*shrug* He wanted to not drive that bus and or leave that job -- he got both. Seems like a win-win.
So if a city owned bus decided to put confederate flags all over thier buses liberals would be ok with it. Historical precedent says thier lying.
His post was addressed to me and I replied. At least read the thread before you post. - - - Updated - - - No they wouldn't be ok with it because the Confederate flag represents racism. See how this works: liberals = tolerance. Conservative Confederate flags and homophobia = intolerance.
At night do you think they park the gay pride bus next to the straight or white pride bus? You speak of tolerance but offer this bus driver none. When a liberal uses the word tolerance, what he is really saying is that if you don't agree with me then you are a hater, a racist, and a homophobe thus the rules of our society don't apply to or protect you.
Only if your definition of "religious nut" is somebody on the ultra fringe and not just a person with a religion.
No - a liberals idea of tolerance is accepting concepts like freedom of association (gay relationships). The bus driver's attitude is the antithesis of tolerance. And yes a racist is a racist and a homophone is a homophone. Don't expect most people, including most on the right, to accept that type of behavior.
So tolerance is defined by what you want it to be and it will always favor your position, got it. Using your reasoning no one in the black lies matter movement would ever get a job because of their intolerant attitudes, but I'm sure you can explain that away. And can you please explain what a person with a phobia of homos has? That would be an irrational fear.
A public buss with a confederate flag, swastika, burning cross... pretty sure someone would have a problem with those. You want to but a mural on the side depicting great accomplishments or celebrations of southern culture, pioneer culture, christian culture, or gay culture... you'd probably have less of an issue.
Since you have trouble understanding the concept of tolerance here's a definition from Wikipedia. Are you free from bigotry Steve?
He wasn't forced to drive anything. He was never even scheduled to drive it. So he went to the media complaining about a problem that never occurred and doing so broke the companies media relations policies. So he was fired.
No, no one is. You, me, and everyone around us has a degree of intolerance in us for certain things. But the definition you posted of tolerance included tolerating opinions that differ from one's own. Now do you understand your own intolerance?
This is where you're messing up and repeatedly posting Strawmen. I'm not intolerant of someone having an opinion. If I was I'd be ignoring you. And the perspective of people who dislike the gay lifestyle is a position that's certainly open to discussion. But the bus driver issue is different. He publicly refused to do his job. He does not have the right to take his intolerance into the workplace, he doesn't have the right to publicly challenge his employer. He is free to dislike Blacks, handicapped people, the elderly, women, gays or any other group. He cannot act on any of those prejudices in any way at work
LGBT awareness and pride are a nationally recognized month. So keep tryin on that one. You can continue to try to play the victim of big bad gays being bullies. But you then can't keep trying to manufacture problems. The guy in the OP was never even asked to drive the pride bus. He went on media without company go ahead to complain about a problem that never existed. And what do you know that unsurprisingly it violated the companies policies, so he was fired.
Accepted social standards?cthats pretty questionable anymore. Seeing as gays have gained more support over the last decade than ever before.
Obviously the bus company has a policy (like most big operations including my own) that only the company's authorized spokesperson speaks to the media. That is likely what happened.
How can he refuse to do a job even the bus company said he was never going to perform? And what's this about not having the right to publically challenging his employer? No government employee has ever challenged government before? What about unions when they bash management? No minority has ever publically complained about government or their employers?
He said he would refuse to drive the bus. You cannot publicly criticize your employer, including a government-owned company, and expect to keep your job.
Companies can fire at will. This has always been the conservative (wide) stance. I don't understand the fuss over this.
They sure can. Too bad they take this as far as firing based on a hypothetical opposition to their out of place pandering. Pride bus?? Please...... Theres that "bedroom" stepping out into society again and pretending noone has a right to an opinion.
