To a point. The gun grabbers want to ban guns because they support the power of the riot as a political tool. It's why there's not going to be a riot in Texas.

your question is patently dishonest as is your line of bs. The child was not TRAINING with a weapon of war so stop the blood clot lying

I have seen many like you-you demand we accept your idiotic definitions so you get the answer you want. The UZI in question was not a weapon of war anymore than the Willys jeep my friend used as transportation to HS in the 70s was a WAR VEHICLE.

OK so you are here to bait pro gun posters because you don't like our politics. I couldn't care less if you don't like shooting and your recreational activity is insulting others. Your question is dishonest so you won't get the answer you like. Deal with it or best yet, run off since none of us have any use for your antics here

back when I was a Fed, one of the Courthouse security officers (almost all were retired from the USMS or DEA etc) was a former Deputy US Marshal who served in southern Florida. as you may recall there was a major riot when a hispanic Police Officer shot a black youth who was fleeing on a motor bike or Moped (I don't recall). well the former Deputy noted that the riots were violent but they stopped right on what is the border of the Cuban neighborhoods. Why I asked? well he noted Cuban Americans tend to be heavily armed and even mindless rioters were smart enough to know what happens if they took their "street theater" into a Cuban area. He also noted that they have a feast in that area in honor of a saint (and like that scene from Godfather Two), a wooden statue of the saint is displayed and people tack money onto it for the church. and no one=but NO ONE-even thinks of stealing even a dollar off of that saint's statue. A well armed society is both polite and rather crime free

What I have noticed is that riots occur where they can occur and that is in a nice safe environment for the looters. What you can see it that the instigators are pushing the edge of the envelope. One day, likely quite soon, they will overplay their hand. I wonder if guys like Sharpton really are pushing for the inevitable.

You have gotten your panties all in a wad over a single YouTube video of an underage girl misusing a gun you don't like. Then you go on to believe that young people in the Middle East and Africa were just being one with nature and must have never-ever been part of a warrior class at a similar young age until the evil White man came and gave them guns and AK-47's? Then you extrapolate that to believe that military weapons should only be for the military and police and bodyguards for elite people.

    What a bunch of baloney.

See Chuck, that is your problem....what you personally know and don't know is NOT the whole story. But when you are presented with FACTS that contradict or correct your beliefs, you fight it tooth and nail.

Look, let's not waste more time with you blowing smoke....just answer the question. What the hell is the point in having kids use military weapons as target practice, training for competition, or shooting for "fun"? Guns are for killing...and going from playing toy gun "bang-bang" to the real thing just isn't necessary UNLESS the parent has an end game in mind.

And keyboards don't type by themselves on this forum. People use the tools for their intended purpose.

Another stupid question by you to avoid answering the question(s) I put forth earlier. If you're not intellectually honest or brave enough to debate the issue, then I won't waste time responding to your foolishness.

I HAVE trained my son in all sorts of weapons. He also has a black belt in TKD. He is expert in butterfly knives. WE have rubber knives we train with so he is adept in using real knives in defensive situations. He has a L6 hand forged Jingum (korean version of a Katana) as well as a heavy plastic version he practices with. He has been well trained with AR-15s, AK platform weapons, revolvers, semi auto handguns and semi auto shotguns. He shoots constantly, with shotguns rifles and pistols The world is full of violent and predatory criminals and insane would be killers. I have done my best to make sure he will be able to keep himself and his loved ones safe. and if it upsets cowardly gun banners as well, its an added bonus.

So essentially you've just reiterated the dreck spewed by the survivalists of the 1980's.....And thirty some odd years later, all they accomplished was a waste of time, effort and money.
Your using the 2nd Amendment as some sort of implied mandate is laughable....since you mention NOTHING about belonging to or pushing your kids to join the State militia (that pesky part that NRA folk keep trying to rewrite or ignore).

Bottom line: millions and generations of Americans grew up, were prepared by their parents, and lived out their lives in relative peace and harmony WITHOUT having to train with guns (military, civilian, whatever) or ever owning one. That YOU feel it's necessary sets up situation for potential disaster, as the story from last year I posted shows.

My father is a NYC 1st grade homicide detective (ret.), and familiarized his kids with weapons and cases of what they can do. Like many good cops, he made numerous arrests and convictions WITHOUT EVER HAVING TO FIRE HIS WEAPON. And like any good cop, he schooled us on how a shotgun or revolver is more than adequate to defend your home...and how carrying one around is more likely to get yourself or an innocent killed instead defending yourself (unless your job requires it). Yes, other states have different geography, demographics and traditions where having a hunting rifle on your pick-up is normal...and I have NO problem with law abiding citizens owning a gun. But this nonsense of arming everyone to the teeth as the only solution to crime is just that...nonsense. Training kids to practice with military assault weapons is nonsense as well.

you are lying when you suggest that the only purpose of guns is for killing. My wife and son spent the afternoon shooting olympic style trap-I guess killing clay pigeons is the way hoplophobic gun haters would put it. and besides, sometimes killing others or animals is proper. as Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry once noted

There's nothing wrong with shooting people as long as the right people get shot and while that is a bit flippant, in some cases, its the best option. and having SHOT a MUGGER personally, that was the best OPTION for me and the judges and grand jury that examined the shooting concurred with me.

what is a military assault weapon. That alone proves to me you haven't a clue what you are talking about. and if I could own a military assault RIFLE without having to spend 20,000 dollars for a weapon that really is worth only 900 or so dollars (A full auto M4 carbine should not cost any more than the semi auto versions I own) I would and i'd have my son training with one as much as he does with the semi auto versions. People who want to disarm other Americans or want to ban guns are a good reason why freedom loving citizens need to be both well armed and well trained with weapons

You got those parents red-handed bro.

Obviously their 8 year old girl is being prepared for the French Foreign Legion. You should see her war face, it's terrifying. She even made taking out the instructor look like an "accident".

For someone who is anti-gun you are a formidably aggressive internet warrior.

All you have to do is bend that metal part and apply some magic dust to make it full auto. Everyone knows that.

Incidentally, WAS the Uzi even full auto? In the video it looked like a semi-auto.

And what you just did was give a feature news coverage whose intent was to mock VP Biden...when in fact the man in the story DEFENDED HIS HOME WITH A LEGAL WEAPON....something you gunners are always raving about. That the local cops pushed a technicality due to the shooting through the window when no one was to be seen.

What YOU are trying to justify is the idiocy of giving an Uzi to a child. Please tell us all when and how in America is a child needing to handle an Uzi "safely and effectively"? The Uzi is a weapon designed for warfare, plain and simple. To compare that to the Florida incident is yet another moronic stretch of NRA punditry to justify weapon sales. My God, a man DIED because of attitudes like yours....if that Uzi was not there and had the kid's parents had some common sense, that tragedy wouldn't have taken place.

you need to read carefully and comprehensively, my friend. I'll repeat and emphasize from the opening post:

So the question that immediately comes to mind is, what the hell is this kid "practicing" for?

. Hell, you have accidents in law enforcement and the military with recruits learning to handle weapons from time to time. So why risk it with kids?

And here's a thought....when we see videos of "child soldiers" in parts of Africa, or grade school kids in celebration waving and shooting automatic weapons in the Middle East, Americans are repelled and horrified. So why turn such a thing into a "game" or "entertainment" for children here?

What good is the 2A if the people are not proficient in the use of arms. The right to keep and bear arms is a right and I don't have to justify how I use that right or pass my values to my kids.

What does your dad's job have to do with our right to have guns? Why do cops have more rights than any other adult? My kids are law abiding and know right from wrong. One of them is now in the military with a top secret security clearance. Why can't he carry a gun when off duty? Am I not allowed to protect myself from muggings and carjackers?

It was full auto but the hysterical claims that she was training with a weapon of war rates way up there in the silly lies we see constantly from the anti gun extremists on this board

Joseph, you need to stop blowing smoke.

As the chronology of the posts shows, YOU (and/or one of your cohorts) made the statement that the Glock 18was replacing the Uzi, not me. I asked for proof, and while your link is informative, it does NOT show support that claim. Hell, even I know that the Uzi is a submachine gun, NOT a hand pistol. Big difference that a self proclaimed "expert" such as yourself should have known. So all your chest pounding about your weapons experience is dubious at best.

So I'll take excerpts from my opening post, and put the question to you and your fellow "experts" again. Maybe you'll muster the intellectual honesty to answer them:

So the question that immediately comes to mind is, what the hell is this kid "practicing" for?

. Hell, you have accidents in law enforcement and the military with recruits learning to handle weapons from time to time. So why risk it with kids?

you don't hunt animals with an Uzi. And if you're so concerned and intent about training kids to fight against would be oppressors, then why not advocate for mandatory 2 year military service like other countries do?

    - - - Updated - - -

I ask a simple question and all I get is a lot of dodges and smoke blowing. Here it is again: So the question that immediately comes to mind is, what the hell is this kid "practicing" for?

    With each post you keep pushing your opinions as fact, which is absurd given the historical facts. Likewise, your silly comparisons keep getting worse....case in point, you can adapt a jeep to drive on any road, but not a tank....an Uzi is an military assault weapon that is STILL in use. Here, for your education: http://www.israel-weapon.com/?catid={68CB9B9F-188E-4DC9-8830-B1A95C272BB7}

And since you are either being purposely dense or have a reading comprehension problem, I'll repeat from the original post: So the question that immediately comes to mind is, what the hell is this kid "practicing" for?

The only baloney being spread here is by you.

YOU made the claim that child warriors in Africa today are the same as they were 1000 years ago....yet YOU offer NO proof of such other than your opinion, supposition and conjecture. You made the statement, if you can't back it up with FACT then you're just blowing smoke. I suggest you do some research as to how and why child soldiers came to be in contemporary Africa, and how the AK-47 got into the situation (hint: gun traffickers, Russians, colonialist wars, South Africa, Rhodesia, etc.).

your last sentence is a lie, for I said no such thing. But if you're confused, here are the excerpted questions that have you so perturbed: So the question that immediately comes to mind is, what the hell is this kid "practicing" for?

. Hell, you have accidents in law enforcement and the military with recruits learning to handle weapons from time to time. So why risk it with kids?

I think you must live in an alternate universe.

If a child picks up a bat---is he practicing to be a major leauge Baseball player?

If a child picks up and plays with a frisbee---does that mean anything important?

If a child or adult picks up a knife---are they going to use this weapon to train for war---or are they going to cut carrots, cut a rope or carve wood?

If a 12 year old boy or girl picks up a gun they are safely able to handle, and under proper supervision---are they always perparing for war---or are they just enjoying a simple pastime as millions around the world do?

Try to see past your fixation with your broken logic that:

anytime a child picks up a gun that can be used by the military---

the child is always training for war.

You keep picking up the gauntlet for your compadres, and with each post your stories keep getting grander and grander. But as the chronology of the posts shows, I've already exposed your lack of knowledge and subsequent flawed logic on several points. Essentially, you're just displaying the tactics of a crank who no longer warrants consideration or response....and will be treated accordingly.
