Doh, another binary poll with a question that has more than two possible answers. I say "other" as there is no irrefutable proof either way.

Such bull(*)(*)(*)(*). I forget which psychological aberration makes people believe in Conspiracies but I think it pretty well covers and explains the phenomena

There's also the fact that they're sometimes, (not often ) just snapping good stories. Best example of this is the Valis/Radio Free Albemuth stories by Philip K. Dick. These are so good they've been incorporated into the Black Satellite Conspiracy, which, in fact, they may have started, and certainly revived if it WAS already existing. In regard to this it certainly doesn't hurt that Dick was schizophrenic and probably paranoid himself and pretty obviously came to believe his own story.

Or maybe he believed it because it was really true, which, it actually was, in a sense, since a large part of it was largely Dick's story of his own mental illness.

And there's a whole series of stories on the Nazi Flying Saucers from Antarctica, Again, a conspiracy started by an author (W.A. Harbinson) acquiring a life of its own

God, the seductive charm of these things, even if they're not true they sort of are, at least in a virtual sense.

And the Internet lends a whole new dimension. I know more than one person who thinks that "Ghost in the Shell" is not only possible but may have happened.

There ought to be some way to add to the Conspiracies in the section though. It does tend to get repetitious

And if they do......… perhaps we should consider giving them a lot more credit than they have gotten in the past??

    http://www.politicalforum.com/canad...e-elliott-trudeau-save-world-environment.html

Did P. M. Pierre Elliott Trudeau save the world environment?

This is actually a quite serious question.

    P. M. Trudeau made an error back in 1974, that may well come to be understood as one of the most important mistakes ever made by a political leader.

When P. M. Pierre Elliott Trudeau took Canada off the gold standard, (which incidentally had to be done for many valid reasons), a miscalculation was made that is the number one reason why our national debt has spiraled out of control.

But..... there is a very good side to this because all of us know that we humans have been in a somewhat similar mentality to our ancestors who shot, boiled, barbecued, roasted and fried passenger pigeons into extinction.

We are highly prone to OVER Consumptionism............. I addressed part of the background issues back in my 2006 provincial level campaign as an independent.

The Paranoid Sociopath nutjobs need monsters in the closet...and the 'commies" no longer are around. The Illuminati.... wasn't such a big deal back when they were relevant. Now...about anytime some folks with IDEAS about anything.....have a conference (such as Bilderberg) .....the nut cases and know nothings and the Paranoid freaks... over-react. There ARE...."groups" with real clout in politics, finance, business. Some even have some power. You ...also.. can have a few dozen guys into projecting a future....whether predicting or advocating. So what? You can turn on the TV and there's a group of experts discussing..whatever.

the Kochs do an annual secretive get together of VERY rich right wingers with an agenda. It's about using $$$ to buy power..to push their extreme agenda and warp politics. That's REAL...it's happening...it does suck.

That MACHINE...is happy to spend big on stuff. They can BUY state govt. They can fund websites..guys on radio,TV.
By comparison.. the Illuminati.....is nothing. I'm not even convinced there's any REAL such thing.. though, I guess a dozen guys CAN use the label. Even ignoring the big Koch machine.. there's some other groups that actually have some impact... but...not all are negative.

This isn't the first time I've provided this link in this thread. Yet, not one single of you who participate here have actually clicked on the link, and performed your due diligence to actually find out who the Illuminati are, what they represent, and what they're doing.
You'd rather go on and on and on with your fantasies, theories, and outright delusions.
The Illuminati exist. Demonstrate the slightest honesty, and find out for yourself. Here they are:

    That concludes this thread.

This thread is quite curious. I see a mixture of history and urban legends.

First of all, Adam Weishaupt has been a real person, a historical personage, who founded a group [with Adolph Knigge, The Order of the Perfectibilists, or the Sect of the Bees, later known as the Order of the Illuminati]. This group had remarkable aspirations to infiltrate and control politics in Bavaria and eventually to be accepted by Freemasonry ...

    But ...

The historical Illuminati [by Adam Weishaupt] had a short life [Knigge left after 4 years, his membership was from 1780 to 1784; he even accused Wieshaupt to be a Jesuit under false disguise!] and they have never been accepted by official Freemasonry.

    This was for historical accuracy.

I think the whole illuminati thing is very American and shows how young the country is.
Secret societies such as freemasons, and carbonari were part of the Liberal revolution in Europe and were places that anti-absolutists and republicans would meet. Most Italian revolutions in the 19th century had the carbonari involved.

    Nope. Was there anything else?

Anyone ever comment on the fact that these SECRET societies exist but not very secretly because so many people seem to know about them?

Just curious. I don't really care.

Not formally, no. Do I believe there are small groups of people who enjoy puppeteering from time to time? Sure.

They're just one of the myriad "they" groups that paranoid people like to blame for the world's ills these days, but I've heard that they had also existed historically, at least in Bavaria.

They could conceivably be carrying on in secret. The question would then be, does it matter? Do they actually conspire, and do so effectively, to control the world? Are their members capable of this? If the preceding is true, then what exactly are their objectives and their methods?

Yes they stood for everything the modern leftist liberal bleeding heart stands for, they are driving the frontal assault on society as we speak.

The main thing the big power does is try to keep everything from completely falling apart. Sometimes you have to let contained areas fall apart to keep the whole thing on track, but predictability and harmony are the main goal.

No one wants to rule a wasteland.

Early comment ... are they surrendering?
    This is nice:

Yes I would ... so what?

    Now a curious passage
"The" problem? May be "a" problem" ... anyway ... science is science until is aware of its numerous problems ... perfection is for philosophy.

This said, science doesn't say that about "matter", from Einstein on, the conceptualization of matter is more similar to "a form of crystallized energy" that to what existence is all about [???].

The author of the article doesn't know what math is ...
Math is a human language [coded language] to describe natural relations. The value of pi [3.14 ...] is the result of a convention. If we used a different system of numeric reference, may be pi was a round number!!! But the relation wouldn't change. It's like to compare the length of two streets in metric decimal system of in British or American measurement system. The relation would always be the same, but the numbers would be different [from meters to yards].

And by the time you got there, the site was gone.
    Now, they refer us here:

I thought it was so appropriate, where one quote they preserved on the AC page is from Nietzsche:
"The higher you rise, the smaller you appear to those who can't fly".

To claim to be the "Illuminati" is a matter, to be the Illuminati is a different matter ...

There are also several Knight Orders claiming to own a continuous and genuine connection with the Order of the Temple. Unfortunately for them, according to the rules of Knighthoods, the Order is no more. Period. But its heritage has survived ... and through a different Order, even in a direct and "legal" way. Templars in Portugal passed to a further Order [Real Ordem dos Cavaleiros de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo]. Substantially that Order is the continuous and genuine connection with the Temple. The rest is mere historical speculation, when not real hoaxes.

This said, for the Illuminatenorden [German name of the Order of the Illuminati] we've got the same problem we've got for the supposed "Order of Sion" [then Priory of Sion, but the Priory has been debunked as a modern hoax].

With the difference that a historical Order of the Illuminati has existed, but it was little, concentrated in a Southern region of Germany and its life was brief. For the rest, like for the Order of Sion, we've got not documented rumors, tales, legends ... or doubtful "documents" and witnesses of something.

From a historical perspective it's not enough to sustain that Illuminati exist as someone imagine them.

The whole theory is flawed. First, the symbol was probably created by a drunk guy who got a look at the back of a dollar bill and thought it would be cool to give a symbol to an organisation that never existed. Second, the whole thing is based off of the Freemasons, which was a political group in the 1700s. And if they wanted to remain underground, they haven't done a good job of it.
