot down, and anyone else who tries will get shot down too).

    I'm with tidbit on this one. The costs of illegal immigration are staggering, and it's the corporations who should really be paying those costs, since they're the ones who want the cheap labor.

    But they don't do that - oh no. They foot the taxpayers with the bill, while they run off with all the profits from the cheap labor. The taxpayer is left holding the bag, not only in terms of money, but also in terms of crime and everything else that comes along with the illegals.

    The end result is that the American middle class becomes wage slaves to a bunch of illegal aliens. We're the ones getting taxed, and they're the ones getting represented.

    This will not stand. Americans are sick of this kind of drainage, and the righties among us are not about to support anyone who wants open borders.

    If immigrants are such terrible people why do business with anyone that hires these people such as Wal-Mart,landscapers,eateries,Koch industries,property management companies etc etc etc.
    After all IF immigrants could not find gainful employment they would not be here.

    Solution: fine all employers who hire such terrible people $20,000 per employees on the first infraction. Second infraction fine $50,000 per employee and 6 months in the lock up.

    BTW Mother Jones is an excellent publication for it is not owned by the few who only regurgitate the same stories in their like minded news agencies yet fail to inform.

    Law(s) already exist.....usually coupled with fines!

    Good luck getting ALL candidates <(R) or (D)> to enforce or even mention this (these) law(s).
    It is against their (lobbied) best interests........

    Motherjones News is a socialist rag. I used to read it on a regular basis when I was a 'morally superior' way-to-the-left lefty. If I used to read it in 'the good old days' (not), it is a socialist rag. It "regurgitates the same stories in their like minded news agencies yet fail to inform". grammar, grammar, grammar.

    Employers are the problem not the immigrants no question about it. Don't like it don't do business with those that
    hire immigrants.

    This bogus GOP party does not give a hoot about immigrants coming across the borders. If they did why didn't they stop the
    flow when they controlled the white house and congress? All they do is pee and moan because their positions and platforms
    lack substance.

    He is not a problem for the GOP...the GOP is the problem for the GOP and the lame, ineffectual way they have 'led'. I can't say they've been any better than Obama. They go on Fox News and run their mouths, stomping their feet like angry toddlers, but then doing nothing except cave to Obama.

    If anything, Trump has forced them to grow a pair. Hopefully Trump will herald in a new, stronger party not afraid to fight the Democrats, even the black ones, instead of being scared to be called racists if they do.

    1. concern about illegal immigration crosses party lines-to suggest its only a Republican concern is crap;

    2. Republicans come in all colours and ethnicities and to suggest or infer the Republican party is anti Latino is crap;

    3. Jeb Bush's wife is Mexican and if you think Republicans won't vote for him for that reason you would be sorrily mistaken;

    4. Many anti Castro Cubans supported Obama and will switch now to the Republicans;

    5. It is absolute smeering and stereotyping to pull out some b.s. reference to 1/6th of Republicans agree with him-really-agree with what-finish your fake stereotype and smeer and more to the point if 5/6th's of Republicans according to your own b.s. reference are not in agreement with him, how does that make him popular or even important?

    6. Trump is not in the race to win-he is in it to get publicity for business-he will say or do anything to get reason-its just a p.r. stunt for him;

    7. Trump insulted McCain-John McCain was imprisoned 6 years-he had both his arms broken, his shoulder crushed, all his teeth broken, his finger nails mutilated, was repeatedly beaten, and refused to leave before other soldiers were taken out first during the Vietnam war-no one in either party would ever question his loyalty, his dedication, the 6 years of suffering he went through after his plane was shot down and he broke his leg-no one-except-Trump and in so doing, Trump shows what he is-a mentally unstable coward, a pathetic blow-hard-a man with a very small penis in need of compensation-this is a man who avoided being drafted and he ridicules McCain for being caught?

    No one in either party because of such comments will have anything to do with him.

    McCain is the elder statesman for the Republicans and respected by all. He has bi partisan respect.

    That insult ended any Trump credibility-no Republican who might agree with some of his comments will put up with that.

    Please-show me a Republican who will stand by what Trump has said-and one last thing-concerns over immigration are not exclusive to Republicans let alone non Latino voters.

    Just because someone is Latino does not mean they condone or agree with illegal immigration. That is crap.

    This attempt to smeer Republicans because Trump is a bafoon is laughable. But hey if I were a democrat I would be avoiding dealing with Hilary and trying to change the subject.

    If I recall correctly in a poll last year, McCain was voted the least respected of all the Senators by the American people.

    It's probably the only thing Trump said that gives him credibility. I should think everyone would want to vote for him just for insulting 'insane' McCain.

    I would imagine a Real Hero who has been at war

    would place a higher value on American blood, bone & lives

    than McCain does.

    McCain's record of promoting deployments is :crazy: or profitable.

    Never heard that before that the GOP died in 1980. But that party certainly was not the party of Ike that is for sure. The party that came into power with Reagan in 81 sold out American workers which ike would have never done. Deregulated the banks so we got too big to fail casinos, and are set on destroying the middle class. So, perhaps the GOP did die in 80 and we got the creators of the current oligarchy. And the men who sought to divide America, and then use that division to commit their dismantling of the most successful economic model ever seen.

    McCain is a "neo-con", a RINO. He believes using the U.S. military for nation building just like liberal and progressive Democrats do. Hillary Clinton is one of them.

    Then comes the Supply Side Economics New World Order in which Reagan/GHW were instrumental. The items below became tools of economic destruction out went
    Fiscal responsibility

    1. Mergers

    2. Hostile Takeovers

    3. Leveraged Buyouts

    4. Free Trade Agreements = USA jobs chief export

    5. Reagan/Bush Savings and Loan home loan scandal which killed the economy and cost the USA millions of jobs.

    6. Bush/Cheney Home Loan scandal killed the economy and cost the USA millions of jobs

    7. Busting Unions

    8. Maintaining a high unemployment rate as a tool to keep wages down down down

    All of above ultimately translate into millions upon millions upon millions of USA job losses. Big time layoffs are the end result. These jobs go abroad with tax codes that prevent taxation on profits made
    abroad from USA big name corporations.

    Mussolini deregulated all Italian industry ... then he privatized everything the government owned.

    It is the PATH to fascism it's exactly what this bogus republican party wants.
