The only thing that would actually work is self deportation as we saw with the crash of the housing bubble, where many Hispanics went back home when their construction job ended.

To cause this self deportation is so easily done, which is why no one will do it. Pass a law that makes the employment of an illegal a felony. Hell, we have made it a felony to not take care of animals here in my state. So, make it a felony with prison time, and then supply citizens with a reward if they bust a business who is using illegals. We could solve this problem in a matter of months. They would self deport, if there was no work here. Next, make it impossible to get welfare unless you are a US citizen.

But before we went after the carrots to fix this problem, we should give amnesty to those here who have had children here on our soil. Exempt them, give them a path to citizenship so their employers can no longer work them for lower wages, and then turn the heat on these greedy businessmen who break the law so they can keep more of the income pie their workers are creating for them. Problem solved, and we will not have to worry about deporting a single one. They will deport themselves.

See, when you really want to fix something, it can be done. But neither party has wanted to fix it, for their business donors give them money for their campaigns so that they will not stop the flow of illegal labor.

This dumbass will say anything to get you to believe in him.

First of all, he has no way of doing what he says (even though I agree with the sentiment, sort of).

Second of all, I keep seeing the statue of Liberty...

We have typically taken throwaway people from other countries and used that to our advantage.

Trump can't even get his clothes made in the US. All his crap is made in China.

The guy is a populist (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bag.

Until this happens, things will stay the same.

    - - - Updated - - -

So, pass laws that make employing illegals a felony. Until that happens, illegals will keep coming in.

I'm all for this, and I am the scary word, liberal.

I think it's terrible that we let US businesses get away with exploiting foreign workers. So make doing so a felony with harsh sentences.

Mexico needs to deal with their own problems.

Anyone who disagrees, needs to explain why. We should not be the dumping ground for Mexico's race issues. And that is what this is. Mexico hates their Mestizos.

If he sticks to it I may be closer to supporting him. He already knocked it out of the park on building a wall. Now if he is for deporting that may just seal the deal for many. We have to end the modern slavery in this country. It needs to be abolished.

Oh come now I am not a "con". It is just that democrats have had nothing to offer in the past several years.

Sorry, never seen you be liberal on any issue. To be fair, show me where you have been. I will be fair and acknowledge that issue.

BTW, in the 80's, I was considered a consevative in the US. I still am in Canada. The US is so f***ing stupid now that I can never own being conservative, nor would I. I am an American Liberal, and damn proud.

Hah, see? He just needs to keep up the blame game on brown people, and the racist cons will eat it up. Nevermind that is has zero chance of happening.

Well, you're wrong....."Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..." applies to LEGAL immigrants, like our ancestors and they were quarantined on Ellis Island for months being documented and HEALTH CHECKED b/f they were allowed on the mainland. Those words absolutely did NOT mean allow people to pour across the border, undocumented, so no one knew who they were and they possibly brought communicable diseases w/them..........

AND those from the 18th & 19th centuries were happy to assimilate themselves into our culture & traditions - that's why we were called 'the melting pot'......

You said he has no way of doing what he says - how would you know? Don't you think it would be nice if we had some law&order on our borders again? I think it would be great to keep the criminals & drug cartels OUT........

Even of by some long shot chance Mr. Trump did get elected, he would have absolutely no power to build his dream wall. In case you are not aware of it, all funding for such a project would have to be approved by Congress. Trump evidently has no idea how government works and neither do most of his supporters. Perhaps he should take a crash course in civics before the primaries start. He knocked it out of the park in your view by spouting off with a bunch of crap as far as the Trump Wall. I kind of like the guy, and I would vote for him in a New York Minute if he was to run against Bush or Clinton, but he needs to learn about what the US Presidency entails. I like his ideas regarding the crappy trade agreements that have been shoved up our asses by the Democrats and Republicans. But, again, he would need support from a critical mass of the whores entrenched in the US Congress to nullify these sellout deals. He is acting like if he gets elected he will be the absolute dictator of the US and that just isn't going to happen. With the weak field he is facing, if he gets his act together before the real battle starts he could possibly win. I suggest he hire a guy like Ed Rollins to help him craft his message and sharpen it up. Cheers

He's at least a populist, that's a start. Look, the Founders would agree that positions would change with the times. Way back when we were a developing country, we could take the hordes of tired, poor masses yearning to be free. But now the country is at 300 million people, with a 20 million dollar budget and a MAXED out debt-GDP ratio.

The US needs to look after itself for a change, and can't do that if at the first sign of foreign trouble(not necessarily militaristic) it rushes to "HELP". Help ourselves first, then we can change the world. That's how we were able to help the world to begin with. Since the US was such a great power.

Liberalism would be more popular if they cared about America and not "social group of the flavor".

Perhaps you have not heard he said Mexico would pay for it. I doubted that at first but it seems Dictator Obama can operate without congress so he has set precedence. Whoever gets elected these days can do whatever they want without consequences.

Liberals have forgotten how to compromise so I reject them these days. The biggest issue I have with them is how they try and steamroll over anyone who disagrees with them. They have turned into a corrupt disease.

Oh, OK. So when Trump becomes President, not only will he be absolute dictator of the US but also Mexico too. Good luck with that. Maybe Trump should build the wall with his own money and incorporate giant signs with his name on it along with Hotels and Golf Courses. That would be real neat!
