If he wasn't required to drive the bus and he made a public stink about it then I don't have any sympathy for him. If you badmouth your boss in front of everyone you shouldn't be shocked when they fire you. That being said, why the (*)(*)(*)(*) are they wasting tax payer dollars on a pride bus?
They didn't change the law, they enforced a more fundamental law. And it's not the first time they did.
Haven't scrolled the thread but and may have been asked but if it was the Confederate Battle Flag................... - - - Updated - - - What about reasonable accommodation? - - - Updated - - - The activities and celebrations that occur under that flag are. - - - Updated - - - So a Muslim would have to drive one with a Star of David on it else get fired? - - - Updated - - - You don't have to, it is their retort of last resort to try and put you on the defense.
Well you don't but if you want to start I'm cool with it. But seriously try reading a thread before you respond so your comment makes sense. - - - Updated - - - Marriage is marriage. Nothing special about who gets married. In 1950 would you have made the same claim about interracial marriage? That it's a special right?
The city has a pride bus because they wanted one. Also the lgbt doesn't shove their sexual preferences in straight people's faces near as much as straight people shove their sexual preference on others. Every book movie and television show has hetersexuality in it. Yet one character or one movie having multiple gay characters is shoving it down the throats of straight people? A bus painted like a rainbow is shoving homosexuality in your face? How so, please explain? Further, from what I see lgbt act like everyone else. I can't see how they don't, can you explain that as well?
The populace doesn't get to decide who has rights and who doesn't. That isn't how this country was set up.
If it had a video screen that played films of homosexual couples having sex on it, than it would be the bedroom stepping out into society. It's a rainbow paint job. People proud to be what they are. It is no worse than a bill board advertising Eharmony.
Why would it be offensive to people? If people are offended by a bus company painting a bus with a pride flag, they have every right to be, but why should anyone care? It isn't offensive because people want to be offended. It isn't like they painted a swastika on it.
I was right. you dont know how things work. America isnt about majority rule, it is about preserving rights. cvics 101
This has nothing to do with gay rights. So what if it was a Confederate Battle flag and a black driver refused? A Star of David and a Muslin driver refused? Can't come up with a response or something?
... as opposed to paying him for not doing any work? If you want to protest instead of work, you're free to grab a picket sign instead of a time card ... I might even sympathize with your point. But whether anyone does or not, don't expect a paycheck.
That's exactly why we have to nip this sort of (*)(*)(*)(*) in the bud, or it mushrooms into ever more discrimination based on an individual's prejudices. Do your job duties or find another one that doesn't disturb your delicate sensibilities.
No one can force you to drive either bus, you're welcome to not do so. You just don't have the option of getting paid while not doing so.
