http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2015/12/10/connecticut-gun-sales-ban-no-fly-list/ CT will ban gun sales to people on the TSA's NO -Fly list. they are working with the feds to get a copy of the list. The governor said the executive order would deny the issuing of gun permits, which may be appealed to a firearm review board.
Will be tossed out based on unconstitutional grounds. Being on the no fly list does not mean you lose your civil rights.
No one stopping them from bringing them in. You fail to realize that almost all muslims that wish to pull an event like in Cali, don't plan on living through it. There is no force field around Conn that stops anything. Its a stupid waste of money. Here, a man lost it and killed 2 police officers and 7 citizens with a Ruger Mini 14 camp rifle.
Right on totally agree. The only power that the no fly list has ,is to stop someone from flying. If it infringes on a persons right to exercise their civil rights,it should be deemed unconstitutional.
It would take legislation to change the law and if the Gov tries this by executive fiat it would be laughed out of court.
The AR-15 is also illegal in the state of California. That did not stop the San Bernadino shooters from acquiring them through legal channels within the state.
What are you trying to push here? The AR-15 is also illegal where you live, but you yourself ran a recent thread about alternatives, and it looked like you were going to buy that SCR carbine, which is, after all, an AR-15. The AR ban hasn't worked in CT. Owners refuse to turn them in, and LE refuses to seize them. Why? Because everyone knows that the ban is unconstitutional. With that as a precedent, do you expect the no fly list to mean diddly on the street?
The no fly list doesn't just list people with known terrorist links. This bull(*)(*)(*)(*) law will strip people of their rights without due process. Should we also herd these people into internment camps?
I find it humorous that the same people that whined about the Patriot Act are now demanding more tyranny.
A secret government list that no one knows how you get on it and how you get off it. Sounds tyrannical.
It's all fun and games until your neighbor places an anonymous call to the FBI and reports you for suspected terrorism. It's the new McCarthyism.
This is completely unconstitutional. You cannot be denied rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights just because the government puts you on a secret list: That is the definition of fascism. If you think that this is a good thing, then you must also think that the government should be able to kick down the doors of such people and confiscate everything they own without a warrant and jail them indefinitely without a trail. The truth is, if these people are so dangerous that they should not own a gun, then the government should do its job and gather enough evidence to arrest them. Until that happens, every citizen of this nation should be considered innocent until proven guilty. What's funny is that liberals are always talking about ridiculous "entitlements" while ignoring the most important entitlement of all: The entitlement that every citizen has to undergo the due process of the law before being automatically considered guilty of a crime.
Silly knee jerk reaction. The funny thing is that even the San Bernardino shootings WOULD NOT have been stopped by this. In fact, there is nothing I've heard suggested in a long time that would have stopped any of the more notorious mass shootings, other than existing laws actually being implemented on the government side. - - - Updated - - - Please tell me of a recent shooting by someone on the no-fly list who bought the gun legally under current laws.
It is estimated that only 15% of AR-15 owners in CT registered their guns. How would this law be enforced. An unenforceable law is a bad law.
O granted. I found that particularly hilarious actually. Funny story true story, a similar thing happened in European nations that banned guns. They expected to get X (because that was the number they knew about) and instead received Y a far lesser number. If they ever ban guns, mine were all lost in a freak boating accident. Terrible loss really.
